What You'll Do
- Working with high-performing teams to analyze, evaluate and enhance our clients businesses, including processes, governance, data and technologies
- Lead our clients and teams on their data journey which includes collaborating on their strategic vision for data, crafting a pragmatic roadmap of initiatives, and aiding our clients in the implementation of these initiatives, aligned to business objectives
- Ability to drive data governance framework design and facilitate policies and procedures development in line to meet the strategic and regulatory objectives of our clients related to data governance, data management, data quality, data risk management, and data privacy and security
- Collaborate seamlessly with key senior stakeholders, including business, IT teams and data owners to identify data needs
- Conduct interviews with clients to perform current state/future state gap analysis and identify the root causes of client's challenges
- Drive data culture and data adoption programs for clients who struggle with firmwide understanding of data ROI
- Establish KPIs related to data quality and data risk, controls, and remediation plans
- Develop roadmaps to developing data assets and data commercialization
- Drive program/project management activities including status reporting or maintain RAID logs, and able to conduct scrum meetings for defect / development management
- Support CrossCountry leadership team on internal projects, including but not limited to the following: sales/marketing initiatives, recruiting, and organizational development

Ensure that effective data recovery plans are in place to ensure business continuity in case of a disaster or potential threats. Provide the required documents to support effective auditing processes. Ensure adherence and compliance with the ATNS regulatory framework.
Stakeholder Relationship ManagementDevelop and manage strategic relationships with key IT product and service providers. Manage and provide regular reports on SLA compliance while identifying inefficiencies. Develop and maintain sound relationships with key stakeholders to support alignment and collaboration.
Financial ManagementProvide input into the development of the departmental budget. Manage delegated expenditure in line with business objectives and priorities, and within approved financial parameters. Report expenditure including any possible deviations to the budget on a monthly basis. Ensure compliance with the PFMA and ATNS Finance policy and Delegation of Authority. Provide the required supporting documents to enable effective auditing processes.
People ManagementManage staff in accordance with HC policies, processes and practices. Ensure that new employees have been properly on-boarded prior to commencing work. Monitor the time and attendance of subordinates, and report absenteeism issues to management and Human Capital. Conclude clear performance management contracts with the team and ensure effective management thereof. Manage the performance of the team via the performance management system and take corrective action promptly and effectively. - Establish and lead a robust data governance and management framework across MTN MoMo's 16 operating markets. The role ensures that MTN's 65M+ monthly active customers and 15B+ annual transactions are supported by trusted, secure, and accessible data that drives customer engagement, regulatory compliance, and business growth
- Ensures data is treated as a strategic enterprise asset, embedding policies, controls, and cultural practices that improve data quality, consistency, privacy, and usability. By championing data literacy and governance, the Senior Manager strengthens data-driven decision-making and enables MTN Fintech to monetize its data responsibly while meeting regulatory requirements
The incumbent
must have
the following:
- Minimum of 4-year tertiary degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems or related field is required
- Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or equivalent
- Data governance certifications (e.g., DCAM)
- Cloud certifications (Azure Data Engineer, AWS Big Data Specialty)
- Project/Change Management (PMP, Agile, Lean Six Sigma)
- 8–12 years in data governance, data management, or enterprise data roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience implementing data governance frameworks in large, regulated environments (preferably fintech/financial services).

Senior Manager: Data Governance & Data Management
Fintech is entering a new phase where operational and commercial excellence has become critical for success. MTN is building a successful business and is looking to appoint an incumbent to lead data governance and data management across MTN MoMo’s 16 operating markets.
Responsibilities- Establish and lead a robust data governance and management framework across MTN MoMo’s 16 operating markets. The role ensures that MTN’s 65M+ monthly active customers and 15B+ annual transactions are supported by trusted, secure, and accessible data that drives customer engagement, regulatory compliance, and business growth
- Ensure data is treated as a strategic enterprise asset, embedding policies, controls, and cultural practices that improve data quality, consistency, privacy, and usability. By championing data literacy and governance, the Senior Manager strengthens data-driven decision-making and enables MTN Fintech to monetize its data responsibly while meeting regulatory requirements
- Minimum of 4-year tertiary degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems or related field is required
- Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or equivalent
- Data governance certifications (e.g., DCAM)
- Cloud certifications (Azure Data Engineer, AWS Big Data Specialty)
- 8–12 years in data governance, data management, or enterprise data roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Proven experience implementing data governance frameworks in large, regulated environments (preferably fintech/financial services)
