The Role
You Will Be Responsible For:
- Developing of intellectual property - research and development of mechanical applications and sellable equipment that relates to bulk materials handling and the agri industry
- Feasibility and analytical studies and investigation of new technologies and conceptual designs
- Proficient in stress analysis, heat transfer, design for manufacture and material strength analysis
- Must be able to create drawings in Solidworks, layout and detailing
- Ensures that designs are fit for purpose, fully reflect the client requirements, are cost effective and efficient to manufacture
- Must understand manufacturing practices and ensure that the drawings are produced in such a way that the boilermaker, etc. understands the requirements
- Conducting technical evaluation of tenders and providing recommendations for designs, costing and technical descriptions
- Project management from concept design to implementation – total turnkey projects and responsibility
- Reviewing and assessing operational practices on projects and plant with the view of developing better practical solutions. As well as trouble shoot problematic operating systems and propose practical and sellable solutions
- Providing engineering mechanical and electronic solutions and liaising with all engineering disciplines to present a complete income-based solution that is according to the user requirements. Independently resolve technical issues and constraints throughout the design cycle
- Utilising actual mathematical and engineering calculations as well as different software packages to verify optimum designs for at least flow dynamics, discreet element modelling and strength of materials. The results of these verifications and validations to be delivered in a proper format that will form part of the design report.
- Preparation of material handling equipment documentation (equipment data sheets, specifications and scope of works) for obtaining prices and for procurement
- Information management of all product development processes, drawings, intellectual property and documentation
- Assist in component sourcing and supplier selection. Liaising with suppliers or contractors to coordinate the review of drawings and documents.
- Liaising with third party Engineering Consultants in the development of specialised engineering solutions and equipment design
- Organize personnel, suppliers and consultants to ensure timely project delivery with minimal re-work
- Review all documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Preparing progress reports and payment certificates on projects
- Keep in touch with developments in the bulk materials handling and agri industry
- Site visits, site supervision, commissioning and inspection when required
- Follow Company procedures
