Job Description

Vacancy exists in the Value Chain Procurement Department, which is part of the Customer Service Division based in Johannesburg Sandton Office (Spartan Crescent) & Boksburg Office (Atlas Road). This position reports to the Value Chain Procurement Manager and will focus on the Supply Chain and Inventory Management of Accessory supply.

CONTRACT DURATION

  • 12 Months Contract

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Overall Inventory Management
  • Manage dealer back-order aging
  • Maintain Inventory stock months
  • Manage forecast performance
  • Manage ETD Accuracy

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • NQF Level 6 with 360 credits on level 8 framework (Bachelor’s degree / Advanced Diploma/ B Tech) Engineering, Supply Chain Management/Finance Management/Business Administration Management/Logistics Management or similar
  • Minimum 3 years working experience in Supply Chain/ Logistics/ Procurement.
  • Project Management & automotive industry experience would be an advantage.

  • MRP system application experience, such as SAP,

WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE

Inventory Control & Cycle Counting

  • Prepare and execute daily cycle counts and monthly stock counts across raw, pack, and material components.
  • Forecast inventory needs using historical usage trends and production plans.
  • Investigate and resolve material variances in coordination with Sloc Owners.
  • Set up and manage inventory control systems to prevent overstocking, stockouts, and obsolescence (e.g., slow-moving stock and expiry risks).

Damage & Quality Reporting

  • Report and analyze damages promptly.
  • Support the Quality team with reject processes and material upliftment workflows.
  • Maintain documentation and audit trails for quality-related returns and rejects.

Operational Support & Auditing

  • Manage and audit the picking and return process to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Fully support the team with materials handling, ensuring timely system transactions (e.g., GRN, 101, 933, 934, etc.).
  • Monitor the decanting and rework output daily.

System & Process Improvement

  • Drive continuous improvement projects using Lean, TOC, and 5S methodologies.
  • Analyze data, evaluate processes, and implement CIP projects focused on flow, waste reduction, and layout optimization.
  • Document and report performance metrics (KPIs) and contribute to savings and waste reduction initiatives.

Administrative & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Assist with queries and follow-ups on Proof of Delivery (POD) and invoice reconciliations.
  • Raise service requests for suppliers and resolve DCIW/payment issues.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and provide regular reports to stakeholders (e.g., MUV/MUC, damage reports).

People & Performance

  • Liaise with internal teams (e.g., production, quality, procurement) and external partners (e.g., DHL, suppliers).
  • Supervise material pullers and ensure alignment with production requirements.
  • Train and coach staff on inventory systems and problem-solving principles.

The Logistics Coordinator supports the Cold Store Manager by executing day-to-day tasks

related to operational planning, scheduling, and client communication. This role

ensures that client instructions are translated into actionable tasks and assists in

monitoring operational efficiency. The Logistics Coordinator plays a critical role in

ensuring smooth workflows, accurate documentation, and timely communication

with both internal teams and clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

Client Instruction Management :

  • Receive and log client instructions regarding product storage, handling, and dispatch.
  • Verify and clarify client requirements with the Cold Store Manager when necessary.
  • Ensure that instructions are accurately conveyed to relevant internal departments. All instructions must also be captured on the WMS system.

Operational Coordination :

  • Schedule inbound and outbound shipments in alignment with client needs and operational capacity.
  • Coordinate with the Operations team to ensure timely execution of storage, inspections and dispatch activities.
  • Input all required tasks on the WMS system.
  • Arrange inspection activities with the relevant authorities.
  • Monitor the progress of daily tasks and escalate issues to the Cold Store Manager as needed.

Documentation and Reporting :

  • Maintain accurate records of product movement, including receipts, dispatches, and inventory updates.
  • Prepare and distribute operational schedules and updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Generate reports on daily throughput, inventory levels, and order status for the Cold Store Manager.

Communication :

  • Act as a point of contact for clients regarding order status and updates.
  • Provide clear and timely communication between clients, the Cold Store Manager, and internal teams.
  • Address client inquiries and escalate unresolved issues to the Cold Store Manager.

