Our client, a leading Manufacturing company based in Umhlanga, is looking to fill the position of Logistics Manager.
Purpose of the Role:
Reporting to the Marketing Director, the successful incumbent will be responsible for all logistics management duties including selecting carriers, researching shipping methods, inventory management, inbound and outbound transport, projects and assessing budgets.
The successful candidate must demonstrate strong attention to detail in order to oversee daily operations. In addition to having excellent organizational skills, they should also possess in-depth knowledge of logistics and inventory systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Select carriers and negotiate contracts and rates.
- Plan and monitor inbound and outbound deliveries.
- Supervise logistics, storage, transportation, third party service providers and customer service levels.
- Respond to issues and complaints both internal and external.
- Research and implement ideal shipping techniques, routing and carriers.
- Work with other departments to incorporate logistics with company procedures and operations.
- Create, maintain and evaluate budgets and expenditures.
- Update and evaluate metrics to assess performance and implement enhancements.
- Contribute to and set departmental goals with specific reference to sales and production volume, sales price, variable cost of production, product mix and geographical distribution mix.
- Monitor market demand, conditions and competitor activity with respect to impact on goals.
- Ensure all operations adhere to laws, safety, guidelines and ISO requirements.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Grade 12 Senior Certificate
- Tertiary qualification in logistics / supply chain or relevant field is advantageous
- Good understanding of logistics and inventory management
- 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role
- 3-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment preferably within a manufacturing industry
