As a Risk Management Specialist, you’ll be supporting and be responsible for assisting with the administration of the enterprise risk management system and associated responsibilities for us to stay ahead of the game.
What you’ll be doing
As part of your role, your responsibilities will include:
Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) System Maintenance:
The role oversees and maintains the ERM framework to effectively identify, assess, monitor and report risks across the organization. The Risk Management Specialist ensures that risk management processes are integrated into strategic planning and daily operations. Regular updates to risk management policies and procedures are conducted to reflect changes in the regulatory environment and industry’s best practices.
System Administration and User Support:
They serve as the system administrator for the Risk Management System (RMS), ensuring the live system and training environment are consistently maintained. The Risk Management Specialist provides first-level support to users on the RMS (example, Riskonnect, Onetrust), troubleshooting system issues and managing user access and permissions. The role requires working with the RMS supplier to resolve technical problems, implement system enhancements and manage updates.
To ensure that risks and incidents are reviewed according to the organisation’s Risk Methodology and Framework, the system automation needs to be monitored.
Training and Development:
The Risk Management Specialist is responsible for designing and delivering risk-related training on the RMS to ensure all users are proficient in its use. This includes the development and maintenance of training materials ensuring that users are kept up to date with system enhancements. Providing basic governance and risk advice to all staff and managers, helping them understand the organisation’s risk management policies and practices is a key part of the role, creating a risk-aware culture among employees.
Data Quality:
The Risk Management Specialist role involves regular review and analysis of information held on the RMS to ensure data accuracy and quality and collaborates with business units to improve the quality of risk and control data.
Ensuring alignment with internal frameworks by analysing risk information and control data and ensuring reporting alignment across the different entities. Assisting the audit function in the administration and documentation of self-certifications.
Reporting:
Prepare insight reports for the Board of Directors and Risk committee on a periodic basis, identify and present key risks, facilitate Risk-focused discussions.
Regulatory Alerts and Compliance Support:
Assisting in the distribution and tracking of regulatory alerts to ensure compliance across the organization.
The Risk Management Specialist offers support to the wider compliance team in analysing risk control information to identify potential areas of concern, including managing documentation, electronic filing systems, and team procedures.
Stakeholder Engagement:
The Risk Management Specialist works closely with stakeholders to identify system enhancements and manage change requests. They manage stakeholders and users to meet deadlines and deliver on risk management objectives.
Continuous Improvement:
Continuously seek ways to improve administrative processes for risk management training, compliance tracking, and risk reporting. Support the organisation in developing and refining risk management processes in line with industry best practices.

- Develop and provide advice for procedures ensuring adherence to export control and international sanctions related regulations when it relates to risk assessment and processes implementation within assigned Cluster(s) in EMEA region
- Collaborate with cross-functional and cross-regional teams to implement effective compliance strategies/measures
- Perform export control and international sanctions due diligence of complex deals (Solution Business projects, orders, transactions, red flag alerts) according to the established EMEA EC Complex Projects Due Diligence process
- Identify, develop and implement a proper Risk Management process within the dedicated Cluster(s)/country(ies) of most risk/concern
- Cooperate in very close manner with EC Operations and EC SPOC teams to ensure effective and smooth execution of the escalation process of complex projects is maintained within the dedicated Cluster(s)
- Identify, review and assess the risks from Export Control of the acquired entities at pre-merger and post-merger integration stages within the dedicated Cluster(s)
- Lead the investigation process when it relates to violations of the EMEA EC Complex Projects Due Diligence process, report and resolve the issues
- Serve as main point of contact for US nexus and EU nexus identification, assessment and guidance to the Business stakeholders
- In collaboration with Regional Compliance team work on the Cluster/country risks overview on regular basis, propose mitigation plan and ensure it is successfully implemented by EC Operations team
- Continuous training on the complex projects’ due diligence process to the internal EC team and external stakeholders (relevant Global functions, Businesses, etc.)
What will you do?
- Develop and enhance the company’s global export control program as a member of the Global Export Control Center of Excellence (COE)
- Lead, coordinate and support export control and international sanctions adherence related internal projects and activities in the assigned Cluster(s) within EMEA region
- Be a subject matter expert (SME) on export control and international sanctions risk mitigations measures in the assigned Cluster(s) within EMEA region
- Be the point of contact for governance related matters in dedicated Cluster(s) as applicable to risk management activities

As part of your portfolio as Senior Manager: Enterprise Risk Management , you will:
- Responsible for executing the overall Enterprise Risk strategy and business plan, as well as ensuring the effective execution of risk mitigation plans across MTN Group Fintech Opcos.
- Responsible for identifying, managing, and mitigating the risks facing the Group Fintech, and leading the measurement of potential credit and market risks.
- This role is responsible for overseeing and managing the following risk portfolios in Group Fintech:
- Operational Risk, Financial Risk, Technology and Cyber Risk and Business Continuity Management.
- As part of the leadership team, the Senior Manager is also responsible for contributing to Risk and Compliance’s overall strategic goals, achieving profitable growth, and continuously improving the operational performance.
- Lead the creation of the Enterprise Risk Framework in line with the overarching business goals.
- Ensure effective implementation of the strategy through providing direction, structure, frameworks, models, plans, and roadmaps.
- Manage and oversee collaborative efforts between Leads for Operational Risk, Financial Risk, Technology and Cyber Risk, and Business Continuity Management.
- Oversee the development and implementation of Business Continuity Management, Crisis Management and Security policies and seek approval from the Group Fintech Risk Committee.
The incumbent must have the following:
- Minimum 4-year Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Risk Management/Financial Risk Management/Operational Risk Management/Business Administration, or related field.
- Postgraduate MBA and/or Master’s Degree is advantageous.
- Professional qualification in Risk Management (FRM, PRMIA ORM, CRISC) is advantageous.
- English and French (as an advantage).
- Manager track record of 4 years or more, with at least 3 years’ experience in Fintech/Banking/Financial Services.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in Risk Management and Business Continuity Management, and a solid understanding of credit and market risks.
- Hands-on experience in identifying, managing, and mitigating risks for financial institutions.
- Experience in e-commerce and electronic payment business is advantageous.
