Pick-Nik Marketing (Pty) Ltd manufactures, markets and sells tissue and hygiene products through Retail and Business to Business channels in South Africa and neighboring countries. Its Head Office and operational factories are in Gauteng, Kempton Park.

We are seeking the services of a highly capable Maintenance Fitter .

The incumbent is responsible for minimizing plant downtime, maximizing equipment reliability and extending the operating life of plant equipment and machinery by executing corrective, preventive and proactive maintenance activities, with the aim to have minimal interruption to production.

THE POSITION

Reporting to the Maintenance Foreman/Manager. The incumbent must:

Ensure equipment repairs and scheduled maintenance are conducted in a safe, timely and compliant manner, with minimal impact on operational activities. training, and supervision of production

personnel to ensure assets are operated in a safe and proper manner to increase efficiencies on site and maximize throughput.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Inspect all sections of plant and equipment in assigned areas of responsibilities, ensuring that all defects are noted on the inspection forms for immediate repair or during future maintenance shutdowns. Ensure job cards are created for all defects on the CMMS.
• Daily reporting of problems that happened on shift and filling in of required (RCFA page 1, Job cards, etc.)
• Repair equipment as identified through job card requests, improvement project,
• During equipment breakdowns ensure that all equipment that has failed must be dealt with immediately and brought back to working conditions to ensure that it is available when it is required. Fault finding is done immediately after repairing the breakdown, with emphasis on finding and eliminating the root cause.
• All temporary repairs must be reported to the maintenance manager immediately and a follow-up job card open.
• Inform plant management of all situations or conditions that could result in downtime and to take all such remedial action as is necessary to minimize downtime as a result thereof.
• Maintain workshop machinery to ensure they are fit for safe (Pedestal grinders, welding machines, ladders, etc.)
• Ensure that maintenance jobs cards issued are completed timeously (before end of shift) and to the correct standard. Upon completion, production must sign the job card off.
• Assist with the development of maintenance plans, risk assessments, maintenance work instructions, and required audits to ensure high levels of clarity, compliance, and understanding among staff.
• Represent the company in a professional, ethical and positive manner always, both with respect to communication and appearance.
• Undertake all duties in accordance with relevant work health and safety requirements and in accordance with PickNik Marketing Occupational Health and Safety Policy and Procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Matric (Grade 12)
• Recognized trade (Fitter)
• Minimum of N3 Mechanical Engineering

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• At least 3-4 years’ relevant mechanical and plant maintenance experience
• Be able to interact and communicate effectively on all levels

Purpose of the Job:

The Maintenance Fitter is responsible for maintaining and repairing company machinery and equipment.

Requirements:

1. Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent.

2. Red Seal Fitter Qualification

3. Minimum of 5-7 years working experience as a Fitter.

4. Relevant technical training in fitting, welding, or machinery operation is an advantage.

5. Hands-on experience with mechanical systems, installation, maintenance, and repair.

6. Experience in using machinery such as drills, grinders, and welding equipment.

7. Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations in mechanical work environments.

8. Familiarity with tools and equipment for assembly, fitting, and maintenance.

9. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

10. Ability to work and solve problems independently.

MAINTENANCE FITTER Our client a Blue chip stable and reputable Manufacturing company in Vanderbijlpark is looking for a qualified Fitter with the following: Education and Experience:

• Grade 12/N3 (must qualification)
• Qualified Red Seal Mechanical Fitter Trade
• At least six months of related experience with production machinery, lathe, Milling, Drilling, Thermal Heating, Cutting and Welding equipment and machines.

• To perform journeyman-level maintenance, operation, repair and overhaul of all plant equipment and related hydraulic and pneumatic systems: fabricate, install and retrofit related auxiliary devices: perform related work.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic problems in all equipment and machinery,

Duties & responsibilities

Primary Duties

• Underground and surface product support including troubleshooting and fitment of new or repaired components.
• Underground and surface support including pump commissioning, end-user training and product condition monitoring.
• The identification of repair work/business in the form of complete pump overhauls as well as sub- assemblies during your technical interventions with the products and end-users.
• Develop strong relationships with end-users, specifically Mine Shaft Foremen and Fitters.
• Service exchange delivery and fitment which may include breakdowns.
• Accurate completion of job cards and reports.
• Completion of monthly expenditure reports.

Secondary duties

• Deliveries and collections of components from and to clients.
• Expedite the completion of job cards, delivery notes and invoices.
• Assist in any of the organisations workshops or assemblies as required and where trained to do so.
