PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The purpose of a Warehouse Operator Loading is to efficiently pack and wrap pallets for loading onto bulk loads as per transfer sheets, and directly load products into trucks based on invoices. Their role is crucial in ensuring accurate and secure loading, maintaining quality standards, and contributing to the smooth operation of the warehouse.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Packing and wrapping pallets: Ensuring proper packaging and securing of products on pallets before loading them onto bulk loads, following the instructions provided in the transfer sheet. This includes correctly wrapping and labelling the pallets for identification and ease of handling.
  • Loading pallets onto bulk loads: Safely and efficiently loading packed and wrapped pallets onto bulk loads, following the transfer sheet specifications and any specific loading guidelines or instructions.
  • Direct product loading into trucks: Packing products directly into trucks following the instructions received from the Loading Supervisor, ensuring that the correct products and quantities are loaded accurately and securely.
  • Quality control: Ensuring that loaded products meet the required quality standards, including proper handling, stacking, and securing to prevent damage during transportation.
  • Equipment operation and maintenance: Operating loading equipment, such as forklifts or pallet jacks, safely and efficiently, while also performing routine inspections and basic maintenance tasks to ensure their proper functioning.
  • Collaboration and communication: Collaborating with other team members, such as supervisors, warehouse operators, and truck drivers, to coordinate loading activities, address any issues, and maintain effective communication throughout the process.
  • Record-keeping: Maintaining accurate records of loaded products, including quantities, lot numbers, and any relevant documentation, to facilitate inventory control, order tracking, and reconciliation processes.
  • Continuous improvement: Identifying opportunities for process improvements in loading and counting activities, suggesting, and implementing measures to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and overall operational effectiveness.
  • Adhering to safety guidelines and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when performing duties to mitigate potential risks.
  • Establishing and fostering a safe work environment and overall safety compliance.
  • Operate within safety standards.
  • Contribute to the overall achievement of the team's goals.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Grade 12 (Matric) certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • Proven experience of at least 2-3 years in a Loading position with experience within the FMCG industry and Cold Storage environment.
  • Valid Electric Pallet Jack License
  • Forklift License.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The purpose of a Warehouse Operator responsible for Loose Case and Layer picking is to accurately select, pack, and count products based on picking instructions. They contribute to the efficient order fulfillment process, ensuring accuracy, quality, and adherence to safety protocols. By fulfilling these responsibilities, they support the smooth operation of the warehouse and strive to meet customer satisfaction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducting loose case and layer picking activities by accurately selecting and gathering the required products or items based on picking instructions.
  • Packing the picked items securely and efficiently, ensuring proper packaging materials, labeling, and adherence to quality standards.
  • Maximise pallet stability during the picking process, with in-transit conditions and delivery vehicles.
  • Counting and verifying the picked items to ensure accuracy and completeness of the order fulfillment process.
  • Indicate out-of-stock items / short-picked items during the picking process.
  • Utilizing picking equipment to navigate through the warehouse and locate the required products efficiently.
  • Collaborating with the inventory control team to maintain accurate inventory records and report any discrepancies or issues identified during the picking process.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area, to promote efficiency and minimize errors.
  • Communicating any product or packaging concerns, such as damaged goods or incorrect labeling, to the appropriate personnel for resolution or replacement.
  • Participating in training programs or workshops to enhance picking skills, learn new techniques, and stay updated on warehouse operating procedures.
  • Following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance with company policies and guidelines.

Job Purpose

  • Responsible for the movement and control of all product inventories, including carcasses / boxes from internal and external suppliers according to company processes and procedures.
  • Responsible for the movement, control and issuing of all dry goods / consumable inventory according to company processes and procedures.
  • Ensure accurate and adequate labelling and positioning of all labels.
  • Orchestrating all paperwork to creditors department on stock intakes (On-and offsite locations)
  • Weekly stocktaking (including the posting of stock batches) of all dry goods / consumables and product inventory according to agreed SOP’s.
  • Weekly/Monthly reconciliations of Inventory movements and investigating all discrepancies/deviances to implement corrective actions.

Management Reporting and Analysis

  • Weekly/Monthly reporting of Inventory movements and variances.
  • Recognizing and reporting on patterns and trends in weekly/monthly Inventory movements and variances.
  • Serve as Finance support to the Plant Manager and Analyst team (specific with regards to stock related matters).

People Supervision

  • Supervise and control stock take teams.
  • Assure stable employee relations by managing conflict and creating a positive and performing working environment.

Qualification details

  • BCom degree in finance

Experience

  • 3 - 5 years inventory control experience
  • 1 -2 years supervisory experience

Working week

  • Tuesday to Saturday (Please note for the first few months the working week will be from Monday to Friday, however when the Malmesbury Plant starts up, the working week will change to Tuesday to Saturday)

Plants/Location

  • The candidate will have the responsibility of working at two plants located in Elsies River and Malmesbury.
  • It will be necessary for the candidate to divide their time between the plants, being present at both locations on a weekly basis.
  • Ad hoc visits to the offsite storage facilities.

    Code 10 Driver required in the Warehouse/Distribution department of a company based in Gqeberha

    Skills required: 

    • Communication skills - Must be able to communicate effectively and must be able to read and write well
    • Physical stamina – Drivers are responsible for lifting heavy items and unloading equipment onto or off of vehicles, so they need the strength and stamina to keep up with this kind of work
    • Customer service – Drivers often interact directly with customers, so strong customer service skills are necessary in order to remain professional and polite at all times and to resolve any complaints or issues with deliveries
    • Teamwork – this role involves working closely with colleagues and assisting them with deliveries and loading equipment, so applicants need to have professional collaboration skills
    • Punctuality – Drivers work a tight schedule and are required to complete a certain amount of deliveries in a set time frame, so they must be punctual and manage their time efficiently
    • Valid Code 10 Drivers License
    • Valid Public Drivers Permit (PDP)
    • Valid Forklift Driver’s License

    Duties: 

    • Inspect Vehicle every day before going out
    • Pack and load vehicle according to invoices
    • Deliver to clients as per assigned route
    • Maintain communication with Supervisors and Managers
    • Offload Goods as per Invoice at the clients
    • Review with clients all goods delivered
    • Ensure all supporting documents are signed and returned to HQ
    • Ensure delivery vehicle is roadworthy and clean at all times
    • Report any problems to the manager
    • Check loads before delivery
    • Off load goods in a safe and efficient manner
    • Obtain signatures from customers for proof of deliveries
    • Ensuring safety of goods on vehicles
    • Completing delivery schedules
    • Loading of vehicles
    • Assisting with picking of stock
    • Any other reasonable duties as assigned
