Responsible for overseeing the sales activities and supporting all sales channels within a specific geographic territory or area. Job Responsibilities
  • Sales Execution: Develop and implement effective sales strategies to drive sales growth in the designated area.

  • Manage and expand relationships with key accounts, channel and strategic partners.

Overview

The specification and design of IT solutions to meet defined business needs. The design, creation, testing and documentation of new and amended programs from supplied specifications in accordance with agreed standards. Ensure smooth operations of relevant IT systems that complement the business. Position Outputs
  1. Define system requirements, design specifications and systems documentation.
  2. Data modelling, procedural and technical designs according to application development methods, techniques and standards.
  3. Structured review of software code, development, and software testing.
  4. During TOS implementations and upgrades, participate in the entire life cycle of TOS planning, design, configuration, testing and implementation.
  5. Cost estimation, feasibility studies and other budget requirements.
  6. Record time allocation per task for project management and capitalization purposes.
  7. Staff Management and Leadership.
  8. Update technical documentation on a Maintain technical configurations in accordance with related policies and procedures.
  9. Ensure that all TOS-related policies and procedures are followed, and that all change and release management tasks are completed in accordance with related policies and procedures.
  10. Execute thorough functional testing of solutions and TOS versions.
Qualifications and Experience

  • Monitor failure frequency and modes, breakdowns, accidents, and overtime. Drive root cause analysis and implement process or equipment changes to prevent recurrence
  • Manage projects for equipment renewals and capital projects on time and within budget for a whole plant or machine. Comply with Sappi standard Project Management, Process Standards, and Change Management practices; verify compliance across the plant
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings to agree on work focus areas and resolve plant problems. Build relationships with production teams
  • Conduct thorough Root Cause Analyses with support from Lean and/or specialist engineers as needed. Review evidence, decide on action, and ensure implementation. Build a business case for required expenditure when necessary
  • Ensure equipment Quality Control Plans (QCPs) meet Sappi standards and are in place where appropriate. Develop and review QCPs for new equipment and when RCA identifies weaknesses
  • Oversee recruitment, recognition, performance management, remuneration, development, and discipline of the section’s maintenance and production team
Qualifications
  • BSc/BEng/BTech/Advanced Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with 5 to 10 years of experience in a heavy industry/manufacturing environment
  • 5 years of experience in managing multidisciplinary maintenance teams in a section/area
  • Government Certificate of Competency
  • MDP or equivalent would be advantageous
  • Paper Machine experience would be advantageous

Based in Durban, Durban University of Technology seeks to appoint an EXECUTIVE DEAN, FACULTY OF ENGINEERING AND THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT .

The Executive Dean for the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment will be a senior officer of the University and report to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Teaching and Learning). In line with the University’s vision and overall objectives, the Executive Dean is expected to determine, articulate, implement and lead faculty-based strategic initiatives to enhance the faculty’s academic stature, reputation and performance in teaching/learning, research, innovation and engagement. Key traits of the Executive Dean include inspirational, innovative and enterprising academic leadership. It is expected that the Executive Dean will strengthen the faculties’ service ethic to students and its staff and build its engagement with industry, communities and government. As administrators, the Executive Dean is responsible for the academic integrity, administrative management, financial management, human resource and strategic management.

Key responsibilities
  • Develops, researches, designs, and reviews faculty and, where appropriate, institutional policies, procedures, plans and systems as required in line with relevant legislation, national standards and international best practices.
  • Provides leadership in the formulation and monitoring of faculty related plans, processes and systems and goals.
  • As part of the Institute's Academic leadership team, provides input to regional, national and international academic initiatives where appropriate.
  • As structural and functional head of the faculty, oversees and monitors the effective implementation of institutional and university policies, procedures, plans and systems within the faculty.
  • Provides specific, high-level, legally compliant strategic advice on faculty-related academic matters to the DVC for Teaching and Learning and to the Executive Management as may be required.
  • Provides specific, high-level, legally compliant strategic advice on faculty-related academic matters to the DVC for Research, Innovation and Engagement and to the Executive Management as may be required.
  • Manages appeals, complaints, etc., from students, parents, employers.
  • Manages staff appeals, complaints, grievances, etc., and conducts disciplinary inquiries as appropriate.
  • Promotes equity and transformation within the faculty.
  • Promotes congenial working relationships between staff in the faculty and with other academic and administrative departments.
  • Manages the Faculty office by delegating specific responsibilities to Deputy Dean, e.g. registration, record keeping and qualification procedures.
Qualifications and experience
  • A Doctorate in an appropriate discipline with a strong research profile that demonstrates leadership.
  • At least ten (10) years’ work experience in the higher education environment of which five (5) years should have been in a senior academic management capacity.
  • Relevant higher education leadership and managerial skills.
Ideal requirements
  • A strong record of initiating and managing collaborations and partnerships at local, regional and international levels.
  • Proven record of being a respected senior academic leader.
  • Sound knowledge of higher education and the higher education system in South Africa and internationally.
