Position: Maintenance Planner

Location: Cape Town, South Africa

Responsibilities:
  1. Create detailed schedules for inspections, lubrication, adjustments, and replacements.
  2. Develop check sheets aligned with manuals and incorporate them into the PM system.
  3. Tailor maintenance intervals based on usage, recommendations, and historical data.
  4. Generate work orders based on SAP schedules.
  5. Incorporate predictive maintenance technologies for early issue detection.
  6. Establish and communicate maintenance standards and best practices.
  7. Collaborate with manufacturers for updated maintenance procedures.
  8. Create maintenance procedures/manuals as needed.
  9. Conduct root cause analysis for equipment failures and implement preventive measures.
  10. Use FMEA to assess potential failures and prioritize preventative actions.
  11. Regularly review and update preventative maintenance plans based on feedback and data.
  12. Maintain a spare parts inventory with defined sources and lead times.
Requirements:
  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a Certificated Millwright.
  • Certified SAP user (Maintenance Module).
  • Fully proficient in using the SAP Maintenance Module.
  • Ability to conduct thorough root cause analyses to identify and address the underlying causes of equipment failures.
  • Understanding of Safety Regulations: Familiarity with occupational health and safety standards and regulations relevant to maintenance activities.
  • Several years of practical experience in maintenance planning, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Specific experience in developing and implementing preventative maintenance programs, including setting up of schedules and integrating predictive maintenance technologies within the SAP environment.

Reporting to the Senior Controls Manager , the Senior Planner will be a key support to our study and/or project teams. This position will be responsible for executing and monitoring the project schedule, as well as providing up-to-date data to assist with the management of project activities to the highest quality, in line with Company, Client and regulatory requirements.

Desired Experience & Qualification

The tasks you'll perform

  1. Establish Project schedules of each phase of the project including project development, planning approvals, engineering, procurement, manufacturing, transport, construction and commissioning.
  2. Read and interpret all typical design deliverables such as flow sheets, P&ID’s drawings, equipment lists and other data required to prepare and maintain a Project Schedule.
  3. Support the Project team to prepare the Project Schedules and provide up-to-date data to assist with the management of project activities to the highest quality.
  4. Respond immediately to change to ensure projects are completed on time in accordance with the contractual scope of work and services.
  5. Analyse scope changes and schedule trends and recommend actions or alternate execution options to improve schedule or mitigate delays.
  6. Confirm all implementation approaches and controls are reasonable in their establishment and are met throughout the project.
  7. Evaluate project progress to ensure that it is meeting budgetary and deadline objectives.
  8. Recognise progress concerns and report immediately to the Project Managers to ensure projects are completed within both budgetary and schedule constraints.

The expertise you'll bring

  1. 10+ years planning experience in mineral processing/construction projects.
  2. Tertiary qualification in Engineering preferred.
  3. Demonstrated ability to and/or proficiency in the use of specific, relevant proprietary software packages.
  4. Ability to prepare accurate, detailed schedules and reports to meet strict project deadlines.
  5. High attention to detail and exceptional knowledge of Project Planning and Management.
  6. Aptitude in building and sustaining positive relationships with all stakeholders, including clients, vendors and colleagues.
  7. Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision whilst consistently producing a high quality of deliverables.
  8. A self-starter who can readily adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
