PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Group Nursing Services Manager is responsible for planning staffing resources and systematically gathering and analyzing data related to the delivery of quality nursing and patient care services.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Support participation in national program recognition as directed by the Board.
- Review laws, regulations, and literature to identify areas for assessment to ensure compliance with standards required by OHSC, DOH, DOL, OHS, MCC, CDC, SANC, and other statutory and accrediting bodies.
- Create quality improvement processes, policies, and manuals as needed.
- Develop a culture of patient-centered, data-driven care with high reliability of clinical processes.
- Promote proactive safety risk reduction through redesign of organizational processes using quality and performance improvement models.
- Manage continuous clinical quality improvement through collaboration with clinical providers, specialists, and ancillary departments.
- Act as liaison between administrative, management, medical staff, and employees.
- Oversee guidelines for monitoring and reporting quality metrics such as benchmarks, LSIs, and KPIs, including risk tracking and trending.
- Participate in regional improvement projects to enhance clinical quality performance.
- Identify hospital-wide opportunities for clinical process improvements, including conducting formal studies related to organizational performance.
- Assist in implementing clinical documentation audits of quality processes.
- Develop structured auditing criteria for medical records to ensure compliance with clinical care standards.
- Perform internal clinical audits across hospitals.
- Educate providers on best clinical quality practices as needed.
- Collaborate with Medical and Nursing Teams to improve patient care quality.
- Investigate clinical quality issues and coordinate resolutions with the NSM.
- Interface with pharmacy staff to establish medication and prescribing quality initiatives.
- Work with medical and nursing teams to define educational objectives supporting quality programs, consulting with department heads and managers.
- Communicate updates and new information to Medical and Clinical Leadership, ensuring compliance with protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain current knowledge of healthcare quality improvement processes and issues.
- Represent quality interests in developing electronic staff education and development systems.
- Assist with designing and implementing clinical informatics to support care processes.
- Lead and manage monthly QA meetings, providing relevant data and trends for QA Committees, management, and Ethics committees, collaborating closely with IS and Medical Records departments.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- A Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
- Over 10 years of nursing management experience.
- Knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations.
- Experience with healthcare quality improvement, clinical research, informatics, and continuous quality improvement principles.
- Experience in abstracting and evaluating clinical information from medical records.
- Organized, accurate, and detail-oriented.
- Proficient in Windows-based applications, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
