This role demands strong stakeholder engagement and strict adherence to SHE compliance standards. Candidates must hold a relevant degree or diploma, along with a Comrec Certificate; an Advanced Rock Engineering Certificate will be advantageous. A minimum of 5 years experience in the role, including 2 years in management, is required. The successful candidate will serve as a legal appointee in accordance with the Mineral Act regulations. Lead with expertise and ensure geological integrity underground.

Job Description
The Geology Technician reports deviations from standard (geology or best cut related). Identifies unsafe working conditions and responds to abnormal environmental conditions.
Roles And Responsibilities Include The Below
- Gathering/Mapping of Geological and Stope Width (SW) and Grade Control information from the working production place as and when required by senior geological staff
- Recording the SW information and basic mapping of geological features where applicable
- Takes photographs via the use of digital cameras
- Inputs all information ideally directly into relevant systems (Microstation-CadsMine and MRM)
- Gather all relevant information with respect to geology and resource management (white areas, sweepings, FOG etc)
- Cover hole drill core logging and plotting of the information on the 1:200 plans and the electronic plans
- Report Writing to production staff (scrutiny by qualified geologist)
- Check all safety measures and devices
- Identity and demarcate hazards
- Maintains proper levels of all geological equipment
- Requests for materials and equipment, i.e. coloured tapes, wooden stakes, masonite board, paint, mapping book and clutch pencils as required on time
- Ensures that required equipment are kept clean and available
- Ensures work areas are clean, tidy and safe
This role is at a C1 level and will be reporting to the Shaft Geologist
Qualifications
- Grade 12 with Maths and Science
Experience
- Two years' Technical Assistant exposure in an underground operation
Knowledge And Skills
- Competent in relevant standards and procedures/modules
- Basic computer literacy (Excel, Word, AutoCAD and Dispatch)
- Valid Code 08 driver's licence

The Senior Specialist Resource Geologist will be responsible for overseeing mineral resource estimation, modelling, and reporting, ensuring compliance with industry standards such as ISO 17025 and SOX. This role involves people management practices, driving quality assurance and control processes, optimising Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves, and managing risks to meet business requirements and stakeholder expectations.
Minimum Requirements:
BSc Honours in Geology or related postgraduate qualification in the Mineral Resource Management discipline
Registered with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP)
At least 5 years' geological modelling and mineral resource estimation experience in Geology / Mineral Resource Management
Extensive knowledge in database management and grade estimation techniques and be proficient in the use of geological modelling and geostatistical software such as Leapfrog, Datamine and Supervisor
Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant's suitability for employment
Key Competencies:

Actively engage in and demonstrate Visible Felt Leadership aligned to operational SHE standards, operational campaigns and instructions

Ensure quality assurance and quality control (QAQC), integrity and compliance with ISO 17025 during the sample collection, preparation, processing, and analysis phases through audits, stakeholder engagement, continuous improvement initiatives, and effective database management systems and processes
Providing expert technical, QAQC, modelling, and evaluation services to optimise the operation's Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves
Responsible for the mineral resource estimation and reporting of resource models
Ensuring SOX compliance, and compliance to audits by the Corporate Technical Services and external auditors
Co-ordinate projects and implementing integrated processes and systems across the section to meet business requirements and stakeholder expectations
Managing the Mineral Resource risks to acceptable levels
Review standards and implement best practice for sampling, mineral resource estimation, modelling and reporting
