Job Overview

To develop, maintain and manage the implementation of the Standard Bank's regulatory advocacy and stakeholder engagement strategy and functional framework; to ensure alignment and adherence to policy and legislative developments to protect and enhance Standard Bank's reputation and competitive advantage by ensuring business is done in a responsible manner. To provide guidance and advice on regulatory developments and optimal ways to engage with government, regulators and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively contribute and provide subject matter expertise into the development of a strategy on advocacy and stakeholder engagement for Standard Bank South Africa (SBSA) in order to enhance credibility and trust. Identify, map, foster and drive material stakeholder relationships for SBSA in line with strategy.
  • To provide guidance and advice on policy, legislative and regulatory developments and optimal ways to engage with all stakeholders including government, regulators and external stakeholders. Drive and actively contribute and provide subject matter expertise to the development of a strategy on stakeholder engagement for Standard Bank South Africa (SBSA) in order to enhance credibility and trust. Actively drive the development of stakeholder engagement skill sets and develop people to in line with these to ensure successful delivery against the mandate of the Corporate Citizenship and relevant internal stakeholders Function. Continuously evaluate and enhance SBSA stakeholder engagement capability to ensure the embedment of best practice stakeholder engagement practice.
  • Co-ordinate material stakeholder engagements for SBSA in line with SBSA values and policies. Collaborate with various internal business units with advisory support on protocol matters, stakeholder engagement and strategic engagements.
  • Stay up to date on policy, legislative and regulatory developments, exhibiting an ability to integrate cross-regulator themes of relevance to SBSA. Demonstrate and ensure continued technical knowledge of the policy and legislative environment, as well as skills in persuasion, conflict management and argument (advocacy and lobbying). Coordinate and maintain advocacy strategies around policy and legislative developments for multiple projects at once to ensure successful implementation across Standard Bank South Africa.
Qualifications
  • A tertiary qualification in Political Science/Public Policy/ Development Studies/ Public Management (A Master’s Degree will be advantageous) is required for this job
  • Preferred Qualifications: Post graduate degree in Public Policy/ Development Studies/ Political Science/ Public Management/ Economics/ Communications/ Risk Management would be beneficial for this job.

Ex p erience:

  • More than 10 years' experience as a senior manager in Citizenship and Risk Management with profound knowledge of the full dimensions of the field, but deep expertise in the relevant area of specialisation. Socio-economic and political environment savvy, a proven track record in large scale and high-level leadership and capable of influencing seasoned leaders in their own right as well as employees. The ability to engage with Exco's on all aspects relating to regulatory advocacy and stakeholder engagement.

  • Establishes organization guidelines for stakeholder engagement and stakeholder management roadmaps.
  • Formulates proactive processes that prioritize stakeholder engagement and cultural sensitivity. Initiates early engagement to allow time for buy-ins and consultations with stakeholders.
  • Develop communication strategies to build and maintain successful relationships with key strategic stakeholders.
  • Establish key stakeholder relationship management audit processes and criteria.
  • Collaborates with relevant senior stakeholders to ensure implementation of feedback processes.
  • Reviews and approves stakeholder engagement procedures, in line with emerging trends and regulations.
  • Addresses escalated issues and leads negotiations to influence key stakeholder decisions.
  • Establish insight generative processes that help identify key societal matters that impact the organisation, and what role and posture & position the organisation needs to take in relation to key stakeholders.

Strategy Formulation and Execution:

  • Develop and implement executive stakeholder management strategies that enable the bank's senior leaders to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor and measure the effectiveness of 3rd party relationships, stakeholder relations, and executive stakeholder management, and provide regular reporting and analysis to senior management.
  • Identify strategic role players and stakeholders and engage all stakeholders, role players and industry forums to understand changes to strategy, regulations, and markets.
  • Set and communicate a long-term strategy that clearly articulates strategic targets and metrics to align the delivery of the business strategy against the strategic objectives, targets and shareholder expectations.
  • Set and oversee the execution of the business strategy, with enablement capability across the Business Unit.
  • Translate the broad business lines strategy to drive the alignment of and integration of strategy across the value chain.

Customer Primacy:

  • Build and sustain a system and culture that aligns and contributes to a positive customer experience to deliver the target customer experience and financial performance.
  • Contribute as a key Group Marketing & Corporate Affairs ExCo member to the overall agenda internally and with external stakeholders, ensuring that the business line's agenda is appropriately managed and reported to all requisite stakeholders, particularly the Group ExCo.
  • Display, portray, and translate a deep understanding of market shifts and competitive positioning from a capability insights perspective and devise plans that will support prioritisation efforts.
  • Provide business insights based on market trends, competitor offerings and global best practices as it relates to the business lines.

  • Enforce corporate governance and risk compliance within the organization through the establishment of policies, compliance programs and management systems.

