Key Responsibilities
Planning:

Community Engagement:
• Consulting with stakeholders and communities to address their concerns, identify local needs, and gain mutual agreement on development plans.
Enabling Development:
• By securing necessary planning permissions and approvals, town planners provide the legal and regulatory pathway for construction projects to begin.
Minimizing Risk:
• Supports team to ensure developments are aligned with policy and legislation, which helps to avoid future legal or operational issues
Qualifications and Experience
1-3 years of relevant experience in the same / similar role
Experience within the construction and built environment a must
Degree in Town and Regional Planning (BRTP) or equivalent

The Town Planning Manager will oversee, coordinate, and manage all town planning activities for the company's property development portfolio. Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Planning & Development Applications

2. Stakeholder & Authority Liaison

- Maintain positive working relationships with professional teams (architects, engineers, environmental consultants, attorneys).
3. Project Management & Compliance
- Manage timelines for planning approvals to ensure delivery in line with development programmes.
- Monitor compliance with SPLUMA, Municipal Planning By-laws, NEMA, and other relevant legislation.
- Track and report on application progress, risks, and approval conditions.
- Guide internal teams on planning risks and mitigation strategies.
4. Leadership & Advisory
- Provide town planning expertise to executive management, development managers, and design teams.
- Manage, mentor, and oversee planning support staff or external consultants.
- Advise on policy changes, land use trends, and regulatory shifts that could impact projects.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Town/Urban and Regional Planning.
- 3-5 years' relevant experience in town/urban planning, preferably within property development or a consultancy environment.
- Strong working knowledge of SPLUMA, Municipal Planning By-laws, and other applicable South African planning legislation.
- Proven track record of managing complex rezoning and development approval processes.
