This includes showing expertise in managing course materials, assignments, and assessments within the LMS platform and providing technical support to students and colleagues. Additionally, demonstrate proficiency in customizing and optimizing the LMS interface to enhance user experience and engagement.

Effective communication skills (verbal and written), good facilitation, training and presentation skills.

Demonstrate the ability to generate third-stream income or successfully apply for grant funding.

REQUIREMENTS

A relevant PhD with Mathematics Education as the focus;

A strong background in Mathematics (Mathematics 3 or equivalent);

At least 10 years of teaching experience at an institution of higher education;

A teaching qualification;

Evidence of recent publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Evidence of postgraduate supervision at Honours, Masters and Doctoral level in Mathematics Education and other related fields;

Experience in teaching mathematics education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Experience and/or knowledge of technology-aided education;

National Research Foundation (NRF) C-rating would be an advantage.

Departmental and/or Faculty leadership and management experience.

ROLE SUMMARY:

To adopt a holistic view to students in your care, promoting the general progress and well-being of individuals and of any class or group assigned to you. To create a positive learning environment and motivate students to achieve their full potential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and present interesting and exciting lessons.
  • Establish a teaching environment that is nurturing, and promotes engaged learning.
  • Behave professionally concerning punctuality, behaviour, standards of work, and students' homework.
  • Evaluate, reflect on and refine teaching practice.
  • Offer academic support, on two afternoons per week and assist with two afternoons of extracurricular activities.
  • Produce resources of a high standard for students.
  • Show loyalty to all facets of Reddam House.
  • Attend all special occasions at the discretion of the relevant Head.
  • Set and mark exams and all other forms of student evaluation.
  • Write report comments.
  • The post holder is required to undertake any other reasonable tasks that the School Head/line manager determines.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Able to set clear expectations and stretch goals
  • Adaptable teaching style incorporating feedback
  • A depth of understanding in the relevant subject area
  • Assessment of student outcomes and feedback to enhance performance
  • Genuine care and attention for the highest standards of student welfar
  • Confidence with the use of IT in teaching
  • Previous experience with IEB Programme
  • A minimum of 4 years' experience will be advantageous
  • University qualification
  • Certified Teaching Status

Minimum Requirements

A relevant degree in Mathematics and current SACE registration

At least 5 years' experience teaching Mathematics from Grades 8-12

The ability to inspire, challenge, and support learners across the spectrum of ability

A commitment to integrating technology to enhance teaching and learning

A collaborative approach, contribution meaningfully to a team-oriented department

A proven interest in Mathematics Olympiads and the promotion of critical thinking

Familiarity with NSC or IEB marking will be advanteageous

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging effectively with students, parents, and colleagues

A willingness to contribute actively to the school's extensive extra-curricular programme.

Duties and Responsibilities

Teaching classes from Grade 8 - 12

Possibly providing remedial Maths where required

Setting of assessments

Invigilation where required

All other duties required of PL1 teacher
