Symmetry is a business in build mode, evolving, growing, and redefining what investment solutions should look like. The Data Analytics Lead will drive the delivery of actionable business insights across the organization by leading the design, development, and maintenance of dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions.
The role is central to enhancing data literacy, improving business decision-making and ensuring a seamless user experience across self-service reporting tools. You will play a critical role in translating complex business requirements into scalable reporting solutions and engaging closely with business stakeholders in a fast-moving, high-trust environment.
Key responsibilities will include amongst others the following:
Strategic Insight & Delivery
- Lead the design and delivery of Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions aligned to business needs.
- Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications for dashboards, KPIs, and visual analytics.
- Ensure consistent and governed rollout of self-service analytics tools across the organization.
- Drive user adoption and data literacy through training, documentation, and enablement sessions.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of data models and semantic layers within Power BI.
- Work closely with data engineering to design and maintain scalable and high-performing data warehouses or data marts.
- Ensure data lineage, definitions, and metadata are clearly defined and documented.
- Manage stakeholder engagement, focusing on improving the user experience in accessing and interacting with reporting tools.
- Implement standards and best practices for data visualization, dashboard usability, and layout consistency.
- Collaborate with governance and data quality teams to ensure data integrity and adherence to policies.
- Lead and manage the end-to-end delivery of analytics projects, including requirement gathering, development, testing, and deployment.
- Prioritize and manage incoming reporting and dashboard requests across business areas.
- Monitor the performance and impact of reporting outputs and iterate as necessary.

- 4–6 years of experience.
- Background or exposure to the investment management or financial services sector.
- Experience working with cloud data platforms.
- Exposure to Alteryx or similar tools for data preparation, blending, and automation.
- Working knowledge of Python for data transformation tasks.
- Familiarity with Agile or Scrum-based delivery frameworks.
- Proven expertise in data modelling and ETL processes, with a track record of designing and implementing scalable data pipelines and models to support business intelligence initiatives.
- Advanced proficiency in Power BI, SQL, and DAX, with the ability to lead the development of robust data models, insightful dashboards, and automated reports that drive strategic decision-making.
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently and take ownership of end-to-end analytics projects in fast-paced, evolving environments with minimal structure.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on uncovering actionable insights from complex data sets and aligning outputs to business outcomes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, capable of translating technical findings into clear, compelling narratives and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams across business and technical domains.

Our Stack
We don’t expect you to know everything but you should be comfortable with or excited to learn:
- SQL (PostgreSQL, BigQuery, or similar)
- Python for scripting and transformation
- Power BI for reporting and dashboarding (bonus if you know DAX or row-level security)
- Salesforce (CRM data integration and reporting)
- Heroku hosted Ruby on Rails app (you’ll be working with its data outputs)
- AWS for content and infrastructure (S3, databases, etc.)
- Bonus: experience with DBT, Airflow, or orchestration tools for pipeline management

- Proven track record of solving real business problems through data

Main purpose of positionWe are currently looking for a Data Analytics Engineer in Cape Town, South Africa, to join our global team working towards our vision – Improving our future .
As our Data Analytics Engineer, you will be responsible for driving the business to make data-driven decisions and enhancing self-service Business Intelligence within Scatec.
The role involves engaging with teams across departments such as Finance, Project Development, Asset Management, HR, Solutions, and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) to understand business processes and value drivers, and to specify data requirements. You will have exposure to various levels of the data landscape, owning the end-to-end data flow, including data architecture, governance, and systems, and communicating best practices across the organization.
Main responsibilities- Develop, own, and maintain a central data architecture and platform/service for relevant organizational data.
- Deliver valuable and high-quality data products to business units.
- Expand and centralize our common business data and data models.
- Ensure infrastructure and database optimization for improved delivery lead-time.
- Design and implement data governance processes.
- Build and maintain datasets for self-service reports across the organization.
- Maintain global standard reports and datasets.
- Train end-users in reporting and analysis tools.
- Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field from a technical university.
- 4-6 years of professional experience in the energy sector, client-facing roles preferred.
- Expertise in data engineering, building transformation pipelines using SQL and DBT.
- Strong knowledge of data modeling, warehousing, and governance concepts.
- Experience with Databricks, Azure.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code, DevOps, DataOps.
- Proficiency in data integration and visualization/reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and Excel.
- Familiarity with Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations is a plus.
- Knowledge of ML models and MLOps is advantageous.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken; additional languages are a plus.
