Applications are invited for the Technical Assistant position to be based in Queenstwon.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

The Technical Assistant’s main duty will be assisting with installations, troubleshooting, and maintaining all fibre optic and wireless systems.

Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:

  • Site Survey:
    • Assist with signal’s scan and throughput tests to High site.
    • Assist with taking photos of location for CPE bracket, cable run, plug, PoE and router locations.
  • Callout Repairs:
    • Tidy and clean up after job completion.
    • Assist with site inspection for possible future problems, i.e. trees in the way.
    • Take photos.
  • Installation:
    • Mount brackets, cable hooks as required and indicated by Senior Technician.
    • Install cable runs as indicated by Senior Technician.
    • Tidy and clean up after job completion.
  • CPE Recovery:
    • Remove relevant equipment and clean-up.
  • Vehicle:
    • Ensure all tools and equipment are neatly organized inside the vehicle.
    • Ensure daily stock is loaded.
    • Ensure backup stock levels are maintained in the vehicle.
    • Ensure that the vehicle is stocked with all necessary consumables needed.

The successful candidate must have the following experience/skills:

  • Good working knowledge of hand and power tools used in this position.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Self-disciplined, motivated, and organized.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Must be presentable, reliable, and punctual.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Must be medically fit and follow all Health and Safety procedures.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions, confined spaces, isolation.
  • Must be able and willing to work at heights and under pressure.
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team.
  • Willingness to work overtime.
  • Previous experience in a similar work environment is advantageous.

    Introduction

    The Incumbent will provide administrative and technical support to the Medical Director which includes:

    1. Business and technical research,
    2. Analysis of functional and organizational data,
    3. Collaboration with internal and external teams to manage and track projects,

    5. Coordinate various activities that ensure the smooth running of the Medical Director’s activities team and division.
    KPA 1: Coordinate and manage the Medical Director office and related business KPI
    1. Determine annual schedule and workplans of the various divisional meetings and agree these with the Medical Director and relevant stakeholders.
    2. Coordinate meetings including all logistical arrangements; collation of reports and obtaining necessary information to compile agendas and ensure timely distribution.
    3. Manage meeting minutes and action items by compiling accurate, proofread minutes not later than 10 working days after each meeting adhering to Quality standards with regards to format, layout, record keeping and timely distribution.

    3. Ensure security and confidentiality of all documents and filing procedures.

    5. Coordinate the Blood Safety Committee, HREC and related committees to ensure timely planning of events and delivery of the SANBS mandate and strategy.
    6. Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure delivery of relevant governance, risk and compliance requirements, such as but not limited to, Clinical Governance Medical Director and Quality/IPC reports and Medico-Legal reports.
    7. Oversee and ensure the management of all relevant Quality documents as per SANBS policies and procedures.
    8. Identify and monitor risks through interaction (direct and indirect) with internal and external stakeholders and implement plans to mitigate and reduce risks with guidance and assistance from the Medical Director.
    9. Identify quality failures and actively assist internal and external stakeholders with quality improvement initiatives with assistance and guidance of the Medical Director.
    10. Timeously attend to any quality notifications as required.
    11. Identify and highlight any potential medico-legal risks.
    KPA 3: Improving internal processes KPI
    1. Coordinate internal and where applicable external stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective execution of activities within the Medical Division.
    2. Develop and ensure adequate, effective monitoring systems to drive the efficient and effective execution of activities within the Medical Division.
    3. Monitor and analyse data and trends as required and agreed to with the Medical Director.
    4. Assist with projects by performing administrative related duties, ensuring the timeous reimbursement of vendors, checking and processing invoices as well as monitoring expenditure and reporting all relevant information to the Medical Director as may be required.
    5. Provide general administrative support to senior medical employees by performing miscellaneous and routine tasks and other job-related duties when required so as to facilitate efficient running of the division.

    1. Collaborate with other divisions in SANBS as required to synergise integrated outcomes in all matters related to the office of the Medical Director.

    • Install cable runs as indicated by Senior Technician.
    • Tidy and clean up after job completion.

    CPE Recovery :

    • Remove relevant equipment and clean up.

    Vehicle :

    • Ensure all tools and equipment are neatly organized inside the vehicle.
    • Ensure daily stock is loaded.
    • Ensure backup stock levels are maintained in the vehicle.
    • Ensure that the vehicle is stocked with all necessary consumables needed.

    The successful candidate must have the following experience / skills :

    • A valid driver's license is essential.
    • Good working knowledge of hand and power tools used in this position.
    • Must have basic computer skills.
    • Self-disciplined, motivated and organized.
    • Must be a team player.
    • Must be presentable, reliable and punctual.
    • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
    • Must be medically fit and follow all Health and Safety procedures.
    • Ability to work in all weather conditions, confined spaces, isolation.
    • Must be able and willing to work at heights and under pressure.
    • Must be able to work independently and also in a team.
    • Willingness to work overtime.
    • Previous experience in a similar work environment is advantageous.
    • Have a good understanding of the equipment used for installations.
    • Able to follow and prioritize tasks according to instructions given by Install team.
    • Must show pride in work ethic and company property.
    • Efficient time management.

    Education Requirements :

    • Grade 12.
    • Any specialized certifications or training would be an added advantage.
