Purpose of the JobThe role of an Electrical Maintenance Operator is critical in ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and reliability of electrical systems . Successful candidates will support maintenance teams, operate electrical devices and systems, and accurately collect field data. By doing so, they play a key role in improving productivity and plant sustainability.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs part of Sasol’s Secunda operations, appointed candidates will be responsible for:
- Applying and maintaining safety standards in the workplace.
- Participating in root cause analyses (RCAs) and providing valuable feedback to improve systems.
- Attending daily morning meetings to discuss and plan work assignments.
- Performing plant inspections, maintenance, and repairs to ensure maximum equipment reliability.
- Providing regular feedback to supervisors and customers on progress.
- Maintaining good housekeeping and following waste disposal procedures.
- Conducting IMS inspections to sustain and improve plant safety and stability.
- Identifying faults and improvement opportunities within their work areas.
- Attending training courses and seminars to improve skills and competencies.
- Supporting Sasol’s business goals and vision by meeting deadlines and delivering quality work.
To qualify, applicants must have:
- Grade 12 with Maths, Science, and English or N3 Certificate (mandatory).
- NQF Level 2 Electrical occupational qualification from an accredited SETA or training authority (mandatory).
- A minimum of 1–2 years’ relevant working experience in electrical maintenance or operations.

MAIN PURPOSE
Providing comprehensive technical services for the efficient and safe operation of electronic technology for health, safety and productivity in the mining sector.
Key Responsibilities
Technical
- Installation, repairing, certification and technical support of electronic products and systems to the highest technical and safety standards on the specified mine/s.
- Set up and tests units to meet specified requirements.
- Quality checks all work as per company quality policy.
- Troubleshoot problems to determine root cause of issue and recommend a corrective action or escalate problem to senior level.
- Maintenance of the electronic equipment and software, to ensure it is according to company standards and client scope of work.
- Reporting and recording further maintenance requirements.
- Assist with new Projects.
- Operates hand tools and small power tools and understand their use and function.
- Housekeeping
- Any other reasonable duties given to you by your direct supervisor / Manager.
- Liaise with other technical employees, and customers on the site to support in ensuring quality and safety of work and that contractual obligations are met.
- Keep supervisor updated of all unresolved and/or potential problems that would negatively affect the customer or our company.
- Feedback on a regular basis to Technical coordinator and Supervisor.
- Provides support to the Senior Technician and Supervisor on assignments and works in other departments and/or miscellaneous assignments as instructed.
- Developing of customer relations.
- Completion of required documentation, reports and paperwork for the mine, customers and Technical coordinator / Supervisor.
- Adhere to all customer safety regulations at all times.
- Adhere to specific risk assessment before commencing daily tasks.
- Ensure medical and inductions are valid
- N5 Electrical/Electronics
- 4 years-experience in electronics (hardware and software) and IT (hardware, networks and software).
- Knowledge of company product (Advantage)
- Good computer skills (Microsoft package).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Own Vehicle.
- Organization and Time-management: staying on task, personal organization, managing schedules, multi-tasking and following of rules and regulations.
- Problem solving displays insight and intelligence, innovative thinker, decisiveness, prudent decision making, adaptable and flexible, improving work processes, develops technical knowledge and documentation actions and results.

Job Purpose
The Principal Environmental Consultant will play a strategic and leadership role in delivering complex environmental and social projects across Africa, with a particular emphasis on Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) processes within South Africa. The role requires expertise in managing multidisciplinary teams and delivering high-quality outputs that meet national regulatory frameworks and international best practice standards, including those of international financial institutions and development lenders (e.g., IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles).
Key responsibilities include leading and overseeing the end-to-end implementation of large-scale ESIA and related environmental and social projects. This encompasses project scoping, impact assessment, report preparation, coordination of specialist studies, public and stakeholder engagement, regulatory authority consultations, and overall project management and administration.
The Principal Environmental Consultant will also ensure that all deliverables are technically robust, legally compliant, and aligned with client expectations. Strong emphasis will be placed on quality assurance, risk management, client relationship development, and mentoring of junior staff.
Minimum Requirements & Responsibilities
- Over 15 years’ experience in ESIAs with a strong background in energy-related projects.
- B.Sc. (Hons) or Master’s in environmental or Natural Sciences or similar qualification.
- Must have a sound knowledge of environmental legislation processes within South Africa, with an opportunity to manage ESIAs in the rest of Africa.
- Must have sound project management knowledge (methodology, proposal/ report compilation, budget control, timely project completion, write-off presentation skills, etc.).
- Must develop and sustain client relationships, leading to repeat business.
- Must be able to lead the preparation and submission of winning proposals.
- Must be able to manage large, complex ESIA projects.
- Must be able to travel within South Africa and possibly other African countries.
- Must be able to complete and review reports.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
- Should have a valid driver’s license.
- Sound report writing skills.
- Excellent command / highly proficient in spoken and written English.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritise work.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Should be able to work well in a team and communicate confidently with others.
- The ability to work to deadlines and within set budgets is essential.
