The Data Analyst and Visualisation Specialist will drive improvement of the data management maturity levels and provide the necessary technical support to client projects to support reliable and effective decision-making, appropriate usage, and protection thereof.

Responsibilities

The main purpose of this position is to conduct business and data analysis and document requirements in a manner that is suitable for Data Management solutions; this includes but is not limited to:

  • Discover data by applying data discovery mechanisms to establish the data sets within the organisation.
  • Identify data profiles of datasets discovered to determine completeness and compliance as well as for the purpose of inventory management.
  • Establish relationships between data elements and their impact on the business.
  • Understand business requirements and address matters of data completeness and data quality.
  • Conduct analysis to track dataset lifecycle from its initial generation to its eventual archival and/or deletion.
  • Conduct data analysis to determine various categories of data and information.
  • Conduct data analysis to determine the importance of the data to the business and the probability of reuse.
  • Produce regular reports and provide status updates as well as information for business domain.
  • Develop and manage stakeholder relations effectively to promote data management across the organisation and support reliable decision-making and appropriate data usage.
  • Provide input as data transitions from source to destination.
  • To provide data storytelling through visualisation to ensure effective understanding and interpretation of information.
  • To provide and ensure effectiveness of data visualisation techniques to enable deeper business insight.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must have:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent (e.g., BCom Informatics, BSc Information Systems, BSc Informatics, BTech); and
  • Data Management Certification (e.g. DAMA CDMP)
  • Minimum eight years' experience in data analysis; and
  • Solid exposure to Agile methodology.
  • Advanced knowledge of Information Management Business Analysis (minimum of 5 years' experience in Information Management).

Background

An implementation study on the dapivirine vaginal ring (DVR) was conducted in South Africa, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Uganda and Eswatini. The study generated quantitative data on uptake, adherence, and user experiences. We are seeking a qualified Biostatistician to support data analysis for an implementation study on the dapivirine vaginal ring, a long-acting biomedical HIV prevention method. The consultant will analyze quantitative data on uptake, adherence, and user experiences, producing report and publication-ready results to inform regulatory, policy and programmatic decisions.

Scope of Work

· Review study protocol, objectives, and datasets.

· Develop and finalize a statistical analysis plan (SAP).

· Clean and merge datasets

· Conduct appropriate statistical analyses, including descriptive, inferential, and multivariable analyses

· Provide guidance on data quality, management, and handling of missing data.

· Generate report and publication-ready tables, figures, and outputs.

· Contribute to interpretation of findings and drafting of results sections for reports and manuscripts.

· Participate in virtual meetings with the study team as needed.

Deliverables

· Finalize statistical analysis plan.

· Clean and merge datasets

· Write reproducible code (Stata/R/SAS preferred) and conduct appropriate statistical analyses.

· Comprehensive results tables and figures (report and publication ready).

We are seeking a highly accomplished and visionary Business Intelligence Developer to join our team. As a BI Developer, you will report into the
Business Intelligence Manager
and be responsible for developing and maintaining BI and Reporting solutions.

Comptencies

  • Proficient in reporting writing tools such as SSRS, dashboarding tools like Power Bi.
  • Solid understanding of relational databases, Microsoft T-SQL.
  • Solid understanding of ETL processes.
  • Understanding of scheduling tools such as control-m.
  • Fundamental understanding of basic warehouse concepts.
  • Performance tuning of complex SQL queries.

Outline of main duties and responsibilities

As a Business Intelligence Developer, you will be expected to:

  • Work with both Business Analysts and business owners to develop and enhance reports and dashboards.
  • Maintain and enhance existing ETL processes.
  • Be on regular after-hour stand-by support for the data warehouse loads.
  • Performance tuning of stored procedures and reports.
  • Ensure that development standards and processes are followed according to Apex's best practices.

Skills And Experience

  • A degree or diploma (3 years) with majors Information Systems or Computer Science will be a strong advantage.
  • A good working knowledge of IT systems in a corporate environment.
  • At least 2-3 years of solid SQL Server development experience, with profiency in report writing skills. This includes but not limited to building complex stored procedures, functions, and views.
  • 3-5 years' experience in building integration solutions independently.
  • Strong attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including an ability to work independently from the business analyst team when appropriate.
  • A high tolerance for ambiguity as requirements is not always clear at the start of a project and can change as users and analysts start to see the data.
  • Self-starter who can take the initiative to learn new technologies independently and not just wait to be sent on training.
  • Solid time management and communication skills essential.
  • Ability to multi-task and to work on multiple project streams simultaneously.
  • High personal integrity.
  • The below skills are not an absolute requirement but would give the candidate a significant advantage over others.

  • Scheduling tools such Control-m

  • Cloud based database solutions like Snowflake
  • Cloud based ETL solutions like DBT
  • A background in Investment and Financial Accounting

Reporting structure

You will report to the team manager of the Business Intelligence Team for Open Ended Funds (SA).

Remuneration level

Remuneration is market related depending on experience.
