**How you create impact**
+ Coordinate and manage import sea freight shipments, ensuring timely and efficient execution from booking through final delivery.
+ Prepare, process, and maintain accurate shipping and customs documentation.
+ Monitor shipment progress, provide status updates, and maintain end-to-end visibility for customers and stakeholders.
+ Liaise with customers, carriers, transport providers, customs brokers, and internal teams to ensure seamless operations.

The Logistics and Finance Assistant supports the logistics and financial team by ensuring the accurate invoice verification and reconciliations. The role contributes to maintaining strong supplier relationships through timely payments, accurate documentation, and adherence to internal controls. By supporting day-to-day logistics administration and assisting with ad hoc logistics functions, the role helps ensure smooth operations, particularly during peak season.

Responsibilities:

Logistic Team Support:

• Verification of costs and profitability during container loading.
• Generation of Proforma invoices where required.
• Support of ad-hoc logistics and operational duties.

Invoice Verification and Purchase Order Control:

• Verify invoices against approved purchase orders.
• Ensure all invoices are correctly matched before processing.
• Follow up on missing or incorrect supporting documentation.
• Ensure all invoices receive the required approval before payment processing.
• Liaise with suppliers and internal departments regarding invoice queries.

Cost reconciliations:

• Perform ad hoc reconciliations as assigned.
• Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies.
• Maintain supporting documentation for reconciliations and reporting.

The successful candidate will have to negotiate sales deals and rates with customers as well as suppliers, meet budget and margin targets while proactively communicating with suppliers to transport goods effectively and efficiently to customers. An in depth knowledge of the road transport industry is required, and an existing customer book would be beneficial.

Experience and Qualifications:

• At least 2 -4 years experience in a similar role within the transport industry.
• Preferably someone with a relevant qualification (degree or diploma).

Minimum Requirements

• Matric (Grade 12).
• Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Accounting, Finance or a related field will be advantageous.
• 13 years' experience in a similar Settlement, Finance or Logistics Administration role.
• Previous experience within the logistics, freight forwarding, transport or supply chain industry is essential.
• Strong understanding of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and reconciliations.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience working on logistics or ERP systems.
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
