Key Responsibilities :
Project Planning & Execution
- Develop and manage detailed project plans, budgets, and timelines
- Oversee execution of data center builds, upgrades, and migrations
- Ensure alignment with business goals, IT strategy, and compliance standards
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks to ensure smooth project delivery
- Monitor progress and address potential delays with proactive solutions
- Lead communication with internal teams and external vendors
- Manage SLAs, vendor contracts, and procurement activities
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure adherence to industry best practices and regulatory standards
- Maintain project documentation, quality assurance, and performance reports
Requirements :
Qualifications & Experience :
- Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Project Management, or related field
- 5+ years' experience managing complex data center projects
- Deep understanding of power, cooling, networking, and security infrastructure
Preferred Certifications :
- CDCP, CDCS, PMP, ITIL
- Experience in cloud / hybrid infrastructure and automation tool
- May involve working in a 24 / 7 operational environment

The Opportunity
Our South Africa team is seeking a strategic, experienced OE & PMC Lead to join our dynamic team working on innovative and exciting energy infrastructure projects in Africa. This is a rare opportunity to build and lead a team in a high-priority growth area for Arup, with strong backing from global and regional leadership.
This position is based in Johannesburg or Cape Town.
You will have deep experience in one or more technical areas – such as leading multi-disciplinary teams in winning and delivery of energy projects – and a proven track record of cultivating long-term client relationships, securing impactful work, positioning an energy business for strategic growth and delivering projects successfully. Build and maintain client relationships with IPPs, Mining Companies, public agencies, and contractors.

Is this role right for you?
We are looking for people with the following skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering. Professionally registered with ECSA (Pr.Eng).
- Project management qualification or registration preferred.
- Proven years of experience in large scale energy infrastructure, with significant experience in Owner’s Engineer, Design (utility scale renewable energy plants or transmission (>132kV) and PMC roles).
- Proven track record in leading large-scale energy projects (e.g., renewables, transmission, hybrid systems). Strong understanding of Africa’s energy sector, regulatory environment and delivery models.
- Have built and maintained strong relationships in Energy industry.
- Excellent technical leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

We are seeking South AfricanSenior Project Managers with deep expertise in managing utility-scale Solar PV projects under EPC or IPP frameworks . This is a 12 to 24month contract assignment and potential opportunities after the project – offering the opportunity to drive the execution of major renewable energy infrastructure projects in South Africa.
You will be responsible for overseeing all phases of project delivery, from mobilisation and construction to final commissioning, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
Full ownership of EPC / IPP solar PV project execution from site mobilisation to grid connection
Manage and coordinate engineering, procurement, and construction activities
Lead cross-functional teams including contractors, consultants, engineers, and HSE
Monitor project schedules, budgets, risk registers, and quality metrics
Conduct regular site visits and oversee construction progress
Engage with stakeholders, landowners, utilities (e.g. Eskom), and regulatory bodies
Ensure project compliance with national standards, grid code, and permitting requirements
Report progress and risks to senior management and investors
Drive resolution of technical and operational challenges
Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil) or Project Management
Minimum 10 years’ project management experience , with at least 5 years in utility-scale PV
Proven track record in EPC or IPP project environments in South Africa

- Ensure compliance with all safety, regulatory, and industry standards across the data center operations.

Job Overview :
We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Operations Manager with a strong background in IT infrastructure, hardware, and project management, ideally gained within the Banking, Investment Banking, or Financial Services sectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day IT operations, managing infrastructure projects, and ensuring the availability, performance, and security of the organization's IT systems. This role requires a strategic leader who can align technology operations with business objectives while delivering high-quality IT services to support critical business functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the IT operations team, ensuring the optimal performance of all IT infrastructure, hardware, and systems.
- Lead IT infrastructure projects, including hardware upgrades, server installations, network improvements, and disaster recovery planning.
- Collaborate with senior management to define IT strategies that align with business goals and ensure the effective delivery of IT services across the organization.
- Manage system availability, security, and performance, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and best practices.
- Develop and implement IT policies, procedures, and SLAs to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
- Monitor and manage infrastructure-related incidents, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on business operations.
- Oversee budgeting and resource allocation for IT infrastructure projects, ensuring cost efficiency and on-time delivery.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives for IT operations processes, identifying and mitigating risks, optimizing system performance, and enhancing scalability.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal security standards, particularly in the Banking and Financial Services sectors.
- Collaborate with vendors and external partners to procure and maintain IT infrastructure, hardware, and services.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 7+ years of experience in IT operations management, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role within the Banking, Investment Banking, or Financial Services sectors.
- Proven experience in managing IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, data centers, and hardware systems.
- Strong project management experience, with a track record of successfully delivering IT infrastructure projects on time and within budget.
- Expertise in IT service management (ITSM) and ITIL frameworks.
- Experience in managing IT budgets, vendor relationships, and procurement processes.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and experience implementing security protocols in IT infrastructure.
- Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Reporting to the Senior Manager IT Projects, with support functions to CEO, CTO and other departments of Toyota Connected Africa (TCA), the incumbent will be responsible for the delivery of technology advancements projects, where we focus on the “Connected Car” and cutting-edge enhancements in enterprise software solutions. They will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (throughout the entire TCA and Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) businesses) and the dealer network. The candidate must possess very strong technology, delivery and relationship-building skills. This position forms part of the Toyota Connected Africa technical team and is based in Johannesburg.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Support the management of activities relating to software development teams.
- Ensure that the correct support is available for the gathering of user requirements for project delivery.
- Sets attainable goals for project delivery and ensure that these goals are communicated to the stakeholder community. Similarly, the progress towards completion of project activities should be tracked and reported on the same community.
- Provide guidance to team members to encourage work productivity.
- Ensure that the project timeline is followed by the software development team and assist with issue and risk mitigation activities that threaten the development progress.
- Manage multiple projects at once.
- Represents the company and project in software department, executive and stakeholder meetings, and assume responsibility for reporting on progress and project statuses in appropriate meetings.
- Ensure that the appropriate procedures, methodology and processes are followed when it comes to software development
- Ensure that the documentation of design plans (Architectural and UX) is performed.
- Ensure that the software requirements are appropriately documented, stored, tracked and measured.
- Ensure that the appropriate testing approach and methodology is implemented, documented and tracked.
- Monitor and report on the status of the software development progress in line with the methodology implemented and stakeholder requirements.
- Participate in other areas of the software development lifecycle as the project demands.
- Provide key project support to the TSAM Future Toyota department relating to the G-DCM project (Connected service).
- Build relationships and establish strong communication channels with both local partners and Toyota Connected companies relating to the G-DCM project and other MaaS project.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- A bachelor’s degree in information technology and/or a qualification in the Project Management field (Agile or SDLC) would be highly advantageous.
- 5+ years of experience in the delivery of scalable enterprise software within the IT space.
- 2+ years of managing teams within a development organization
- Exposure and practical experience with:
- Project management
- Data Management and Data Analysis
- User Interfaces
- Integration Methodologies and Frameworks
- Exposure to delivering IT projects with programming languages such as
- HTML
- SQL
- .NET
- PHP
- ASP
