Manufacturer in Cape Town, who delivers to a global market, is seeking a Supply Chain Manager to step into a challenging yet rewarding role within the organisation’s Supply Chain department.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the company's overall Supply Chain and Warehouse operations in order to maximize the process efficiency and productivity while continuously seeking to improve all aspects of the supply chain department.
In addition, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining good relationships with internal Procurement and Logistics departments, and when needed, suppliers.
Warehouse management will be a focus area and will include management of Rebate warehouses.
Further KPIâ€s will include:
Planning delivery timetables, Ensuring sufficient stock, both internal (warehouses) and external (Suppliers)
Monitoring stock in and out of Rebate warehouses, ensuring adherence to all legal and SARS regulations.
Internal logistics and distribution between manufacturing plants including Reverse logistics.
Financial management †CAPEX and OPEX budget.
People management and EHS management.
 
Requirements:
Minimum: Diploma in Supply Chain or relevant field, coupled with 8 years of experience.
Degree in relevant field would be highly advantageous.
Minimum 5 years’ rking experience in Supply Chain or Logistics on management level.
Minimum of 5 years†working experience in a Manufacturing environment.
Proficient in SYSPRO
Ability to communicate and negotiate in a professional and business manner

Minimum Requirements :

  • A Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in a senior warehouse management or similar logistics role.
  • Exceptional organizational and leadership skills.
  • Strong proficiency in both Afrikaans and English (reading, writing, and speaking) is essential for effective communication within our diverse operational environment.
  • Demonstrable experience with advanced inventory management systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).

Role Summary :

The Manager plays a pivotal role in optimizing the performance of our own warehouse and third-party logistics (3PL) warehouses, ensuring that the company’s own and outsourced warehousing operations deliver on both efficiency and effectiveness. This position requires a deep understanding of Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies, as well as expertise in warehousing, logistics, and supply chain operations. The Manager will be responsible for conducting in-depth analyses of current processes, identifying areas of waste, and designing solutions that deliver measurable improvements in performance. By implementing industry best practices, optimizing warehouse layouts, and ensuring optimal material flow, the role significantly enhances warehouse productivity and service delivery. Additionally, The Manager will be the key liaison between the company own warehouses and 3PL providers, ensuring that they meet and exceed contractual agreements and performance targets.

Role Responsibilities

Process Optimization:

  • Analyse warehouse operations within our own warehouse and 3PL environment to identify inefficiencies in processes such as inbound, outbound, picking, packing, and Operations Management.
  • Utilise Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies to reduce waste, streamline workflows, and enhance productivity.
  • Implement warehouse best practices to ensure optimal material flow, space utilization, and order accuracy.
  • Support the integration and optimization of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) with the 3PL provider to improve visibility and control over operations.

Performance Measurement and Reporting:

  • Develop, track, and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) for 3PL warehouses, focusing on areas such as On Time In Full (OTIF), inventory accuracy, cost per order, order fulfilment time, and space utilization.
  • Establish continuous improvement goals for the 3PL based on KPI performance and monitor progress toward meeting or exceeding those goals.
  • Provide detailed reports on the performance of 3PL warehouse operations, identifying trends, areas for improvement, and proposed corrective actions.

Collaboration with 3PL Providers:

  • Work closely with 3PL providers to foster a culture of continuous improvement in their operations.
  • Collaborate with 3PL teams to design and implement improvement initiatives that address process bottlenecks, capacity constraints, or quality issues.
  • Lead regular performance review meetings with 3PL partners to evaluate progress on continuous improvement projects and adjust strategies as needed.

Cost Reduction Initiatives:

  • Ensure that the stock is safely and tidily stored in the warehouse at all times

  • Support the RAQA Department for quality action management (i.e. segregation of products due to recalls, product holds …)
  • Support the Finance Department for freight invoices review and approval for payment
  • Preparation and management of documents/reports requested by Customs Authority for DDA (Customs authorization to have a bonded warehouse outside a public bonded area)
  • Ensure the Team works in compliance of BSI requirements, in coordination with RAQA Manager, and interface with BSI auditors during periodical audits
  • Interaction with freight partners

What you need:

Required:

  • Degree or equivalent (IESCD 6 )
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in people management
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in logistics, inventory, warehouse activity
  • Ability to handle multiple and diversified tasks within the assigned time constraints

Inventory management and optimization: monitor inventory levels in real time, conduct inventory analysis based on sales data, procurement plans, etc., and plan cargo positions reasonably.

Team management and development: establish, train and manage the warehouse team, clarify the job responsibilities of each position, formulate and implement the performance appraisal system, motivate employees to improve work efficiency and quality, regularly carry out team building activities, enhance team cohesion, cultivate and select outstanding talents, and reserve strength for the company’s development.

Process optimization and system construction: continuously optimize the warehouse operation process, introduce advanced management concepts and technical means (such as WMS system), and improve the automation and information level of warehouse operations; formulate and improve warehouse management systems, operating specifications and work standards to ensure that all work has rules to follow and meets the company’s management requirements and industry standards.

Cross-departmental communication and collaboration: Maintain close communication with procurement, sales, logistics and other departments, obtain business demand information in a timely manner, coordinate and solve problems in the receipt, delivery and distribution of goods, ensure smooth coordination of upstream and downstream supply chains, and provide strong support for the company’s business development.

Data analysis and reporting: Regularly collect, organize and analyze warehouse-related data, such as inventory turnover rate, in-and-out warehouse accuracy, warehouse cost, etc., form reports and analysis reports, provide data basis for the company’s management decision-making, put forward reasonable suggestions, and promote the improvement of the company’s warehouse management level.

Candidates need to have at least a college degree or above, majors in logistics management, warehousing management, supply chain management, etc. are preferred. More than 5 years of experience in warehousing management, experience in large warehouse management or warehousing management in mining companies, logistics companies and other industries is preferred.

Valeo Thermal Commercial Vehicles South Africa (Valeo) is looking for a dynamic and results-driven transport equipment refrigeration - Warehouse Manager to be based in our Johannesburg site.

The candidate must meet the following criteria :

As a Warehouse Manager, you will manage warehouse operations, optimize space utilization, and ensure the timely receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods. Your role involves leading a team of warehouse staff, implementing best practices, and maintaining a safe and organized working environment

The successful candidate will be responsible for the full warehouse operations which includes two sites in Linbro Park.

In addition to the warehouse function, the candidate must also be responsible for both the incoming and outgoing logistics functions via our approved courier and freight forwarding networks

The warehouse function includes the receiving of incoming goods, issuing to production and the performance of monthly cycle counts. A primary responsibility is also the control and planning of the annual stock count.

The candidate will work closely with the purchasing team to ensure orders are placed timeously and to ensure shortages are eliminated.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement warehouse policies, procedures, and operational guidelines to ensure efficient and safe warehouse operations, compliance with regulations, and customer satisfaction.

Plan and coordinate the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods, materials, and products, optimizing warehouse layout, storage systems, and workflow to maximize space utilization and productivity.

Supervise warehouse staff, including warehouse supervisors, forklift operators, pickers, and packers, providing leadership, direction, and training to ensure performance and productivity.

Monitor inventory levels, stock movements, and replenishment activities, conducting regular cycle counts, audits, and inventory checks to maintain accurate inventory records and prevent stockouts or overstocking.

Implement inventory management techniques, such as ABC analysis, FIFO / LIFO, and batch tracking, to prioritize inventory, minimize carrying costs, and optimize stock levels based on demand forecasts and sales trends.

Ensure compliance with safety regulations, security protocols, and workplace health standards, conducting regular safety inspections, training sessions, and emergency drills to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.

Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and carriers to schedule inbound and outbound shipments, track delivery schedules, and resolve logistics issues to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation of goods.

Utilize computerised system (SAGE) to manage inventory, track shipments, generate reports, and analyze warehouse performance metrics, such as order fill rates, cycle times, and accuracy.

Optimize picking, packing, and shipping processes, implementing lean principles, automation, and technology solutions (e.g., barcode scanning, RFID) to improve efficiency, accuracy, and order fulfillment speed.

Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement, sales, and production, to coordinate inventory planning, order processing, and customer delivery requirements, ensuring alignment with business objectives.

Resolve inquiries, complaints, or issues related to warehouse operations, delivery delays, or damaged goods, ensuring prompt resolution and customer satisfaction.

Conduct performance evaluations and KPI tracking for warehouse staff, measuring key metrics such as productivity, accuracy, safety, and on-time delivery, and providing feedback and coaching for improvement.

Manage facility maintenance, repairs, and housekeeping activities, ensuring cleanliness, orderliness, and compliance with environmental regulations and industry standards.

Develop contingency plans and risk mitigation strategies for emergencies, disasters, or disruptions to warehouse operations, such as power outages, equipment failures, or supply chain disruptions.

Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in warehouse management, participating in training programs, seminars, and professional development activities.

Requirements and Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field;

Proven experience in warehouse management, distribution, or logistics operations, with a track record of managing large-scale warehouses or distribution centres.

Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management principles, logistics processes, and supply chain best practices, with experience in implementing warehouse management systems (WMS).

Familiarity with safety regulations, security protocols, and workplace health standards governing warehouse operations, including OSHA.

Leadership and team management skills, with the ability to lead, motivate, and develop warehouse staff, fostering teamwork, accountability, and a culture of continuous improvement.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships, negotiate with stakeholders, and communicate effectively with internal and external partners.

Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to analyse data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to optimize warehouse operations and solve complex logistics challenges.

Proficiency in using warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory control software, and Microsoft Office applications for data analysis, reporting, and communication.

Project management skills, with the ability to plan, organize, and execute warehouse improvement projects, process enhancements, and technology implementations within scope, budget, and timeline constraints.

Adaptability and flexibility to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and adapting to changing business needs and market conditions.
