We are seeking a highly skilled and analytical Technical Data Analyst to join our data team. The ideal candidate will have experience with Tableau/Power BI/Other BI software, Microsoft SQL, and ERP systems, and will be adept at turning large data sets into meaningful insights, designing, and maintaining data systems and databases, and using a variety of tools and techniques to interpret results and drive decision-making.

Key Performance Outputs:

Database Management: Design, build, and maintain databases using Microsoft SQL, ensuring the accuracy and accessibility of data. Data Analysis and Reporting: Utilise Tableau/Power BI/Other BI software for advanced data visualization and reporting, analysing complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights. ERP System Management: Work with ERP systems to extract and analyse data, ensuring seamless integration with other data systems. Data Quality Assurance: Implement data quality checks and processes to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data across all platforms, including ERP systems. Collaboration: Work closely with IT, marketing, sales, product development, and other teams to support data-driven decision-making. Qualifications/Experience:

Role purpose:

  • We are looking for a proactive and business-oriented Reporting & Data Analyst to support the reporting needs of various departments across the organisation.

Key accountabilities

  • Requirement Gathering: Engage with business stakeholders to understand and document reporting needs.
  • Report Development : Create dashboards and reports directly using internal systems or coordinate with external system vendors to fulfil reporting needs.
  • Data Integration : Where reports require data from multiple sources (e.g., spreadsheets, system exports, APIs), consolidate and transform this data using Microsoft Excel, Power Query, or Power BI.
  • Insight Generation : Analyse data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement; translate findings into clear business insights.

• Conduct advanced research in water chemistry with a focus on agricultural and environmental applications.
• Develop and validate analytical methods for water quality assessment.
• Lead and contribute to national and international research projects.
• Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at scientific conferences.
• Supervise postgraduate students and mentor junior researchers.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, including government departments, industry partners, and academic institutions.
• Apply water quality expertise to irrigation systems, including the assessment of water suitability for agricultural use and the impact of irrigation practices on soil and crop health


• PhD in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Water Science, Water Resource Management or related field with a strong focus on water chemistry, biogeochemistry, freshwater and aquatic science.
• Proven experience in research, scientific inquiry and investigation, analysis and data management, modelling.
• Scientific publication and knowledge dissemination record.
• Experience in analytical instrumentation (e.g., ICP-MS, GC-MS, HPLC).
• Knowledge of water quality standards, regulations, and monitoring frameworks.
• Record of research collaboration and partnerships.
• Proven ability to function successfully in cross-cutting disciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
• Proven track record of mentoring, supervising and training students.
• Experience with field work and acquiring samples.
• Experience in irrigation-related research or water quality monitoring for agricultural applications.
• Valid code B & EB Driver’s licence and driving experience.
