SCOPE
All functions, duties, and responsibilities of the Divisional Manufacturing Manager. Reports to the Divisional CEO.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree/National Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline/industry.
- Business Administration Qualification (MDP/MAP/PDM)
- Diploma/Degree in Operations and Quality Management
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience working in the Manufacturing Industry
EXPERIENCE/COMPETENCIES
- Detailed knowledge of Electrical Transmission and Distribution Systems.
- Detailed knowledge and experience of Operations and Maintenance of Distribution Transformers industry.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Good written and verbal communications skills.
- Able to organize, plan and monitor all aspects of the work.
AUTHORITY
- To co-sign Purchase Requisitions as per Group and Distribution Transformers Procurement Policies.
- 2 Appointee for the Division’s manufacturing facilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Manufacturing Management:
- Developing Objectives and Strategies — Establishing short, medium, and long-term objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve them.
- Manage timely data collection to update operations metrics to achieve productivity targets, reduce cost per unit, eliminate errors, and deliver excellent customer service.
- Continuous optimization of efficiency, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining and improving quality standards.
- Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics, and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets.
- Design and enhance processes in support of continuous improvement programs.
- Responsible for monitoring and continually improving standards of performance and quality within the operation.
- Ensure production planning and execution is in line with customer requirements.
- Verify progress in relation to contractual completion dates on specific contracts.
- Ensure that all machines are in good working condition, maintained and utilized efficiently by applying preventative maintenance principles.
- Financial Management:
- Monthly accounts review and investigation of Income Statement including allocations and expenses incurred vs. budget.
- Promote Margin Improvement Opportunities and Cost Optimization Initiatives.
- Ensure that effective cash flow management and proactive asset processes are in place to attain divisional targets.
- Responsible for managing basic financial performance of the department, including revenue growth and operational expense control.
- Facilitate the financial decision-making process at Senior Management level by interpreting operational requirements and integrating with discipline-based financial needs to ensure the availability of financial resources.
- Review capital expenditure & forecasts to ensure alignment with business strategy & to optimize return on investment.
- Direct the implementation and management of financial systems & processes to ensure optimal accountability.
- Management of corrective actions with regards to cost controls.
- Ensure that the commercial agreements with the different contractor partners are in place and aligned to business objectives.
- Manage the annual budgeting process for the operation.
- Customer/Stakeholder Relationship Management:
- Ensure and maintain ongoing operational working relationships with the customers and stakeholders.
- Conducting customer visits and maintaining ongoing relationships with customers as well as liaising with customer and customer services.
- Identify key role players in the industry and build and maintain strategic relationships where necessary.
- Create an environment of trust through timeous, open, and honest communication.
- Interact with clients and stakeholders and find out what their requirements are and find ways to address them in a mutually beneficial way.
- Form close links with the nominated representatives/agents in other territories to ensure that all the requirements of the clients are met and satisfied.
- Manage and grow key customer relationships within existing accounts whilst developing new business opportunities.
- Human Resource Management:
- Manage the departmental HR processes in terms of HR policies & procedures, Performance Management, Training & Development, Recruitment, Manpower Planning, Discipline, etc.
- Guiding, Directing, and Motivating Subordinates — Providing guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
- Give effective guidance and ensure compliance with company policies & procedures.
- Create an effective working environment and understand the political and socio-economic environment.
- Manage discipline in all sections. Has authority for the hiring and dismissing of employees and for determining remuneration levels for the department under his control within the constraints of the divisional limitations.
- Maintain appropriate staffing level and workload distribution to meet production and business needs.
- SHEQ Management (ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001):
- Responsible for adhering to the requirements of abovementioned systems as directed by the SHEQ Management System (which includes relevant legislation, Policies, Procedures, Work Instructions, specifications, etc.)
- Minimize business losses for accidents, occupational illness, and environmental incidents on the plants.
- Ensure that Quality Assurance is confirmed to in every aspect, especially around documentation control.
- Ensures compliance with all standards for Safety, Environmental, Work Procedures, Quality.
- Ensure the adherence to all applicable safety, health, housekeeping, and quality standards and actively seek to improve said standards.
- Assurance and Quality Control systems as adopted by the Distribution Transformers Division.

- Assess quality of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management

- Assist Project Managers with technical advice
- Communicate time delays on stock with factory manager
- Source new suppliers
- Attend to ADHOC projects as and when requested by Management or as required by operational procedures

A leading company in the red meat industry is looking for a Supervisor of a Manufacturing Plant with manufacturing plant/meat production experience to supervise the end-to-end production process, including filling, drying, packing, wrapping, and labelling of all boerewors/sausage, burgers, meatballs, and pets mince.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesProduction
- Responsible for boerewors/sausage production process.
- Develop, review, and implement efficient and effective procedures and processes to optimize production.
- Responsible for the delivery of product according to a set standard, at a reasonable cost and productivity.
- Stock control management (stock rotation).
- Ensure product meets all customer requirements, especially but not limited to product appearance, packing, and labelling.
- Oversee that hygiene standards are applied throughout all processes and procedures.
- Responsible for the application of the correct selection criteria and quality standards (e.g., neatness; sequence etc.) of labelling.
- Ensure that all procedures are implemented in accordance with legal requirements e.g., hygiene.
People Supervision
- Supervise and control subordinates' activities to ensure daily production targets are met.
- Supervise time and attendance of all subordinates.
- Ensure disciplinary procedures are applied adequately.
- Assure stable employee relations by managing conflict and creating a positive and performing working environment.
- Grade 12
- 3-5 years manufacturing plant/meat production experience.
