What You'll Do

  • Working with high-performing teams to analyze, evaluate and enhance our clients businesses, including processes, governance, data and technologies
  • Lead our clients and teams on their data journey which includes collaborating on their strategic vision for data, crafting a pragmatic roadmap of initiatives, and aiding our clients in the implementation of these initiatives, aligned to business objectives
  • Ability to drive data governance framework design and facilitate policies and procedures development in line to meet the strategic and regulatory objectives of our clients related to data governance, data management, data quality, data risk management, and data privacy and security
  • Collaborate seamlessly with key senior stakeholders, including business, IT teams and data owners to identify data needs
  • Conduct interviews with clients to perform current state/future state gap analysis and identify the root causes of client's challenges
  • Drive data culture and data adoption programs for clients who struggle with firmwide understanding of data ROI
  • Establish KPIs related to data quality and data risk, controls, and remediation plans
  • Develop roadmaps to developing data assets and data commercialization
  • Drive program/project management activities including status reporting or maintain RAID logs, and able to conduct scrum meetings for defect / development management
  • Support CrossCountry leadership team on internal projects, including but not limited to the following: sales/marketing initiatives, recruiting, and organizational development

What You'll Bring

  • 7+ years of relevant experience and track recording delivering transformation programs into CDO, CTO, COO, CFO, and/or CRO organizations
  • Strong strategic planning skills with past experience working with C-Suites executives to build out Organizational Level Strategic Roadmaps
  • Up-to-date on latest industry trends in industry trends and best practices in data strategy and governance
  • Knowledge of industries, including investment banking, broker-dealers, custody, fund administration and investment management
  • Proven leadership roles with strong communication and presentation skills
  • Professionalism and discretion in interacting with executives and clients

Governance, Compliance, Risk Management, Security, and Reporting

Implement data practices in the organization in line with changing regulatory policies and ensure compliance. Identify key risks and develop and implement effective mitigating plans and actions. Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., POPIA, HIPAA) and industry-specific requirements. Ensure that effective data recovery plans are in place to ensure business continuity in case of a disaster or potential threats. Provide the required documents to support effective auditing processes. Ensure adherence and compliance with the ATNS regulatory framework.

Stakeholder Relationship Management

Develop and manage strategic relationships with key IT product and service providers. Manage and provide regular reports on SLA compliance while identifying inefficiencies. Develop and maintain sound relationships with key stakeholders to support alignment and collaboration.

Financial Management

Provide input into the development of the departmental budget. Manage delegated expenditure in line with business objectives and priorities, and within approved financial parameters. Report expenditure including any possible deviations to the budget on a monthly basis. Ensure compliance with the PFMA and ATNS Finance policy and Delegation of Authority. Provide the required supporting documents to enable effective auditing processes.

People Management

Manage staff in accordance with HC policies, processes and practices. Ensure that new employees have been properly on-boarded prior to commencing work. Monitor the time and attendance of subordinates, and report absenteeism issues to management and Human Capital. Conclude clear performance management contracts with the team and ensure effective management thereof. Manage the performance of the team via the performance management system and take corrective action promptly and effectively. Continuously coach and mentor staff to ensure skilled and competent staff. Perform talent management in accordance to the HC Talent Management process. Drive employee engagement and retention.

Job Description

Implement data governance strategies, frameworks and roadmaps. Responsible for the execution of Data Governance related activities by monitoring the effectiveness of and adherence to governance processes that support the active management of identified information, data practices and data assets according to agreed standards and policies. To co-ordinate requests and execute requirements from regulatory and governance bodies pertaining to Data Services.

Data & Analytics

3-4 years

Experience with and understanding of risk management and terminology within related area of financial services, such as banking, investment asset management or insurance. Understanding of related products and services, and basic business processes.

Sound knowledge and understanding of policies (including but not limited to Protection of Personal Information Act (POPI), financial market acts, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Business Unit specific regulatory requirements/legislation. Knowledge of DAMA Framework for end-to-end Information Lifecycle. Knowledge of Internal Audit, Governance Frameworks, COBIT 5, King IV, Knowledge of Industry Frameworks: e.g. PCI-DSS.

5-7 years

Experience in data and information environment with knowledge of Data Management and sound understanding of capabilities of the landscape e.g. data modelling - how to translate data governance into a business value/understanding. Experience in providing information governance assurance to business stakeholders. Experience in data remediation practices. Exposure to various Business Support functions.
