Alt Gen is looking for a Customer Operations Associate to join a renewable energy trader in Cape Town. The role will manage the onboarding process for new customers, to ensure smooth transitions and client satisfaction. The role will also build and maintain strong customer relationships, oversee post-sales project management activities and draft reports. Education Requirements Bachelors in Business, Project Management, Engineering or related field Experience Requirements Demonstrated experience in setting up customer onboarding processes, account management or similar Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools (e.g, Trello, Asana, MS Project) Proven track record in documenting, refining, and managing processes to ensure consistency and efficiency Comfortable understanding and explaining technical details, particularly around energy usage and regulatory frameworks Familiarity with CRM systems and practices Responsibilities Oversee the end-to-end onboarding process, ensuring all documentation and initial support are in place for a smooth transition. Manage project timelines and deliverables. Serve as the primary contact for enquiries, maintaining strong ties with both new and existing customers to ensure ongoing satisfaction. Prepare and distribute regular reports detailing energy usage, the Company's performance, and relevant regulatory updates. Proactively engage customers to understand their objectives and maximise the value they receive from the Company. Track key performance metrics across accounts. Address customer concerns swiftly, coordinating with internal teams to resolve service-related problems and sustain high satisfaction levels. Identify opportunities to refine onboarding and account management workflows. Implement best practices for greater efficiency and coordinate cross-functional projects to meet milestones. Work closely with technical teams to understand and convey product details, ensuring customers grasp essential energy and regulatory nuances. About the team:

Fund Operations is a global team of 30 people broadly split into 5 sub teams all sharing the same core responsibility of oversight and facilitation of transfer agent activities and supporting clients who invest in our clients Fund Ranges.

The Fund Operations team supports the business by facilitating flows into and out of the funds. Fund Operations owns the relationship with Transfer Agent and is responsible for the oversight of their processes. As a fund operations associate you will take on responsibility for vendor oversight with specific focus on finance related tasks performed by the vendor.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of tasks performed by third-party service provider (Bank reconciliations, Collections from/Payments to investors and brokers, Taxation, Commissions and rebates)
  • Review bank reconciliations and query outstanding items to ensure prompt and appropriate allocation. Monitoring accounts for overdrafts and resolving it timeously
  • Attend to queries relating to Finance and Tax matters
  • Perform analytical review/trend analysis on various data relating to clients and brokers
  • Establish good working relationships across all relevant teams such as Tax, Third Party Service provider, Compliance and various other Operations teams across the business
  • Manage the banking relationships for all inflow bank accounts
  • Participation in Finance, Banking, Tax and Other regulatory projects
  • Identify key risks and ensure effective controls are in place (both at outsourced provider and internally)
  • Process improvement – documentation and implementation of more efficient processes

Requirements:

  • Newly Qualified CA(SA) with asset management or financial services auditing experience, OR B. Com with 3 – 5 years with asset management relevant experience
  • Experience in analysis and interpretation of data would be advantageous
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools, for example Excel and Power BI

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Process Improvement Specialist to join the Operations team. The individual will be instrumental in driving continuous improvement initiatives across all business units in the organization, ensuring adherence to ISO 9001:2015 standards and enhancing overall operational efficiency. The role involves analyzing existing processes, identifying areas for optimization, and implementing solutions that streamline workflows, reduce waste, and improve product and service quality.

Requirements

Process Analysis and Assessment
  • Conduct analyses of current business processes in IPP operations, asset management, and solar plant construction to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.
  • Map and document processes using flowcharts, process mapping software, and other relevant tools.
Process Optimisation & Continuous Improvement
  • Identify and implement process improvements aligned with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 55000 (Asset Management), and best practices in renewable energy and infrastructure projects.
  • Develop and implement Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen-based improvement strategies to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Standardise asset management, procurement, and maintenance processes to optimise performance across the organisation.
  • Ensure that improvements align with NERSA, Eskom Grid Code, SANS, and other industry regulations.
Data Collection, Performance Monitoring, and Reporting
  • Collect and analyse operational data to track efficiency, identify trends, and validate improvements.
  • Define and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to solar plant efficiency, downtime reduction, asset performance, and maintenance schedules.
  • Utilise statistical tools and data-driven decision-making techniques to validate and optimise improvements.
Compliance and Risk Management
  • Ensure all process improvement initiatives align with the organisation’s Quality Management System (QMS) and ISO 9001:2015 standards.
  • Participate in internal and external audits and work closely with the compliance and risk management teams to address process gaps.
  • Support risk assessments for process inefficiencies, compliance failures, and operational vulnerabilities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Work closely with internal business unit teams to implement and sustain improvements.
  • Facilitate workshops, training sessions, and change management initiatives to ensure smooth adoption of new processes.
  • Engage with suppliers, vendors, and contractors to drive supply chain and vendor quality improvements.
Digital Transformation & Technology Integration
  • Support the implementation and optimisation of digital tools, including ERP systems, SharePoint, Basecamp, SCADA, and CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems).
  • Identify opportunities for automation and digitisation of processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
  • Ensure alignment between process improvements and the organisation’s IT and data strategy.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

Education
  • Undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Quality Management, Operations Management, or a related field that provides a strong foundation in process analysis, quality principles, and improvement methodologies.
Experience
  • 5-7 years of demonstrable work experience in process improvement, quality management, or operational efficiency roles, preferably in the renewable energy, utilities, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Proven experience in applying Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or other process improvement methodologies to achieve measurable business results. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of ISO 9001:2015 and Quality Management Systems (QMS). Experience with ISO 55000 (Asset Management) is an advantage.
  • Exposure to NERSA regulations, Eskom compliance standards, SANS, and environmental regulations is preferred.
  • Experience working in solar PV plant construction, operation, and asset management is a plus.
