MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to)

  • Perform and carry out planned and unplanned maintenance on Injection moulding machines, assembly machines, wadding machines, robotic machines and plant utilities.
  • Ensure accurate capturing of all breakdowns on DMS.
  • Perform plant maintenance & remedial work as per DMS.
  • Perform accurate problem solving for all major breakdowns using applicable tools, e.g. fishbone, 5WHYs etc.
  • Participate in failure analysis programs in conjunction with other departments.
  • Carry out fault finding and diagnose on pneumatic and hydraulic circuits.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety work procedures and ensure all are up to date.
  • Conduct all mechanical repairs first time working independently.
  • Ensure machines run productively and efficiently daily by monitoring set measures.
  • Contribute to the reduction and eliminating of scrap in all machines in the plant.
  • Oversee Setters by coaching employees sharpening their technical skills.
  • Perform standby duties in line with business requirements.
  • Training of apprentices, trainees and other junior stuff.
  • Perform any reasonable request in line with the business requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Matric or equivalent.
  • Trade tested as Fitter / Millwright (with demonstrated mechanical aptitude).
  • Technical tertiary qualification N6 Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5-8 years in a technical role or similar role.
  • Must be computer literate (Microsoft Office).
  • Injection moulding mechanical fitting experience (advantageous).
  • Advanced hydraulic training & experience (advantageous).
  • Hands on experience setting up IMM robots (advantageous).

Main Responsibilities
Safety

  • Ensure compliance to all departmental and plant safety rules and regulations. All non-conformances should be dealt with immediately all unresolved issues must be raised with Mechanical Engineer/ Team Leader or Department Manager. Follow the correct WSWP and Process Instruction for all tasks performed. Carry out continuous improvement and process optimization to ensure safety.

Productivity

  • Support production within the Diaper, Diaper Pants and Femcare operation by providing shift mechanical support to the operations teams.
  • Carry out action plans as directed to solve problems thereby minimizing mechanical delay.
  • Analyse mechanical delay and resolve problems as part of cross-functional teams.
  • Participate in Asset product changeovers and minimise task tooltime
  • Support auxiliary equipment and utilities repair in case of fault/ breakdown
  • Follow proper shift and information handover as per process

Maintenance

  • To assist with maintenance activities on all mechanical equipment and installation.
  • To ensure that mechanical spares are available and ready for use when required or as directed.

Duties And Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting

  • Diagnose and repair issues with machinery, both mechanical and electronic, including escalation of complex issues when required.
  • Perform high-quality preventative and emergency maintenance on production and card personalisation equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and service all operations equipment including Entrust MX6100, Matica S5200LX, MPR3000 machines, industrial shrink wrappers, industrial shredders, embossers, laminators, and related systems.
  • Carry out day-to-day repairs such as:

  • Cleaning rollers, sensors, cavities, and other key components.

  • Calibrating sensors, data read/write devices, and application pressures.
  • Evaluating and replacing worn or misaligned parts (servo & stepper motors, spindles, clutches, belts, bearings, etc.).
  • Evaluating and replacing temperature, proximity, and position sensors.
  • Making software adjustments for temperature, hardware positioning, and other performance factors.

  • Utilise diagnostic tools (voltmeters, laptops, test equipment) and follow repair manuals to troubleshoot and resolve card printer system issues.

  • Perform machine testing, calibration, and quality assurance checks before client delivery.

Production Support and Operations

  • Adjust equipment settings to ensure quality production output.

  • Maintain accurate production and maintenance documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
