THE JOB AT A GLANCE

The Business Analyst in the Business Enablement team has the responsibility to gather, analyse, document, and validate the needs of the business stakeholders and serves as the principal conduit for managing data insights requirements between the business and the data warehouse development team. Key to this role is the gathering and the interpretation of data in order to meet and solve business requirements .The individual should have the ability to problem solve and present solutions to senior management using data insights .Key to this role is the interpretation of key long -term insurance metrics to enhance the life business strategy .The primary responsibilities are to gather business requirements from business users and subject matter experts, define and document those requirements, write functional specifications, perform data gap analysis between requirements and existing data sources, coordinate with data scientists . Engage the business leads on business requirements and use data and data insights to solution. Interpretation of data is the key function of the business analyst and the subsequent business solutions and requirements

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

• Identify, assess and provide solutions to business requirements
• Liaise with appropriate stakeholders to identify, assess, and document business requirements
• Carry out the relevant assessment to determine if solutions to business requirements currently exist within or outside the business unit, and if not, whether new solutions are feasible
• Analyse impact of proposed solution across the business, develop use cases to explain / demonstrate business requirements / specifications to IT team, and contribute a business or process perspective during design reviews
• Engage and collaborate with cross functional teams
• Assist testing / QA team to ensure that requirements documentation can be easily translated into test plans, and ensure that the proper testing plans have been completed
• Facilitate implementation of new functionality through the development of appropriate documentation
• Work with test team to develop system integration test scripts and ensure the testing results correspond to the business expectations

Job Purpose

Perform a threefold chain of work for Internal Customers at all three levels - Operational, Tactical and Strategic - as required. Conduct Investigation, Analysis and Description. Investigate and analyse on request business ideas, needs and problems, and utilise frameworks, syntaxes and standard methods to perform descriptive work. Develop models, processes, documents and reports to ensure efficiencies.

• Stakeholder Engagement: Identify and manage stakeholders up to management level, determine their needs/issues/concerns, and lead the development of stakeholder engagement plans to support communication of business information and decisions. Maintain fulfilment relationships and translate discussions between business and fulfilment areas.
• Business Requirements Identification: Elicit complex business requirements using interviews, document analysis, workshops, and workflow analysis to express requirements in terms of target user roles and goals. Describe business requirements, processes and data in an agreed format and using agreed methods.
• Needs Assessment: Uncover emerging issues or needs, identifying potential causes, barriers and key stakeholders as well as related issues.
• Analysis of "As Is" and "To Be": Document complex as-is and to-be processes and describe changes required to migrate to the to-be capability to record the changes accurately.
• Continuous Improvement: Review existing operations in a major area of work and implement innovation processes to generate new ideas and ensure continuous improvement outcomes are delivered. Identify shortcomings in processes, systems and procedures, and develop solutions with guidance from senior colleagues or the Manager.
• Business Case: Manage the delivery of feasibility and assessment work for proposed and current projects to contribute to the development and continuous review of business cases. Influence discussion about solutions, projects and initiatives based on analysis of relevant business domains.
• Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities through assessment and development planning, training and coaching; maintain understanding of relevant technology, regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education.

Education

Business Analysis, Grade 12/ SAQA Accredited Equivalent (Essential)

Experience

3 years experience in a business analyst or data analyst role (Essential). 3 years financial services experience with exposure to complex systems and procedures (Essential).

Key Responsibilities

• Definition and validation of accounting treatment across banking domains
• Provide authoritative input into the design and maintenance of a multi-dimensional and cost center driven Chart of Accounts (CoA)
• Engage with finance stakeholders to elicit, analyse, and validate business and functional requirements related to GL, AP, Procurement, and Fixed asset processes.
• Translate business requirements into functional specifications as input to the configuration of GL, AP, Procurement, and Fixed asset within the selected solution
• Support solution architects, configurators, and developers to design scalable, compliant, and accurate GL, AP, Procurement, and Fixed asset modules.

• Support the testing competency by reviewing created test scenarios / cases and validation of the output of the testing results for accuracy and compliance with approved business rules.

• Monitor solution performance post-implementation, resolve issues, and identify opportunities for further optimization or automation.

• 610 years experience in banking or financial services, with deep expertise in finance and accounting.
