MECHANICAL FITTER – SA STEELWORKS

AIRPORT INDUSTRIA – CAPE TOWN

SA Steelworks has a position for a qualified, committed, hardworking and motivated Mechanical Fitter in the Fitters Department at our SA Steelworks Division in Cape Town. The successful applicant will report to the Fitters Supervisor.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Implementing Company maintenance procedures, including:
  • Conducting inspections on all plant machinery
  • Conducting routine planned and preventative maintenance
  • Working through a computerised maintenance management system
  • Attending to breakdowns when required
  • Setup and adjustment of machinery/equipment
  • General housekeeping
  • Adhering to Occupational Health and Safety Act
• Fit and assemble metal parts, tools or sub-assemblies, including welding or brazing parts
• Set up and/or operate hand and machine tools and welding equipment
• Examine detailed drawings or specifications to advice with regard to job, material and equipment requirements
• Check accuracy and quality of finished parts, tools or sub-assemblies.
• Provide coaching to semi-skilled staff

Job Picture

The succesful candidate will be a Fitter or Fitter and Turner with a minimum of 5 years post Trade Test maintenance experience in the manufacturing environment. Your CV and interview responses will show your discipline and dediction for maintaining plant to the specifications of the design of the machinery. You will have a track record of working independently with self-discipline and self-awareness. You will be able to describe where you have made mistakes and the learnings from these mistakes.

Qualifications and Experience

• 5 years Post Trade Test Experience
• 5 years Hydraulic experience.
• Preferably N6 or higher Mechanical Engineering diploma.
