Applications are invited for the Network Systems Engineer position based in Plattekloof, Cape Town.
This person will report to the Network Manager .
Purpose of the Role:As the Network Systems Engineer at Herotel, you will be responsible for the implementation, support, and maintenance of all network systems. You will also be responsible for provisioning new systems to meet the network team's business goals.
Key Performance Areas:- Setting up and managing all network-related systems required to meet organizational objectives, including installation, configuration, support, and maintenance.
- Providing network automation tools to scale network operations.
- Maintaining accurate documentation and diagrams of network systems and integrations.
- Collaborating with technology, operations, and business systems teams for compatibility, integration, and scaling.
- Adopting network systems and automation tools.
- Reviewing existing systems' output and performance for improvements and scaling.
- Building systems based on design and framework plans, measuring against goals.
- Identifying and building network systems that enhance service provisioning and automation, reducing total cost of ownership.
- Working with network architects, engineering, monitoring, and transmission teams to ensure proper strategies.
- Collaborating with end-users to identify and implement improvements.
- Managing suppliers and vendors to meet network-related needs.
- Troubleshooting and resolving network systems, hardware, and software issues efficiently.
Testing and evaluating new systems and self-builds in a lab environment to keep the technology stack current.
Experience and Skills:- Minimum 3 years' experience in deploying and managing IT or network management systems.
- Experience with network systems like ACS platforms, Zabbix, Greylog, TheDude, Ansible, Splunk, AWS, Proxmox, Grafana is advantageous.
- Advanced Linux OS and server environment skills.
- Database design and high availability implementation skills.
- Deep understanding of networking and design principles.
- Ability to work independently and in teams.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
- Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, MCSE, RHCE are highly desirable.
- Qualifications in networks, systems, or security are advantageous.
