  • Are you someone who can:

  • Support batch FTP and the creation of FTP encryption data by Development.
  • Analyze and change batch schedules on request.
  • Controls illegal Intrusions from non-permissible entities outside the corporate network.
  • Manage Group Corporate server infrastructure.
  • Advice on security prevention enhancements.
  • Takes care of the Backup Systems according to Baseline Standards in order to maintain Business Continuity. Controls Server and network hardware that may cause system down time.
  • Ensure first time resolution of customer queries or complaints and take ownership of any requirements and follow up on queries handed over to other parties or areas to ensure delivery on agreed timelines and Service Level Agreements.
  • Meet set turnaround times while ensuring own availability, reliability and accuracy.
  • Propose improvements on internal processes that impacts service levels and customer satisfaction within area of accountability.
  • Ensure own product knowledge and guidance provided is technically accurate and collects feedback to help improve customer service.
  • Establish relationships with relevant individuals and departments to deliver on work expectations.
  • Adhere to relevant service level agreements to build trust in the relationship.
  • Execute own work in accordance with the organisational values and code of ethics.

Role summary and requirements:

  • The ideal candidate must be a highly skilled Engineer who assists with the design, oversees the implementation and maintenance of our Virtual platform and drives the successful delivery of projects.
  • You will work closely with our technical support management teams across regions, engineering teams globally and local field team to ensure that the Virtualisation technologies are delivering overall superior service and support to our customers

You will be responsible for:

Virtualisation Infrastructure Design and Implementation:

  • Design, implement, and maintain Virtualisation infrastructure solutions that meet the business and technical requirements.
  • Ensure scalability, reliability, and performance of the Virtualisation environment.
  • Maintain an accurate and current hardware and infrastructure software inventory.
  • Be the team's voice on project expectations for the platform on new or in-flight projects.
  • Generate internal knowledge base articles and issue resolution where possible.
  • Lead and/or being involved in Global Strategic Initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with audit requirements
  • Manage own development to increase own competencies

Troubleshooting and Support:

  • Be experienced in troubleshooting issue with VMware and other Virtualisation technology solutions, including Virtualisation Provisioning Services, Virtualisation Environment Management, Virtualisation Policies, Multi-site aggregations, vSphere.
  • Ensure all areas of the Virtualisation infrastructure are monitored managed and reported on accordingly.
  • Optimisation of functional areas, e.g., Server Deployments, and User experience.
  • Proactively monitor environment for capacity, stress, risk and workload to take necessary remediation steps.
  • Work with Virtualisation team to implement formal feedback mechanisms for incidents, causes, and resolutions.
  • Lead the resolution of complex technical issues related to Virtualisation infrastructure.
  • Provide escalated support for critical incidents and outages.
  • Implement proactive measures to prevent recurring issues.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of Virtualisation architecture, configurations, and processes.
  • Generate regular reports on system performance, capacity, and utilization.
  • Participate in documenting, communicating, and enforcing policies for securing and standardizing systems, infrastructure and software as necessary.

We will be a match if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining virtualisation solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of Virtualisation technologies, such as VMware.
  • Familiarity with networking, storage, and security concepts related to virtualisation solutions.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Strong skills in automation using PowerShell.
  • Background in the development and management of remote support groups, international support groups and 24 x 7 support operations.
  • Extensive expertise in developing metrics to measure the effectiveness of technical support within the organization.
  • Familiarity with systems operations and management environments within large enterprise customers and/or service providers is desirable.
  • Good communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Track record of accomplishment and effectiveness within organizations.

Role Description:

The candidate would be responsible for installing, updating, and configuring these systems; taking proactive steps to monitor and identify any potential issues, and implement preventative measures; ensure system back-ups are taking place as required, and handle any down time effectively.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, hands-on experience, and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a dynamic business environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer, monitor, and maintain all company network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, VPN, wireless, and firewalls).
  • Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers (Windows, Linux, etc.), ensuring optimal performance and availability.
  • Manage and maintain telephony infrastructure and systems and the optimisation of thereof.
  • Monitor systems for performance, reliability, and security, responding to alerts and resolving issues proactively.
  • Manage and report on root cause analysis for faults with remedial action.
  • Troubleshooting and monitoring network related performance focusing on the remote and on-site deployment.
  • Setup monitoring software for performance on servers to do preventative maintenance.
  • Assist support team on complex technical issues.
  • Work together with the department manager to define policies and procedures relating to network performance and security.
  • Secure server environments by creating documented polices with procedures, implementation, and the monitoring thereof.
  • Ensure network protocols are documented refining security between network devices.
  • Oversee patch management policy.
  • Budget control and administration of software licensing.
  • Maintain vendor and supplier relations.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices to recommend improvements and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience with infrastructure maintenance.
  • Understanding of SQL backups
  • Microsoft Azure experience
  • Advantageous:

o BSC in Computer Science or a related field

o Microsoft certifications

o Security certifications

o Expertise or experience with ManageEngine range of products.

  • Proven expertise in network administration (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewalls, wireless).
  • Strong knowledge of server technologies (Windows Server, Linux/Unix, Active Directory, virtualisation platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V).

The Purpose of the Role

The individual in the role is required to provide technical support for the day-to-day operations of the organisation's Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Broadcast environment through the provision of technical support and advice to users across multiple locations, platforms, and technologies.

Supporting and assisting in all business applications deployed within the eMedia business, which include but is not limited to:

  • Broadcast system support.

  • Virtual Environment: VMWare.

  • Microsoft: SCCM, Exchange, Active Directory, Windows Server. 2019 – 2021, Windows 10-11.

  • Additional: Sage 300 People (Payroll, ESS, HR).

  • Database: SQL, Oracle.

  • Storage: NetApp, Compellent.

  • Desktop Environment: Windows, Linux, Office 365.

Installing new and/ or rebuilding existing computers, servers and configuring hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.

Managing assets and configuring systems.

Contributing to and maintaining system standards.

Operations Coordination

Remediating any problem escalated efficiently and timeously.

Performing daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups, when and if required.

Performing regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.

Performing daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.

Performing regular file archival and purging, as necessary.

Creating, changing, and deleting user accounts per request.

Providing support per request from various constituencies.

Investigating and troubleshooting issues.

Repairing and recovering from hardware or software failures.

Coordinating and communicating with impacted constituencies.

Complying with approved asset procedure

Provision of 1st level operational support on to all Business applications.

Providing 1st level support on other new applications.
