Our client is seeking a strategic and hands-on Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead the technology and digital strategy for their mining operations and projects in Africa. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT systems, cybersecurity, SOX compliance, and experience in the mining sector.

Responsibilities :

  • Lead the company’s technology vision and align it with business goals.
  • Oversee IT infrastructure, enterprise systems, and operational technology.
  • Develop and manage cybersecurity programs to protect company systems and data.
  • Ensure all IT-related processes meet Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance requirements.
  • Support automation, digital innovation, and data analytics across mining operations.
  • Build and lead a skilled technical team across multiple sites.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on risk management, technology investment, and strategic planning.

Requirements : Qualification and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related field.
  • Master’s degree is advantageous.
  • 10+ years of leadership experience in IT within the mining sector.
  • Strong knowledge of SOX IT controls, audits, compliance frameworks, and cybersecurity standards.
  • Cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or similar.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, industrial control systems (ICS), and cloud platforms.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Willingness to travel to remote mining sites in Africa as needed.
  • This position is exclusively open to South African residents based in or around Gauteng.
