We’re looking for a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join our expert team in delivering cutting-edge commercial refrigeration solutions across South Africa.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- An awareness of South African National Standards (SANS), ASHRAE etc. will be advantageous.
- Air/fluid/heat transfer/thermodynamics etc. tertiary education subject/elective will be advantageous.
- Must be familiar with the refrigeration cycle and primary equipment.
- An proficiency in VBA and Dynamo will be advantageous
- Assistance on design, based on client requirements and specifications.
- Interest in various engineering modeling software and BIM conversant is essential (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM360, etc.)
- Interest in all project stages from inception through to close-out and competent in constructing and compiling tender documentation and management of that process.
- Assisting with the compilation of Bills of Quantities (BOQ’s)
- Assisting engineers on equipment specifications understanding and approvals
- Assisting engineers on quality control (QA/QC)
- Site supervision and construction monitoring
- Trouble shooting on existing installations
- Assisting on cost control (related to mechanical installations only)

Qualifications And Experience Required
- BEng / BSc / BTech in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 70% overall GPA as of June 2025
- No experience required, any experience in Consulting Engineering will be advantageous.
- Must have interest in to become a Built Environment Professional (BEP).
- Individual currently in employ of a consulting entity will be advantageous but not required
- Code B drivers licence (preferably own car)
- Good attention to detail

- Adaptability – willing to learn and adapt new technologies and methodologies
- Computer literacy (programming skills will be advantageous)

Our Client has a requirement for a Mechanical Engineer/ Senior Mechanical Engineer, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Warrington.
Role Purpose:
Provide expert mechanical engineering support under a major nuclear decommissioning programme. This project combines the skills of the client and its partners to deliver a significant step change in project delivery.
- Receive Special Nuclear Material packages from existing storage locations.
- Retreat and/or repackage SNM into 100-year storage packages.
- Transfer these new packages to the Product & Residue Store for secure storage until 2120.
- Ensure SNM safety and security into the next century and beyond.
- The project is currently in the execution phase (procurement, design, manufacture, testing, installation, commissioning). The role supports design activities, completes outstanding design scope, and oversees formal design change implementation.
Reporting to the Group Lead or deputy, work as part of a design team delivering mechanical plant and equipment solutions and supporting auxiliary external equipment. Responsibilities include:
- Deliver engineering design deliverables (specifications, drawings, analyses, verifications, assessments) meeting legal, functional, and performance requirements on time, within cost and quality targets.
- Provide safe, fit-for-purpose, fully integrated, and operable design solutions aligned with product requirements.
- Facilitate design solutions that can be manufactured, constructed, commissioned, handed over, operated, maintained, and decommissioned.
- Proficient in Autodesk Inventor.
- Experience with Autodesk Vault Basic or Vault Pro (file management).
- Familiarity with GPS ISO (BS 888).
- Ability to support resolution of manufacturing, inspection, and test technical queries, production permits, and concessions (SME support available for materials, welding, NDT, and design for manufacture).
- Experience managing and directing designers in producing mechanical plant and equipment drawings/documents.
- Knowledge of plant layout, installation, alignment of plant/equipment/machinery for works tests, integrated tests, and site installation.
- Experience in writing and reviewing works test requirement documentation and integrated works test documents for plant and equipment.
- Coordination with CE&I engineers to address multi-disciplinary interactions.
- Ability to work in office-based or blended working arrangements (typically 3 days office/2 days WFH), with occasional supplier site visits.
- Familiarity with safety cases.
- Awareness of engineering standards and specifications.
- Experience in checking manufacturing drawings.
- Knowledge of information retrieval from document management systems.
- Experience in design and integration of machines per applicable safety management systems.
- Understanding of CDM, SoMSR, PUWER, and LOLER regulations.

- The candidate must ideally have experience with a wide range of mechanical equipment such as conveyors, crushers, screens, pumps, cranes and hoists, feeders, mills, scrubbers, compressed air systems, feeders and tanks
- Working experience in at least definitive or bankable feasibility studies is required with experience in project execution strongly recommended. Site based experience during construction and/or commissioning would be highly advantageous.
- Previous working experience on a mineral processing or petrochemical plant or in a similar industrial environment would be very advantageous.
