We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper to join our client’s team in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bookkeeping and accounting, with the ability to manage multiple sets of books and deliver accurate financial records in a deadline-driven environment.
Key Performance Areas:
- Full bookkeeping function to trial balance for multiple clients or entities.
- Preparation of monthly management accounts.
- Bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Submission of VAT201, EMP201, and EMP501 returns via SARS eFiling.
- Assist with payroll processing and related statutory compliance.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records.
- Liaise with clients, auditors, and SARS as needed.
- Support junior staff where required and contribute to process improvements.
Requirements:
- National Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or Finance.
- Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in a senior bookkeeping role.
- Strong working knowledge of South African VAT and payroll legislation.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage Pastel, QuickBooks).
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- High attention to detail, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
