Job Summary : We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Quality Control (QC) Inspector to join our client's team for a wind farm project in the Eastern Cape. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical systems, specifically turbines and transformers, with additional expertise in welding inspection.
Key Responsibilities :
- Conduct thorough inspections of wind turbine and transformer installations to ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
- Perform various types of welding inspections, including visual inspection (VT), ultrasonic testing (UT), and radiographic testing (RT).
- Adhere to and enforce safety standards and regulations during all inspections.
- Document and report findings, ensuring accurate and timely communication with project management and relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the construction and engineering teams to address and rectify any identified issues or defects.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and advancements in QC inspection techniques.
Requirements :
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality control, specifically with turbines and transformers.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and reporting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Must be a South African or a South African Permanent Residency holder.
Preferred Skills :
- Proficiency in using inspection tools and equipment.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations in the renewable energy sector.

The successful candidate will play a key role within the management team, overseeing wind turbine generator installation, monitoring, and evaluating project activities on-site on behalf of clients.
Key Responsibilities:- Participate actively in site meetings and conduct inspections of equipment and installations.
- Ensure compliance of equipment and installations with specifications, standards, and designs through thorough inspections.
- Contribute to progress reports concerning quality, time, and budget.
- Maintain quality control systems.
- Verify payment milestones.
- Review, verify, and comment on reports, drawings, etc.
- Review and monitor procedures for safe rigging, preservation, and storage of WTG components on site; report any non-conformance.
- Coordinate activities.
- Participate in commissioning and Factory Acceptance Tests.
- Mechanical or Electro-mechanical qualification.
- Experience as a millwright will also be considered.
- 8 to 10 years of experience in construction, with at least 5 years as a wind turbine technician/engineer for installation or servicing of wind turbines.
- Experience in an Owners Engineer role is advantageous.
- Knowledge of local and international standards, construction processes, best practices, and legislation.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel.
