Position Summary:

The Enterprise Risk Manager (ERM) is responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of the organisation's enterprise-wide risk management framework. The role ensures that risks are consistently identified, assessed, monitored, mitigated and reported across business units, enabling effective decision-making and long-term sustainability. The ERM works closely with the Executive Leadership and the Board of Directors to embed a strong risk culture and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Required Qualification and Experience:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Risk Management, Business Administration, Economics, or related field (required).
  • Chartered Accountant (CA) (SA) designation is advantageous.
  • Master's degree in Risk Management, Finance, or MBA is preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as FRM (Financial Risk Manager), PRM (Professional Risk Manager), or CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) are advantageous.

Experience

  • 8–10 years of relevant experience in enterprise risk management, internal audit or compliance in a financial services environment.
  • 5 years of experience in a managerial position.
  • Direct experience and liaison with the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC).
  • Experience working with ERM tools or systems is preferred.

Main Responsibilities:

Risk Framework & Governance

  • Lead the continuous development and implementation of an Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework aligned with organisational strategy.
  • Facilitate risk identification, assessment, and mitigation activities across business units.
  • Drive the adoption and implementation of risk policies, procedures, and controls in accordance with internationally accepted risk management guidelines and standards.

Risk Monitoring and Reporting

  • Monitor, analyse, and report on key risk exposures and emerging risks.
  • Maintain and track Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) to inform strategic decisions and highlight areas of operational risk.
  • Prepare regular and ad-hoc risk reports for Executive Leadership and the Board of Directors.

Operational Risk Management

  • Conduct Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs), scenario analysis, and incident reviews.
  • Support business units in developing and testing risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure operational risks are documented, escalated, and managed in accordance with policy.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing accurate risk-related data and documentation.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess risk impact of business initiatives and projects.
  • Drive and ensure the delivery of risk workshops and training sessions to promote enterprise-wide risk awareness and strengthen organisational risk management capabilities.
  • Champion the integration of a risk-conscious mindset across all levels of the organisation, fostering a culture of proactive risk management.

Support for Leadership

  • Provide analysis, insights, and recommendations to support Executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Assist in special risk-related projects including ISO certifications and audit readiness.

The successful candidate should ideally possess the following key competencies:

Qualifications:

  • Professional certification in risk management is preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience in risk management is preferred.
  • Familiarity with data analytics tools and methodologies for risk monitoring.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of enterprise risk management principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of business resilience protocols and incident response.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Reporting to the Head: Enterprise Risk Management, the successful incumbent is responsible for providing an end-to-end effective, efficient and responsive administrative and secretarial service in the office of the Head: Enterprise Risk Management.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A National Diploma in Public Administration/ Management/ Office Management/ Administration or related qualification
  • A certificate in relation to the functional discipline will be an added advantage.
  • At least 5 years' working experience as a Personal Assistant/ Secretary or in a financial environment of which 2 of the years should have been rendered for Senior Management.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Assurance, Compliance, Enterprise Risk Management is a definite advantage
  • Excellent working experience in MS Office.
  • SAP experience will be an added advantage.

Our client, a world-class luxury safari and hospitality group that runs lodges in Southern Africa, are looking for an ambitious
Financial Risk Accountant
to join their team in
Cape Town, Green Point.

This role could also suit an ambitious individual who has experience in internal audit or is looking to make that first move out of an external audit practice environment, and who has total enterprise audit exposure.

The role operates on a hybrid basis, with at least two in-office days per week and quarterly travel commitments.

Key Responsibilities:

Internal Audit

  • Develop and execute a risk-based audit plan across financial, operational, and compliance areas.
  • Assess internal controls and procedures, identifying weaknesses and recommending improvements.
  • Prepare concise audit reports for management and the Risk Committee.
  • Monitor implementation of audit recommendations and progress report.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and provide the required documentation.

Accounting and Financial Control

  • Review and test the accuracy and reliability of financial records and statements.
  • Evaluate financial control systems, including segregation of duties, authorisations, and reconciliations.
  • Audit key areas such as payroll, procurement, cash handling, inventory, and fixed assets.
  • Support the finance team in enhancing accounting processes and controls.

Risk Management

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework.
  • Assist in identifying, assessing, and prioritising key business risks.
  • Collaborate with management on risk mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain and update the risk register; provide regular reports to senior management and the board.
  • Promote risk awareness and accountability across departments.

Governance and Compliance

  • Align internal audit and risk management practices with governance principles.
  • Support policy development and compliance monitoring across the business.
  • Assist in fraud prevention and detection initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory and statutory obligations.

Qualification and Experience:

  • A professional qualification such as CA, CIA, ACCA or CIMA
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in external audit, internal audit, and/or risk management.
  • Prior exposure to ERM frameworks and corporate governance principles is highly beneficial.
  • Willingness to travel in Southern Africa for work-related commitments.

Salary:

  • R R CTC per annum
    (dependent on qualifications and experience)
