The Employee will work as an Engineer: Hardware, scope of work will include (but is not limited to) the following:

  • Formal design, development, implementation and verification of systems, subsystems including both mechanical structures and electronic components. The focus will be on understanding and providing inputs towards high-level design architectures and interfaces and the low-level detailed design, implementation and verification thereof;
  • Contributing towards the Development Engineering outputs for a specific project, including all design, documentation and verification artefacts;
  • Implementation of the company's system engineering processes, plans and policies as applicable to a specific project;
  • Assisting with the company's production efforts, including procurement, supplier management, SRU level assembling and testing, LRU level assembly and testing, environmental stress screening, qualification and support;
  • Performing minor support roles within the company if required.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Suitable Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering (BSc Eng/BEng), or equivalent.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proficiency in CAD, mechanical design, 3D modelling, thermal analysis and structural simulation and analysis.

Recommended Skills and Experience:

  • 2 – 3 years of relevant industry or post-graduate experience;
  • Experience with CAM production techniques (e.g., laser cutting, machining, 3D printing);
  • A Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering (MSc Eng/MEng).

General Skills:

  • Ability to learn quickly and absorb new information rapidly;
  • Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate on large projects;
  • Ability to work independently;

Your mission, roles and responsibilities

  • As a member of the Program Core Team, the Program Manufacturing Leader is responsible for all the manufacturing aspects of the Program. His / her mission lasts from the Acquisition phase (as Acquisition Manufacturing Leader) until GR4 closure, generally at SOP + 6 months.

Main Purpose of the job :

Team Management

  • Coordinate work package tasks he / she is responsible for and ensure their accomplishment.

Product manufacturability and Process Definition

  • Ensure manufacturing feasibility by managing Process FMEA and MVP (Manufacturing Validation Plan) definition and completion
  • In charge of the definition of the traceability system needed for production and assembly processes
  • Initiate the Process Capability study plan and provide manufacturing data for "make or buy" studies
  • Provide quotation and implement all changes related to process and production system and / or related to the product

Production System Development

  • Responsible for Preliminary Manufacturing Footprint Analysis and input data for the definition of new or extension of facilities
  • Lead the Production Line definition using standard group methodologies : Equipment Design Workshop & Cardboard Workshop and FECT standard equipments together with program and plant support team
  • Responsible for Initial Equipment Concept, long lead time and standard lead time Equipment, Tooling and Gages specifications.
  • Provide PM with the inputs for CAR (Capital Expenditure Request) preparation.
  • Manage Capacity studies for existing equipment / capital through process experts & specialists
  • Manage CAPex spending within the Program budget. Manage vendor timeline for Equipment, Tools and Gages
  • Validate design of Equipment, Tools and Gages at supplier together with IPL
  • Provide PM with manufacturing data for product costing including CAPex, Work-Content, material consumption, Launch Costs.

The PML supervises the following activities led by the IPL(s)

  • Support Production preparation and ramp-up : Plant Launch Readiness initiated
  • Support pre-acceptance (run-off) of Equipment, Tools and Gages at supplier
  • Support all Process FMEA defined actions
  • Contribute to Process Qualification and Production Part Approval Process including Run @ Rate : Production Trial (PT) and Mass Production Trial (MPT) Extended Mass Production Trial (EMPT) for all production lines

Targets and reporting

  • During the acquisition phase, propose industrial objectives of the program (Capex, work-content / DL, scrap / rework / cycle times / tool change over times, material costs, launch costs…)
  • Consolidate and Validate quality of deliverables of manufacturing work-packages / PMS Mandatory Deliverables & other inputs needed for Program Functional Milestones Reviews
  • Achieve all manufacturing program objectives together with plant(s) at each Gate Review.
  • Lead IDW (Industrial Design Workshop) in Acquisition phase and phase 2b.

