**Job Description**
The Professional Quantity Surveyor is required to be facilitate over the programme development cycle (engineering, procurement and construction) and provides quantity surveying duties pre- and/or post-contract while working as part of the project team. Performs specific and limited portions of a broader project as an experienced quantity surveyor. Guides Candidate Quantity Surveyors on works and detailed routine.
**Technical Excellence:**
+ Undertakes responsibilities independently and/or under very general supervision, where work is reviewed for soundness of judgement and accuracy
+ Provides expertise and supervision utilizing more than one competence on projects of varying scope and complexity
+ Provides expertise and supervision with completing the measurement of quantities for input into cost plans, cost estimates and bills of quantities
+ Provides expertise and supervision with the preparation of tender documentation
+ Provides expertise and supervision with viability studies and cost estimates
+ Provides expertise and supervision with implementing, maintaining and monitoring cost control procedures throughout the duration of a project
+ Provides expertise and supervision with providing necessary input related to financial claims
+ Provides expertise and supervision with evaluating variations, additions, and omissions, etc, and incorporating these into monthly cost reports
+ Provides expertise and supervision with preparing, pricing and negotiating change orders with clients and contractors
+ Complies with all QA requirements

**Qualifications**
+ BSc Quantity Surveying
+ Over 5 years of experience in the built environment in a QS function
+ Must be registered as a Pr.QS with SACQSP
+ Under limited supervision, normally receives little instruction on routine work, general instructions on new assignments.
+ Conducts surveys to ascertain the locations of natural features and human-made structures on the earth's surface, underground, and underwater, using electronic distance-measuring equipment and other surveying instruments.
+ Operates and manages land-information computer systems, performs tasks such as storing data, making inquiries, and producing plots and reports.
+ Reviews information from survey teams regarding measurement of distances, directions, angles between points and elevation of points, lines, and contours on, above, and below the earth's surface.
+ Research legal records, looks for evidence of previous boundaries, and analyses the data to determine the location of boundary lines.
+ Records the results of surveys, verifies the accuracy of data, and prepares plots, maps, and reports.
+ An experienced professional with full understanding of area of specialization.
+ Works on problems of diverse scope.

A Bit About The Team And What You'll Deliver.

The Program Management & Operations (PMO) Team is responsible for planning and delivering several product lines and Professional Services projects for various customers. Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in computer science, business or project management
  • Master’s degree in software engineering / project management, or equivalent experience preferred

Job Duties

Project Leadership & Delivery

Education

Required Qualifications:

Experience

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in IT project management
  • Proven experience managing enterprise-level IT projects such as ERP implementations, cloud migrations, cybersecurity initiatives, or application development.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), and emerging technologies (e.g., cloud computing, AI, automation).

The project:

You'll need to have:
  • Demonstrates independent engineering judgment and initiative across diverse project types.
  • Experienced in civil infrastructure and smart utilities, particularly in the successful delivery phase of projects.
  • Possesses property and infrastructure project management expertise, with a strong track record.
  • Holds or is eligible for professional memberships such as ECSA, SACPCMP, PMP, or equivalent.
  • Open to career progression into project/package management roles through cross-functional development.

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Program Manager / Engineering Manager to lead our technical and project division. Reporting directly to the Directors, this role plays a strategic part in driving operational excellence across engineering, drafting, project delivery, and technical sales.

The successful candidate will lead a high-performing team of 15+ professionals and have full oversight of the design and execution of structural systems used in our solar and renewable energy solutions.   • Head up and coordinate the following departments:
    • Project Management and Field Operations

  • Lead and develop project management and contract management teams
  • Provide senior engineering expertise across structural systems, fabrication, installation, and design

  • Drive interdepartmental alignment and ensure technical teams support broader commercial goals

Requirements

Requirements

  • BSc or BEng in Structural, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in engineering and construction, with at least 10 years in leadership roles
  • Strong background in steel structures, large-scale infrastructure, or solar mounting systems
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and integrate diverse technical functions
  • Deep understanding of structural design, contract management, fabrication, and construction
  • Highly experienced in project oversight, risk identification, quality assurance, and problem-solving
  • PR.Eng registration is advantageous but not essential
  • Experience in the renewable energy or solar sector preferred
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills
