We are recruiting for an Electrical Project Engineer (Design and Project Management) to join our dynamic team.
The successful incumbent will be responsible for coordinating project elements, as well as ensuring the project remains within budget to meet the requirements of the customer’s needs. Responsible for multiple highly complex major projects requiring innovative original solutions where results are key to successful completion of major projects.
Education:
- Professional Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (B.Eng) , or Technology or Science Bachelor’s Degree and Honours (B.Tech Hons, B.Sc. Hons, or B.EngTech Hons)
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of post-graduate experience within the Consulting Engineering field.
Professional Status:
- Registration as a Professional Engineer or a Professional Engineering Technologist preferred. (Exceptional applicants registered as Candidate Engineers or Candidate Engineering Technologists may be considered – eligible for professional registration within 1 year of employment.)

Main Responsibilities:
- Electrical Reticulation and Building Services Design: Fully develop designs and prepare technical documentation for electrical reticulation systems and building services.
- Managing Projects through all ECSA Stages: Oversee projects from inception to close-out, ensuring compliance with ECSA's prescribed stages and standards.
- Task-Based Services: Conduct feasibility studies, audits, and other specialised assessments as required.
- Project Management: Plan, execute, and monitor electrical engineering projects ensuring they are completed on time, within scope and budget.
- Contract Management: Administer contracts in accordance with Condition of Contract frameworks such as FIDIC and JBCC.
- Compliance with OHS Act and Construction Regulations: Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements during project execution.
- Technical and Software Proficiency: Use tools like DigSilent PowerFactory, Bentley MicroStation, PowerOffice, PowaMaster, ReticMaster, Relux for drafting, analysis, and design.
- Client Interaction and Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals and meeting targets.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed reports, maintain records, and provide progress updates to clients and stakeholders.
- Business Development: Identify new opportunities and develop relationships with potential clients. Prepare proposals, presentations, and bid documentation to secure new projects. Work as part of the team to align business development strategies with organisational goals.

Own vehicle, Valid Drivers Licence, Willing to travel to site.

What you'll do
Responsibilities- Be part of the design and documentation of electrical power distribution systems (HV/MV/LV switchgear, transformers, UPS, drives).
- Actively work in turning customer requirements into practical, compliant solutions.
- Get hands‑on exposure to testing, installation and commissioning activities.
- Collaborate with experienced engineers, project managers and suppliers—both in Norway and internationally.
- 1-5 years of experience in electrical engineering for power systems (offshore/industrial or utility) covering parts of: HV/MV (AIS/GIS 5-132 kV+), LV switchboards, transformers (dry/oil), frequency converters, UPS, generator control or 1-5 years' experience in Electrical Automation where the main focus is on the interfaces between the electrical equipment and Automation system (e.g. IEC 61850, Profinet, ethernet networks)
- A plus is if you have:
- Understanding of multifunction protection relays and how protection fits in a power system; hands‑on relay configuration/testing.
- Understanding of Cyber Security regarding electrical systems.
- BSc/MSc in Electric Power Engineering / Automation or equivalent. (Relevant experience may meet the requirements for candidates without the required formal education)

- Prepare and implement investment programme for his / her area of responsibility.

- Participate in negotiation for the supply of equipment and engineering contracts with the service providers, in collaboration with the Procurement Project Team.

- Be responsible for incorporation of local legislation requirements, Group standards and best practices to all engineering and construction projects.
- Support the implementation of HSE programmes to ensure constant adherence and compliance to the Company’s HSEQ and security standards, any local by-laws and government legislation so as to minimise all risk pertaining to the company’s assets and stock, to be an excellent corporate citizen, remain operational and ensure the safety of all people.
- Effectively manage and minimise HSE risk within area of responsibility by ensuring: Compliance with all HSE Policies, rules, guideline and legal requirements. Promotion of safe working environment within your sphere of influence and positively contributing to the company HSE KPIs and risk reduction strategies. That HSE competency requirements are identified & enforced within area of responsibility.
- Ensure effective risk management and internal control, including asset management, for area of responsibility.
- Effectively monitor and evaluate variation orders associated with project scope and cost changes.
- Provide regular updates to technical manager regarding the projects and providing explanations on any delay with regards to the projects.
- Make use of the Project Management tool for Project Management, Document Repository, and Management.
- Ensure all project data added / uploaded is following the System Health and Governance rules set up with the system, thereby ensuring accurate monitoring of projects.
- Ensure assets for all completed projects are added to the asset register and demolished assets are also removed from the asset register. Data Packs and Safety file handed over to the site on completion of the work.
- Provide technical support to Site Maintenance Engineers and Bulk Customer Sites Teams.
- Holds a BSc or BTech degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering. A Project Management qualification is considered an added advantage.
- Possesses a minimum of six years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with solid expertise in technical engineering and construction within the petroleum sector.
- Demonstrates a high level of problem-solving ability, strong negotiation skills, and tenacity. Proactively challenges assumptions, identifies underlying issues, and drives effective solutions.
- A good knowledge of all relevant legislation that guides the industry, e.g. OHS-Act, SANS Standards, API Codes, etc.
- English is the working language.
- A high level of verbal & non-verbal communication.
- Strong Project Management and Evaluation skills
