Role DescriptionThis is a contract role for a Senior Storage Engineer. Backup & Recovery Management: Configure and maintain Commvault backup jobs for various workloads (VMs, databases, file systems).
Monitor backup operations and troubleshoot failures
Perform restores and verify data integrity
Storage Infrastructure Oversight: Manage storage targets (disk, tape, cloud) used by Commvault
Optimize storage utilization and retention policies
Ensure compliance with data lifecycle and archival standards
System Health & Performance: Conduct regular health checks on Commvault components
Tune performance settings for efficient data throughput
Apply patches and upgrades to Commvault software
Security & Access Control: Implement role-based access controls (RBAC) within Commvault
Manage encryption keys and secure data transfers
Collaborate with security teams to meet compliance requirements
Disaster Recovery Planning: Design and test DR strategies using Commvault workflows
Document recovery procedures and conduct periodic drills
Automation & Scripting: Develop scripts for job automation and reporting
Integrate Commvault with other IT systems
Work closely with infrastructure, cloud, and application teams

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining Storage, SAN, and Compute hardware by providing OEM good practices through designing, implementing, and deploying shared system resources, like disks and networking. Responsibilities include performance analysis and troubleshooting, data recovery strategies for critical systems, and data backup measures.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities:
- Monitor, contribute, and report on compliance to documented protocols to ensure contractual objectives are achieved.
- Maintain short-term and long-term Capacity and Availability goals to deliver on day-to-day services.
- Develop and partake in the policies, procedures, and organization capability to establish sufficient capacity for continuity and disaster recovery.
- Participate in any incident that leads to a disastrous event.
- Partake in annual disaster recovery testing as required and specified in the Contract.
- Contribute to GORT IT DR plans, policies, and strategies.
- Storage provisioning.
- Zoning.
- Firmware maintenance (SAN, Storage, Blade Chassis, Physical servers).
- Maintain HPE reporting integration (On-prem and Cloud).
- Hardware repairs.
- Grade 12.
- Undergraduate degree/diploma in IT or currently working towards completing a Degree/Diploma in IT.
