A dynamic and prominent investment group is seeking a Finance Manager to take full ownership of its financial management function. This role encompasses responsibility for financial reporting, oversight of accounting operations, and ensuring compliance with relevant statutory and regulatory frameworks. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in guiding the finance team, managing audits, and supporting strategic business operations through robust financial insights.
POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and distribute monthly management accounts in line with agreed timelines
- Consolidate quarterly management accounts for group-level reporting
- Compile solvency and liquidity calculations where required
- Develop detailed quarterly cash flow forecasts to support working capital management
- Produce financial reports and management accounts for a wide range of stakeholders, including executive teams and portfolio investment entities
- Prepare annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS, IFRS for SMEs, the Companies Act, and the Income Tax Act
- Manage group consolidation for year-end reporting
- Oversee daily financial operations including banking, invoicing, investment accounting, general ledger maintenance, and accounts
- Review contracts and draft technical accounting position papers on investment treatments
- Supervise and support a team of four accountants
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of all balance sheet reconciliations, including intercompany accounts
- Maintain and enforce financial controls, policies, and risk mitigation strategies
- Oversee statutory payments and ensure timely submissions to SARS
- Annual payroll reconciliation and compliance oversight
- Fulfill compliance duties related to CIPC, SARS, PBO/NPO registrations, and other regulatory obligations
- Prepare and review income tax computations and returns for various entities, including foreign operations
- Coordinate external audits and manage auditor relationships
- Keep abreast of developments in IFRS, tax legislation, and regulatory frameworks
- File and reconcile VAT returns monthly and review VAT SOA
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA(SA))
- Minimum 5 years post-articles experience in a senior finance role
- Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving ability
- Advanced planning, organizational, and analytical skills

Job Experience & Skills Required:
- BCom Degree in Finance, Accounting, or equivalent
- SAICA/SAIPA articles or CIMA preferred advantageous
- Minimum of 5–7 years’ experience in a financial management role within manufacturing or agriculture

Duties & Responsibilities
- Establish and implement department procedures modifying as necessary.
- Prepares reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income expenses and earnings based on past present and expected operations.
- Oversees cash flow management.
- Responsible for monthend close and all account reconciliations to provide an accurate financial representation of the company.
- Prepares and monitors budget with input from all departments.
- Provides management with timely reviews of the organizations financial status and progress in its various programs and activities.
- Prepares and reviews financial statements.
- Reviews and audits company accounts for consistency and accuracy.
- Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies.
- Establishes relations with banks financial institutions and international suppliers.
Requirements
Desired Experience & Qualification
Postgraduate Hons in Bcom Accounting / BAcc Accounting or Financerelated field
3 years experience in managing teams in a medium sized organization
Qualified CA(SA) is a bonus

Provide financial advice and support to the Financial Director (30%)
- Funding, revenue, and income generating strategies.
- Cost reduction strategies.
- Tax planning and tax structuring.

Responsibilities:
Financial Oversight
- Manage daily finance functions for the operating unit.
- Provide financial oversight for the manufacturing site, ensuring company policies and internal controls are adhered to.
- Offer financial and operational support to the Finance Executive.
Financial Accounting
- Ensure financial completeness and maintain the general ledger per IFRS and Group Policy.
- Review, assess, and recommend levels of provisions.
- Conduct monthly reviews of all general ledger balance sheet reconciliations.
- Oversee monthly financial month-end close, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Submit reports to Stats SA.
Monthly Reporting
- Prepare financial reports for the operating unit (monthly, half-year, and annually).
- Open and close GL periods.
- Review sales and consignment stock reconciliations.
- Review and approve journals processed by finance.
- Analyze the Income Statement month-on-month.
- Review Balance Sheet reconciliations.
Financial Year-End and Statutory Audits
- Compile all year-end reporting packs.
- Prepare statutory Annual Financial Statements.
- Coordinate the year-end external audit process.
Taxation
- Prepare year-end tax computations and deferred tax roll forwards.
- Submit tax returns, including ITR14 and provisional tax returns.
- File DWT returns if dividends are declared.
- Utilize the Konsise tax platform for tax processes.
Banking
- Ensure compliance with company cash policies and meet daily cash requirements.
- Submit daily cash flow reports to Remgro Treasury.
- Oversee cash forecasting and approve payments.
- Release daily payments and authorize one-off cash book payments.
- Approve payments to oil suppliers via the vendor financing app.
- Perform authorized bank approver functions.
Fixed Asset Life Cycle Management
- Support the fixed assets team with annual physical asset verification.
- Ensure annual useful life and residual value reassessments comply with IFRS.
- Assist with maintaining lease asset app changes.
Debtor Management
- Oversee invoice, credit memo, and receipt processing.
- Monitor the account with SDO and ensure oils revaluation is completed quarterly.
- Liaise with Vector regarding payment allocations and debtor aging.
Creditor Management
- Approve daily cash requests from the central creditor's department.
- Address account issues between customers and the central creditor's team.
- Ensure oil supplier reconciliations are current without unresolved queries.
Staff Management
- Manage and develop the finance team.
- Coach and support team members to achieve career objectives.
- Foster cohesion between finance and commercial teams.
Internal Controls
- Identify and implement opportunities for improved control procedures.
- Follow up on audit queries and ensure corrective action is taken.
- Perform control checks to ensure compliance with approved procedures.
Partnering in a Matrix Environment
- Act as a liaison between the business and central finance teams.
- Facilitate effective communication across teams to meet finance deliverables.
