ABOUT WESSELS:
The South Africa Manganese operation can be found in the manganese rich Kalahari Basin, in the country's Northern Cape, which is home to 80 per cent of the world's manganese. This position is based at our Wessels Mine which represents one of the largest manganese reserves in South Africa.

ABOUT THE ROLE:
This role is a permanent full-time position.
As a Supervisor Maintenance, you will be responsible for the execution of work, inspections, and observations in a safe and sustainable manner by coordinating all the installation, maintenance, and repair work on the Surface Ore Processing Plant;
Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:
Safe delivery of maintenance activities;
Leading of a team of artisans to ensure the effective execution of breakdown, unplanned and planned maintenance work
Ensuring maximum equipment availability, reliability, and operational stability.
Control and account for maintenance expenditure.
Ensuring that correct failure data information emanating from the breakdown is routed to the Maintenance Analysis & Assurance engineers to enable them to perform quality root cause analysis to eliminate interruptions / breakdowns of equipment.
Coordinate with planning section to set/review required maintenance/repair plans, schedules, and strategies
Continuously monitor crew activities to ensure safe, efficient operations and make recommendations for revised procedures when problems are encountered
Ensure all task or activities are executed and aligned with Standard Operating Procedures and Safe Work Instruction
ABOUT YOU:
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
Must have maximum of 5 years' experience in maintenance, of which at least 2 years of supervisory experience for external candidates;
Have sound knowledge of crushing & screening plants & load-out stations;
Experience on Metso Cone Crushers and hydraulic systems is advantageous
Experience on CAT R1600 or CAT R1700 or CAT AD30 maintenance is advantageous
Experience on maintenance on Atlas Copco 282 Rocket Boomers, 235H Bolters, Epiroc S2 Boomers & Aard UV's is advantageous;
SAP experience will be advantageous;
Qualifications for this role are:
Grade 12 Technical or N3 certificate;
Have a recognized Trade Test Certificate;
Valid drivers license is essential;

Act as a link between management and the staff members on site. Ensure a productive workflow by establishing work planning and monitoring staff performance.
Responsibilities
Staff supervision
- Advise Site Manager / Contract Manager on staffing needs and replacements
- Set out daily tasks for staff
- Recommend shifts and revise schedules if needed
- Conduct weekly meetings with staff to get weekly feedback
- Responsible for maintaining good housekeeping standards inside and outside the waste area
- Report all incidents, spills and near misses
- Ensure that spills are cleaned up
- Ensure that the staff wear the correct PPE
- Daily attendance register report
- Daily shift report
- Provide a report on all baled material within the different waste streams daily
- Monthly production (bale count) report
- Monthly production report for Sorters
- Ensure that all staff work as productively as possible
- Book daily collections on the collections app
- Implement and supervise the workflow, reporting procedures and systems
- Identify cost reductions to increase productivity
- Coordinating and enforcing systems, policies and procedures
- Ensure a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment and resources
- Ensure that no load is loaded without the PO number provided by the Site Manager / Contract Manager
- Monitor and supervise all processes regarding the collection or delivering of material, such as number of bales and value of load
- Monitor the average weight of all baled material
- Monitor the weights of the cages collected from sites on a daily basis
- Report any challenges with collections to the Site Manager / Contract Manager
- Report breakdowns to the Site Manager / Contract Manager
- Follow up on repairs to be done on the equipment
- Ensure that everyone stop using the baler if a technical issue arises
- No tools or foreign objects must be placed close to the conveyer
- Ensure that the shift does not start bailing until the baler and conveyer are cleaned according to the checklist
- Grade 12
- Minimum of 1-year supervisory experience is required
- Valid drivers license
- Excellent knowledge of different waste material streams
- Clear criminal record