  • Minimum: Post Graduate Degree (NQF level no.8)

Pele Green Energy is seeking a talented, highly motivated, and self-driven Head of Project Management (Construction) to join our team. This role reports directly to the Head of Energy Operations.

The successful candidate will lead the Project Implementation function, overseeing all project management activities and guiding the team responsible for preparing and supervising the construction of our power plants. This will be executed in collaboration with selected EPC contractors and strategic partners, managing the full project lifecycle from Financial Close (FC) through to Commercial Operation Date (COD), final takeover, and internal handover to the Operations Team.



Requirements

Some of your key tasks will include but not be limited to:

  • Manage the day-to-day activities across a portfolio of complex infrastructure projects, from preparation for construction through to execution, and ensure a smooth handover to the Operations team.
  • Lead the project management team responsible for the construction of power plants.
  • Oversee the broader, cross-disciplinary team during the construction phase, ensuring all risks are identified and mitigated, and that key decisions are made or escalated to management as needed throughout the implementation phase.
  • Report on project success criteria, including results, key metrics, testing, and deployment management activities.
  • Apply creative and analytical thinking in a problem-solving environment, demonstrating teamwork, innovation, and a commitment to excellence.
  • Collaborate with Engineering teams for optimal project scope.
  • Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization, and project management tools.
  • Ensure proper record and management project documentation
  • Prepare estimates and detailed project plan for all phases of the project.
  • Procure adequate resources to achieve project objectives in planned timeframes, including the appointment of external resources included Owner’s Engineers, Independent Engineers, Lenders Technical Advisors, etc.
  • Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks, and issues, communicating across leadership.
  • Manage project scope and changes.
  • Strong understanding and application of business drivers, financial reporting standards.
  • Participate and/or drive feasibility studies, vendor selections and proposals for evaluation by appropriate key stakeholders.
  • Act as an internal quality control check for the project.
  • On-site regular quality inspection of the works, verification of contractual compliance, Tracking of site activities, Validation of the works progress for payment.
  • Manage ongoing quality control and participate in quality issue resolution.
  • Ensure that safety is key focus and paramount importance in all projects and shall be delivered in full compliance with local legislation and company policy and adherence / compliance to applicable standards, rules, and regulations (local and international).
  • Assist in dispute, negotiation, arbitration or litigation, as needed.
  • Support formal/informal schedules to manage the engagement contract.
  • Set and continually manage project expectations while delegating and managing deliverables with team members and stakeholders including ESG work.
  • Facilitate operational exchanges with the grid operator.
  • Monitor, track and control outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies and critical path deliverables.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations to various audiences, including project team, sponsors, EXCO and key stakeholders.
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project management team (construction phase).
  • Ensure that projects are proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • A degree in project management, business management or a related field.
  • 8 - 10 years of relevant project management experience, with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership or strategic role including tracking and planning projects.
  • 5+ years of experience working with business stakeholders within a cross-functional matrix environment.
  • 3+ years of experience with full product lifecycle with understanding of development lifecycles and various technology methodologies that support that lifecycle.
  • Proven track record in managing large-scale infrastructure or energy projects, ideally from Financial Close (FC) to Commercial Operation Date (COD).
  • Experience working with EPC contractors, multidisciplinary teams, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with MS Project, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint and SharePoint with experience presenting to stakeholders and / or Senior Leadership.
  • Proven ability to demonstrate a drive for results and accountability of business needs.

Job Description

Pele Green Energy is seeking a talented, highly motivated, and self-driven Head of Project Management (Construction) to join our team. This role reports directly to the Head of Energy Operations.

The successful candidate will lead the Project Implementation function, overseeing all project management activities and guiding the team responsible for preparing and supervising the construction of our power plants. This will be executed in collaboration with selected EPC contractors and strategic partners, managing the full project lifecycle from Financial Close (FC) through to Commercial Operation Date (COD), final takeover, and internal handover to the Operations Team.

Requirements

Some of your key tasks will include but not be limited to:

