ROLE PURPOSE
The Kitchen Assistant is responsible for ensuring all kitchen areas, meeting rooms, and stationery points are replenished daily with the required consumables, cutlery, crockery, and hygiene products. The role supports the Stock Controller with stock control, issuing, and receiving of goods, and contributes to maintaining clean, safe, and well-managed storerooms.
MAIN OUTPUTS
1. Stock Replenishment & Control
- Perform daily replenishment of kitchens, meeting rooms, and stationery points.
- Issue and receive stock using handheld devices.
- Inform the Stock Controller promptly when stock levels are low.
- Conduct weekly stock counts.
- Ensure kitchens remain fully stocked with refreshments, cutlery, and crockery.
- Collect and distribute stock to relevant buildings.
- Issue fruit, milk, and hygiene consumables (to Prestige weekly).
2. Storeroom Management
- Maintain storerooms in a neat and clean condition.
- Arrange weekly storeroom cleaning.
- Ensure safe stacking and correct storage of products.
- Manage expiry dates and rotate stock (FIFO method).
- Conduct quality checks on fruit.
3. Equipment & Facilities Care
- Clean coffee machines daily.
- Ensure stock-related equipment is handled responsibly.
- Report faults or shortages to the Stock Controller immediately.
4. Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with the Stock Controller to manage stock levels efficiently.
- Support colleagues in meeting replenishment deadlines and quality standards.
- Uphold teamwork and communication in daily team meetings.

Reside in the area close to the old age home or in the surrounding areas, a chefs diploma or professional cookery certificate/food preparation programmes obtained through an accredited chefs school, minimum of 1 year previous kitchen work experience, be able to work shifts and alternate weekends, sound knowledge of food safety regulations, understanding the importance of health and safety, ability to interact with clients from different cultures and religions, manage conflict situations, excellent verbal communication skills, ability to work as a team player, be of sober habits, no criminal record, be in good health, experience in the NGO sector will be an advantage.
