PROCESS SUPPORT ENGINEER KZN R850K P/A

Our client seeks to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced technical sales person with coatings/paint/chemical experience. Must have a relevant B Degree/National Diploma (chemistry/marketing) as well as 5+ years direct sales experience in a similar field. Own reliable vehicle and valid passport is required for this position.

• BEng Industrial/Mechanical or Chemical Engineering Degree or equivalent.
• 5 years' experience with processes in an FMCG manufacturing environment is essential.
• Lean Manufacturing.
• Six Sigma.
• Expert knowledge of all plant processes.
• The ideal candidate should have experience in fermentation, baking, brewing or any related food chemical environment.
• Analyse current processes and identify opportunities to reduce costs, increase yield, minimize waste, or improve cycle time.
• Apply Lean, Six Sigma, or statistical methods to drive continuous improvement.
• Use data from control systems (e.g., SCADA and DCS) to improve performance hooting & technical support.
• Conduct mass and energy balances around: Water, steam, electrical, molasses and yeast and other on-request streams through the plant.
• Analyse information to identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and benchmark against the groups plants.
• Develop, design, and modify processes to improve efficiency, quality, and safety.
• Create and maintain process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
• Projects identified at weekly production meetings / quality meetings.
• Participate in and lead HAZOP and HACCP studies.
• Use Modprop to document projects.
• Ensure that all documentation is provided / updated upon completion of a project.
• Ensure that all relevant plant personnel are trained in new processes, following project changes.

The Process Engineer will design, implement and improve processes to enhance quality, efficiency and sustainability. A key focus of the role will be to analyse existing processes, identify area of improvement and implement changes to optimise operations. The role analyses workflows, develop process improvements and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
Relevant Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering or other relevant qualification

EXPERIENCE
At least 5 years relevant experience in similar position and/or level, in Automotive Manufacturing
Advantageous – Press and Weld Background

TECHNICAL PRE-REQUISITE

Proven working experience in Process engineering
Relevant software knowledge to design, simulate and analyse processes
Strong engineering fundamentals
Experience with Production Processes and quality
Ability to design and implement control systems to regulate process parameters
Safety Knowledge
Ability to run simulations and analyse test data.
ISO 9000, ISO14000
OHS Standards
Knowledge of Microsoft applications, with intermediate Excel
Participate in projects where required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Process Design and Optimisation -Develop new processes and improve existing process to increase efficiency, reduce costs and improve quality
• Process Improvement – Identify areas for improvement in existing processed, implementing changes and monitoring the effectiveness
• Process Analysis – Study existing process to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies and areas of improvement.
• Quality Control – ensures processes meet quality standards, through testing, analysis and the implementation of quality control measures
• Process Documentation – Creating and maintaining documentation for all processes, including work instructions and SOP’s
• Process Implementation – Oversee the implementation of new or modified processes , ensuring they meet safety standards
• Trouble Shooting and Problem Solving – Address technical issues and implement solutions to ensure process stability and reliability.
• Data Analysis – ability to analyse data, identify trends, optimise performance and improve decision making.
• Collaborate with cross functional teams , including production, maintenance and quality to control and achieve process goals.
• Continuous Improvement – Identify opportunities for process improvement and strategies to enhance efficiency and performance
• Safety – Prioritising safety in all aspects of process design and operation, ensuring safety that processes are safe for employees

Requirements:

• Proficient in English
• Minimum 2-4 years’ experience in Process Engineering/Project Management in the brewing/distilling or food manufacturing industry
• Minimum 2-4 year Bachelors/Honors Degree in Chemical/Process Engineering or Industrial Chemistry required
• Ability to generate PFD’s, PIDs, perform process calculations like mass & energy balances
• Modelling skills for plant layout, piping/mechanical design and detailing
• Experience with multidisciplinary coordination including but not limited to civil, mechanical, electrical, control & automation, production
• Ability to work in a team
• Advanced time management, analytical and interpersonal skills
• Proficient in the use of 2D and 3D CAD systems
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of Microsoft Project represents an advantage
• Available for travel/business trips/relocation

Responsibilities :

• Reviewing the project deliverables to define process requirements
• Development of PFDs, PIDS, equipment layouts
• Confirming project design requirements with the client and other stakeholders
• Design and manage the brewing and distilling processes to achieve the desired product characteristics, applying relevant design principles that help maximize safety and performance of the process line.
• Ensure processes comply with safety and quality standards.
• Perform process simulations and troubleshooting issues.
• Creating appropriate piping, insulation, instrument & equipment specifications
• Producing tender or RFQ documents as required by the project
• Creating, verifying and validating all Material Take Off (MTOs).
• Liaise with equipment, instrument and installation suppliers regarding specifications, design & delivery
• Preparing and completing project plans
• Proposing design improvements, implementing changes and performing quality assurance
• Monitor and report on progress of the project to all stakeholders.
• Perform risk assessments, FMEA, HAZOPS, Hazardous Areas Classifications (HAC) & LOPA
• Develop Functional Design Specifications (FDS) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
• On site commissioning of plant and equipment including mechanical completion verification, punch listing, cold & hot commissioning, performance acceptance testing (PAT) and final handover
