Hire Resolve's client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineering Planner to join their team in Durban. The Engineering Planner will be responsible for coordinating and planning activities related to engineering projects, ensuring that all resources are effectively utilized and deadlines are met.

Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure that all compliance requirements are captured and scheduled on the Sage EAM (Enterprise Asset Management System).
  2. Improve the ratio of planned to unplanned work.
  3. Improve maintenance personnel utilization.
  4. Close all maintenance job cards and ensure that the feedback is accurate and in the correct format.
  5. Arrange resources (spares, materials, hired labour etc.) for maintenance tasks.
  6. Technical discussions with suppliers regarding spares.
  7. Co-ordination of shutdown planning in conjunction with the maintenance manager.
  8. Issues job cards to artisans.
  9. Follows up with suppliers on deliveries.
  10. Set up and maintenance of maintenance store and controls stock.
Requirements:
  • A Qualified Artisan (Preferably a Millwright).
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a chemical manufacturing industry.
  • Computer Skills: MS Office, Sage, and EAM System.
  • Proven experience in project planning and coordination.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.

Collaborates with other internal teams and forges and maintains relationships with suppliers

TECHNICAL PRE-REQUISITE

Expert level knowledge of sector technology and processes

Data Analytic skills and experience
Proficiency to present and display complex information to non-technical stakeholders
Ability to manage multiple projects, simultaneously

Job Summary:

The Engineering Services Manager will be leading and coordinating the activities of the Engineering Department including:

  • Supervision of all Legal Inspections for Canelands Plant
  • Developing, Analyzing and Coordinating Capital Projects
  • Supervising the Uninterrupted Supply of General Services (Steam, Compressed Air Electricity, Water, CO2, Effluent and Solid waste removal to the focus factories, etc)
  • Ensuring CPSA follows all Legal Requirements related to Safety and Environmental Standards
  • On time and Budget Completion of CEB Projects as per Business needs

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of a new process / projects / engineering technology.
  • Drive an external vendor selection process.
  • Implement multiple factory acceptance tests – improve upon the protocol.
  • Complete multiple new equipment installation initiatives.
  • Collaborate in factory restructuring initiatives and strategic business evaluation. Participate in the development of a site contingency plan.
  • Develop and own a capital budget as well as lead a Cost Reduction Initiative whilst supporting FTG Program
  • Identify & implement an opportunity for changeover reduction on one or more lines
  • Develop a network with Legal, Corporate EHS, Quality and others Subs to benchmarking and standard processes
  • Participate on a Global Sourcing Study for Raw Material, Equipment or Finished Product in order to be able to help into the CI Process in our Facilities

Managing Materials and Services

  • Understands the relationship that operations, planning, logistics and manufacturing processes have on material and conversion costs. Ensuring there is no material wastage in the production and works towards reduction of materials losses.

Continuous Improvement

  • Applies the Asset Effectiveness Model to identify performance improvement opportunities.
  • Conducts Continuous Improvement Reviews to identify standard processes and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensures that CI processes support Quality and Safety goals within the area.

Cross-Organizational Collaboration.

  • Using analytical tools and business data to improve total performance of the Supply Chain. Understands the interrelationships of the five Supply Chain processes: planning, sourcing, making, delivering and product commercialization, with respect to overall performance.
  • Uses Focus Factory data and analytical tools including SAP. Apply data from business tools and information systems to increase Return on Capital and Customer Service.

Business/Financial Understanding.

  • Understands the Total Delivered Cost Structure of products and uses this knowledge to optimally control material and labor costs in the area. Develops and implements appropriate margin improvement programs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7 years experience in Manufacturing/Engineering Environment
  • A Bachelors or Equivalent Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Government Certificate of Competency in Engineering will be an advantage
  • Solid understanding of Engineering Topics and Steam Generation
  • Project Management & Leadership Skills (Financial Management and Control)

  4. Must have knowledge, experience and be proficient with engineering software such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD etc.
  5. Experience and proficiency with MS Office is essential.
  6. Ability to produce design documentation and review drawings.
  7. Project/Contract management and tender documentation experience is essential.
  8. Ability to write technical reports and tender documentation under minimal guidance.
  9. Ability to engage with clients and other stakeholders.
  10. Must have the ability and willingness to mentor others.
  11. Valid Driver's license.
