About Kuda:
Kuda is a money app for Africans on a mission to make financial services accessible, affordable and rewarding for every African on the planet.

We’re a tribe of passionate and diverse people who dreamed of building an inclusive money app that Africans would love so it’s only right that we ended up with the name ‘Kuda’ which means ‘love’ in Shona, a language spoken in the southern part of Africa.

We’re giving Africans around the world a better alternative to traditional finance by delivering money transfers, smart budgeting and instant access to credit through digital devices.
We’ve raised over $90 million from some of the world's most respected institutional investors, and we’re rolling out our game-changing services globally from our offices in Nigeria, South Africa, and the UK.

Role Overview:

As a Credit Risk Analytics Manager, you will be a key driver in shaping the direction of our credit products and enhancing our decision-making process. You’ll lead a talented analytics team, providing critical data-driven insights that will influence product design, acquisition strategies, portfolio management, collections, and overall P&L performance. Your analysis will directly impact core business metrics, with your recommendations playing a pivotal role in optimizing and improving the performance of our credit products.

You will be expected to deep dive into large data sets to identify trends, forecast P&L, and provide actionable insights that will guide decision-making at every stage of the credit lifecycle. With the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and present your findings to C-level executives, you will drive strategy, improve processes, and support your team members in executing key initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end credit product analytics, from pricing and underwriting policies to collections and portfolio performance optimization.
  • Analyze and optimize portfolio performance, policy rules, score cut-offs, and credit limits, driving improvements that directly impact core business metrics such as risk and profitability.
  • Forecast P&L, assess affordability, and recommend credit limits, ensuring alignment with business objectives and customer needs.
  • Drive strategy through A/B testing for lending products and collections strategies, ensuring constant iteration and improvement of the credit products.
  • Deliver ad-hoc analyses and business intelligence (BI) reports to support business decisions, helping guide the evolution of credit products and performance monitoring.
  • Present data-driven insights to C-level executives, explaining trends and making recommendations that influence business decisions.
  • Lead and mentor your team, fostering a collaborative environment that empowers team members to deep dive into data, find actionable insights, and execute strategies effectively.

Who you’ll work with:
You’ll collaborate across Credit Risk, Collection, Finance, Product, Engineering and Data teams - ensuring our credit products are competitive, sustainable, and customer-focused.

We are seeking someone who can:

  • Drive decision-making with actionable insights, recommendations and solutions that improve products and impact key business metrics.
  • Deep dive into data, translating complex information into clear recommendations for stakeholders.
  • Lead a team, providing support, guidance, and mentorship, while creating an environment where team members can grow and excel.
  • Present complex findings to senior leadership, including C-level executives, explaining trends and making data-driven recommendations.
  • Work cross-functionally with multiple teams to ensure the alignment of business strategies, while delivering results that impact the company’s success.
  • A degree in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a related field.
  • Credit Strategy Expertise: Proven experience in designing and executing credit strategies such as underwriting policy rules, score cut-offs, credit limit assignments, and pricing strategy on a consumer credit portfolio.
  • 5+ years of experience in credit risk analytics or data analysis, with at least 2 to 3 years of experience leading a team.
  • Must have

    • Strong understanding of A/B testing methodologies and statistical testing.

    • Experience with statistical software packages (open-source languages like Python or R preferred).

    • Deep knowledge of credit portfolio performance metrics, including, but not limited to annualized loss, vintage curves, roll rate, exposure at default (EAD), and loss given default (LGD).
