DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• A Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the groups logistics and supply chain operations. The role involves planning and implementing efficient strategies for the movement of goods, inventory control, and coordination of transportation and distribution. The role will focus on cost effectiveness solutions, timely delivery, and adherence to quality and safety standards
• Develop and implement comprehensive logistics strategies that align with the organization's goals, ensuring efficient product movement and distribution
• Oversee the supply chain process, from inventory management to order Fulfilment

• Implement inventory control measures, including stock tracking, demand forecasting, and cycle counts to optimize stock levels

• Plan and coordinate transportation activities, including route optimization, carrier selection, and the negotiation of favourable shipping terms

• Enforce quality control standards to maintain product quality throughout the supply chain and distribution processes
• Monitor and manage logistics costs, including transportation, storage, and inventory expenses, while identifying cost-saving opportunities
• Leverage logistics software, such as Transportation Management Systems (TMS), to optimize operations and enhance visibility
• Develop contingency plans and respond to unforeseen logistical challenges or disruptions to minimize operational downtime
• Lead, mentor, and manage logistics staff, including task delegation, performance evaluations, and skills development.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent (a degree in supply chain management or logistics is a plus)
• Proven experience in supply chain management
• Proven experience as a Logistics manager
• Strong leadership and team management skills

• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to logistics, transportation, and inventory management.
• Identify and mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions.
• Lead a team of logistics professionals to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
• Provide training, coaching, and mentorship to team members to enhance their skills and performance.
• Collect and analyze data related to logistics performance, costs, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Prepare regular reports and presentations for management to communicate insights, trends, and recommendations.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes and enhance efficiency within the logistics function.
• Explore and implement innovative technologies and best practices to optimize logistics operations.
• Collaborate with internal departments to ensure customer satisfaction through timely and accurate order fulfillment.

• Registration with a recognised HR professional body e.g., SABPP or equivalent (Desirable)

• A valid driver’s licence

• 5 years generalist HR experience
• +3 years senior HR management experience in a large, multi‑site organisation.
• 3 years’ experience dealing with IR and CCMA matters.