  • Manage the day-to-day activities across a portfolio of complex infrastructure projects, from preparation for construction through to execution, and ensure a smooth handover to the Operations team
  • Lead the project management team responsible for the construction of power plants
  • Oversee the broader, cross-disciplinary team during the construction phase, ensuring all risks are identified and mitigated, and that key decisions are made or escalated to management as needed throughout the implementation phase
  • Report on project success criteria, including results, key metrics, testing, and deployment management activities
  • Apply creative and analytical thinking in a problem-solving environment, demonstrating teamwork, innovation, and a commitment to excellence
  • Collaborate with Engineering teams for optimal project scope
  • Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization, and project management tools
  • Ensure proper record and management project documentation
  • Prepare estimates and detailed project plan for all phases of the project
  • Procure adequate resources to achieve project objectives in planned timeframes, including the appointment of external resources included Owner's Engineers, Independent Engineers, Lenders Technical Advisors, etc
  • Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks, and issues, communicating across leadership
  • Manage project scope and changes
  • Strong understanding and application of business drivers, financial reporting standards
  • Participate and/or drive feasibility studies, vendor selections and proposals for evaluation by appropriate key stakeholders
  • Act as an internal quality control check for the project
  • On-site regular quality inspection of the works, verification of contractual compliance, Tracking of site activities, Validation of the works progress for payment
  • Manage ongoing quality control and participate in quality issue resolution
  • Ensure that safety is key focus and paramount importance in all projects and shall be delivered in full compliance with local legislation and company policy and adherence / compliance to applicable standards, rules, and regulations (local and international)
  • Assist in dispute, negotiation, arbitration or litigation, as needed
  • Support formal/informal schedules to manage the engagement contract
  • Set and continually manage project expectations while delegating and managing deliverables with team members and stakeholders including ESG work
  • Facilitate operational exchanges with the grid operator
  • Monitor, track and control outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies and critical path deliverables
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations to various audiences, including project team, sponsors, EXCO and key stakeholders
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project management team (construction phase)
  • Ensure that projects are proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards
  • Manage project issues and risks to mitigate impact to baseline
  • Extensive understanding of project management principles, methods, and techniques
  • Provide leadership for the project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project
  • Performance reviews and staff development
  • Establish practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization
  • Report all Environment Health Safety findings via the internal reporting systems
  • Critically analyze our objectives and those of the stakeholders to ensure universally successful outcomes and communicate effectively to all the stakeholders with accurate information
  • Critically examine our project impact on operations and align with key stakeholders so that impact on operations is minimized to balance project delivery and operations
  • Execute projects effectively and deliver revenue, profit, and cash targets to the business
  • Regular reporting / updates to management advising project progress to plan, KPI's. Advice of areas requiring escalation, decision for resolution & non- conformance
  • Effective management of risk, opportunities, contract and claims through risk mitigation measures
  • Support the company in assessing alternative contracting structure for the construction

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • A degree in project management, business management or a related field
  • 8 - 10 years of relevant project management experience, with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership or strategic role including tracking and planning projects
  • 5+ years of experience working with business stakeholders within a cross-functional matrix environment
  • 3+ years of experience with full product lifecycle with understanding of development lifecycles and various technology methodologies that support that lifecycle
  • Proven track record in managing large-scale infrastructure or energy projects, ideally from Financial Close (FC) to Commercial Operation Date (COD)
  • Experience working with EPC contractors, multidisciplinary teams, and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Proficiency with MS Project, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint and SharePoint with experience presenting to stakeholders and / or Senior Leadership
  • Proven ability to demonstrate a drive for results and accountability of business needs

KEY ROLE:


The Design Manager will lead complex, multidisciplinary design projects within the Property & Buildings sector. This role requires strong coordination across engineering disciplines, client engagement, and project delivery oversight. The incumbent will ensure that design solutions meet functional requirements, regulatory standards, and client expectations while driving efficiency and innovation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Project Leadership & Delivery

  • Manage the internal delivery of multi-disciplinary design projects (architectural, structural, MEPF, sustainability).
  • Develop and manage project scope, timelines, budgets, and resources.
  • Lead design reviews at key milestones (30%, 60%, 90%) and ensure stakeholder alignment.
  • Drive constructability and value-engineering reviews to optimize outcomes.


Stakeholder Engagement


Facilitate requirements workshops and compile Statements of Requirements (SoR).
Coordinate with internal teams, clients, consultants, and contractors.
Ensure timely communication and approvals across all stakeholders.


Design Coordination


Ensure alignment of design documentation with SoR and Basis of Design (BoD).
Coordinate design team activities and ensure timely delivery across disciplines.
Manage long-lead items and services integration into design documentation.


Commercial & Contractual Oversight


Support contract negotiations with internal and external consultants.
Track and manage design-related costs and scope changes.
Provide commercial support to enhance project profitability.


Quality, Risk & Compliance


Conduct project audits and ensure compliance with SHEQ standards.
Identify and mitigate design risks.
Ensure documentation accuracy and adherence to regulatory standards.


Operational Support

  • Assist BU Heads and HoDs with resource planning and productivity tracking.
  • Produce reports, presentations, and briefing documents as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • B.Arch or Degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Project Management or related field.
  • 5–10 years’ experience in design/project management within the property sector.
  • Project Management qualification (e.g., PMP) advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of MEPF systems and multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Strong knowledge of South African building regulations, municipal approval processes, and construction practices.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, BIM platforms).
