Reporting to the Senior Manager of Environmental Engineering, this position supports TSAM towards carbon emissions reduction. Activities include (but are not limited to) developing and implementing strategies to optimize energy consumption. The position forms part of the on-site team for Safety, Health, Environment & Facilities group based in Durban.
Key Performance Areas- Carbon neutrality project planning & implementation based on company strategy and commitments; identify, manage and execute projects to achieve carbon neutrality.
- Utility monitoring and reporting: implement, maintain, and upgrade systems to monitor utility consumption and report to various company structures.
- Utility budgeting and financial reporting.
- Provide training and guidance to nominated plant energy champions (energy optimization and reduction activities and carbon neutrality).
- Work with nominated plant energy champions to study and implement feasible energy efficiency and waste (muda) reduction projects.
- Responsible for energy management.
- Drive optimization of energy consumption.
- CO2 reduction projects implementation within the designated TSAM plants, including renewable energy (RE).
- BSc Engineering (Electrical / Electronic / Mechanical / Mechatronic / Chemical) Engineering completed.
- Minimum of 4 years (post-qualification) working experience is required.
- Successful completion of Certified Energy Manager (CEM) examination within 12 months of appointment is non-negotiable.
- Working knowledge of energy optimization and energy reduction projects will be advantageous.
- Working knowledge of renewable energy engineering design and implementation projects will be advantageous.
- Working experience in production engineering, maintenance engineering, operations management and systems engineering design will be advantageous.
- Completion of a reputable engineering graduate working training programme will be advantageous.

- At least 3 to 5 years of consulting experience
- Excellent communication and client liaison abilities
