Sovereign, a national supplier of quality chicken products to various markets with operations in five provinces, is seeking a thorough and committed individual for the position of an Electrical Technician for operations in the Commercial division. This position reports directly to the Services Engineer: GMR2 and carries the TASK grade of T13. The ideal candidate must be in possession of an Electrical/Automation Engineering NQF Level 6 qualification and 5 – 8 years' experience.
Responsibilities
- Manage and perform root cause analysis on fatal failures and re occurring breakdowns and implement measures to mitigate.
- To establish and maintain a safe work environment specifically where machinery is involved.
- Fault find on PLCs by going online with equipment
- Adhere to GMP required in terms of FSSC 2000
- Manage accurate recording of electrical breakdowns.
- Draw up task clarifications of proposed projects involving changes to plant utilization and/or new equipment.
- Update maintenance schedules and report weekly on completed, pending and outstanding maintenance.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with SANS Standards for installation work.
- Develop and co – ordinate planned activities of the electrical team and managing talent within the department.
- Compile reports to management and attend meetings
- Appointed GMR 2.7 to assist GMR 2.1 with duties in line with Occupational Health and Safety Act
Qualifications

- PLC Programs – Siemens S7 / TIA, Allen Bradley, Omron.

Responsibilities
- Ensure day to day maintenance of plant and equipment to minimize downtime whilst proactively track and monitor agreed maintenance schedules/job cards.
- Provide feedback on Continuous Improvement suggestions and project status.
- Make sure fault rectification complies with legislation in situations where deviations are required and must be escalated for approval.