Your profile and competencies to succeed

The ideal candidate will have / be :

  • B-Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in production area, including one position in Manuf. Engineering
  • Preferably trained in FES, FES Equipment Design, PMS and GD&T (PFA)
  • Experience in Program launch in plant
  • Proven technical skills on product and process
  • Cross functional Management skills

  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years’ experience as a Mechanical (HVAC, Fire, Wets, VT, BMS, Med Gas) Engineer within the Built Environment. (Healthcare experience will be highly advantageous).
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing multiple teams over multiple deliveries.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience mentored and developed junior engineers.
  • Strong understanding of local, international codes and standards, preferably including those applicable to South Africa and the Middle East.
  • Strong technical and view of building services, focusing mainly on Mechanical.
  • Strong proficiency in chilled water system design.
  • Strong proficiency in Revit would be an advantage working on your projects.
  • Strong proficiency in IES & HAP and mechanical simulation software is highly advantageous.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

This post involves the research and development of new products for all of the four business units of Nortech, namely, Traffic, Parking, HeadCount, and Identipark. QUALIFICATION & KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

  • Minimum BSc Degree in Electronic Engineering

  • Solid Hardware (electronics) experience in Analogue and Digital Design, including Schematic and PCB design.
  • Solid Firmware development experience with Embedded Systems and C.
  • Experience in Compliance Testing for Certifications of Product.

About You

  • Registered as a PR Eng or PR Tech with ECSA.

  • Minimum 12 years' experience in water/wastewater project design, including treatment plants and pumping stations.
  • Strong understanding of water sector standards and multidisciplinary design integration.
  • Proficient in ElectricalOM and CAD software; MS Office suite skills essential.
  • Experienced in managing complex projects and technical teams.
  • Excellent English communication skills and collaborative mindset.
  • Committed to ongoing professional development.

Job Summary

Responsible for the monitoring and analysis of economic, regulatory, technological and other relevant variables, in understanding the international and domestic Manufacturing Sector Analyst Sector. Collate the relevant data on current customer & economic trends that identify opportunities for market share growth, thereby building knowledge as an emerging subject matter expert. In addition to providing day-to-day support, the role will require assisting the manager in collation of customer insights which will, along with other insights, help establish and influence the Manufacturing Sector strategy.

Job Description

Accountability: Business Management

  • Ensure a climate of collaboration between all businesses supporting Manufacturing sector (Communications, Compliance, Credit, Customer, Distribution, Finance, Fraud, IT, Marketing, MI, Pricing, Product, and Risk).
  • Track and share the latest changes in legislation (including environmental, quality, and operational standards) impacting the sector and assist in assessing the impact thereof on the Manufacturing strategy and customers across Relationship Banking (RB).
  • Compile monthly reports through the collation of relevant information on monthly progress and industry developments.
  • Conduct reporting analyses to track performance against targets and budgets, informing Monthly / Quarterly reviews as well as the market share growth of RB Manufacturing sector.
  • Provide, via reports, an analysis of the latest trends in Manufacturing in terms of sector, economic, customer, product & channel, as well as market share and growth opportunities while including geographical regions (provinces, metropolitan areas, coastal areas) where applicable.

Accountability: Sector Intelligence and support to key internal stakeholders

  • Compile research, monthly reports and newsletters analysing the key variables affecting the sector, the trends therein and the outlook for Manufacturing subsectors and the industry.
  • Provide Manufacturing sector support to credit teams, in the form of research or feasibility assessment / deal input, as inputs into customer engagements and deals.
  • Assist in building of generic sector financial models as well as assessment of feasibility models for deals.
  • Support the collection and maintenance of data which will contribute to the effective delivery of, as well as in the broader planning of the RB Manufacturing sector strategy.
  • Acts as first line of assessment of market requirements for products or services, define the potential market size to determine prioritisation of new development, and provide input for the expansion of business development and marketing plans for RB Manufacturing sector.
  • Develop sufficient understanding of RB customers and how their needs can be met through Manufacturing sector offerings and the products or services RB have in place to help assist in this solution.
  • Assist in the researching and qualification of value adding and innovative solutions or propositions for RB and/or Group by participating in Industry bodies, contact with customers and 3rd parties, or related external stakeholders.
  • Prepare and present reports and presentations to stakeholders (Credit, Customer, Distribution and Product) on emerging industry or sector trends.
  • Assist in the identification of complex business opportunities on a continuous basis by researching clients to discover and recognise potential cross-sell opportunities.
  • Participate in relevant Knowledge Management Forums and Communities of Best Practice.

Accountability: Stakeholder Relationship

  • Facilitate appropriate Service level agreements with Business and other function support units.
  • Provide assistance to manager in supporting all stakeholders (internal and external).
  • Assist manager in hosting client events and panels as part of building RB Manufacturing Sectors’ brand, insights, and relationships.

Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