Compliance Support :

  • Ensure that all processes align with regulatory and client-specific requirements (e.g. Special Markets, SAGAP, SOLAS, PPECB) as well as internal Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining documentation for audits and inspections as directed by the Cold Store Manager.
  • Identify areas for improvement in scheduling and coordination processes.
  • Provide feedback to the Cold Store Manager to enhance operational efficiency and client satisfaction.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR :

Educational Requirements :

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; a diploma or degree in Logistics, or Supply Chain Management is preferred.
  • Training or certification in logistics or warehouse management is advantageous.

Experience :

  • 2+ years of experience in logistics, planning, or warehouse coordination, preferably in a fruit cold storage environment.
  • Familiarity with scheduling and warehouse management systems (WMS) is an advantage.

Skills :

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Logistics Manager

As a Logistics Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of logistics operations to ensure the efficient and timely movement of goods and materials. This role involves strategic planning, coordination, and optimization of logistics processes to meet customer demands while minimizing costs and maximizing efficiency. The Logistics Manager plays a crucial role in managing the logistics team and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and distribution partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Planning:
    Develop and implement strategic plans for logistics operations to optimize efficiency and meet business objectives.
    Analyze logistics trends, market conditions, and customer requirements to identify opportunities for improvement.
  2. Supply Chain Management:
    Coordinate and manage the procurement, transportation, and warehousing of goods and materials.
    Ensure timely delivery of products to customers while minimizing transportation costs and inventory levels.
    Oversee inventory management processes to maintain optimal stock levels and minimize stockouts.
    Supervise and provide guidance to the logistics team, including warehouse staff, drivers, and dispatchers.
    Set performance goals, conduct performance evaluations, and provide training and development opportunities for team members.
  3. Vendor and Supplier Management:
    Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and third-party logistics providers.
    Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to ensure cost-effective and reliable logistics services.
  4. Compliance and Risk Management:
    Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to transportation, safety, and environmental regulations.
    Implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential disruptions in logistics operations.
  5. Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
    Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the effectiveness of logistics operations.
    Prepare regular reports on logistics performance, cost analysis, and efficiency improvements.
    Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings in logistics operations.
    Implement best practices and new technologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  2. Proven experience in logistics management, preferably in a similar industry or environment.
  3. Strong leadership and team management skills.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  5. Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office suite.
  6. Knowledge of transportation regulations, inventory management, and supply chain principles.
  7. Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  8. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Reporting to the Logistics Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the logistics department, ensuring the efficient and effective management of transportation, warehousing, and distribution activities.

Job Description

Missions

  • Contribute to make LESAFFRE known as a Global Key Actor in Bread-making Solutions (Yeasts, Bread-Making Ingredients, Technical Support) in the Republic of South Africa
  • Oversee the smooth and efficient execution of logistics operations for Lesaffre South Africa, Aries Baking Supplies, and Bakelab
  • Ensure compliance with relevant South African laws, regulations, and industry standards related to logistics and transportation

Main responsibilities

Operations Management

  • Oversee the daily logistics operations, including transportation scheduling, and distribution processes
  • Coordinate the work of logistics personnel, such as Logistics Coordinators, and Drivers, to ensure tasks are completed efficiently
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to logistics operations, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to logistics and transportation

Transportation Coordination

  • Manage the scheduling and routing of transportation activities, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of products
  • Liaise with carriers, freight forwarders, and other logistics service providers to coordinate transportation activities
  • Monitor the performance of logistics service providers and address any issues or concerns
  • Optimize transportation routes and modes to improve efficiency and reduce costs

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of logistics operations
  • Analyze data and generate reports to support decision-making and strategic planning
  • Provide training and guidance to logistics personnel to enhance their skills and knowledge
  • Collaborate with the Logistics Manager and cross-functional teams to identify and address operational challenges
Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a logistics or supply chain role, preferably in a supervisory capacity
  • Strong understanding of logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution
  • Certification in logistics or supply chain management is preferred

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in using logistics management software, transportation management systems
  • Ability to analyze data, generate reports, and make data-driven decisions
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to logistics and transportation
