Position SummaryThe Automotive Technician plays a pivotal role within our automotive service team. As a vital member, you learn and develop foundational skills in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles. Under the guidance of experienced technicians, this role involves hands-on learning to address various automotive systems and services. Automotive Technicians participate in routine inspections, contribute to vehicle assessments, and assist in repair procedures. Additionally, Automotive Technicians may interact with customers to explain repair procedures, answer inquiries, and provide exceptional service. Overall, this role demands a combination of mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship in a fast-paced environment. This role offers a unique opportunity for individuals to build a solid foundation in automotive repair while contributing to the overall success of our team.
Pay Range: $7.00 - 25.50
ResponsibilitiesChange oil and perform other scheduled maintenance services.
Perform inspections of steering, suspension, and brake systems.
Install batteries and check electrical systems.
Perform tire maintenance.
Install parts.
Road test vehicles.
Obtain or maintain A.S.E. certifications in at least one of A1 – A8 within first two years of employment (Tests and registrations fees are paid for by company pass or fail. Technicians receive bonus for each test passed)
- Ability to learn basic mechanical tasks.
- Must have a valid automobile driver's license at all times and be able to drive customer and company vehicles.
- Basic understanding of general automotive maintenance & tire repair services including:
- Oil changes
- Basic inspections
- Repairing tires
- Reading, writing, and math skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years of automotive repair experience, completion of Vocational-Technical School program in a related field or demonstrated skills via third party certificates/assessment.
- A.S.E certification or equivalent external qualifications or training certifications.

Seeking reliable and motivated individuals with automotive experience, looking to join a team whose values are based on teamwork and delivering the highest caliber of customer service!
Tire Technician Responsibilities:
- Inspect and assess tire tread levels, wear patterns, valve quality, and overall health.
- Recommend appropriate repair treatment or replacement of tires.
- Repair punctures and replace faulty valves.
- Install new tires.
- Balance tires and complete wheel alignment procedures.
- Conduct roadside repairs.
- Examine vehicles to identify necessary repair or maintenance items that may not be included on the repair order, and communicate to the Service Advisor.
- Notify Service Advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined on the repair order is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed by the time promised.
- Clearly and accurately document all work performed; ensure accurate time stamps for warranty, internal, and customer pay work.
- Road test vehicles as required or refer to the inspection technician as appropriate.
- Only perform work that is authorized by the customer or by the warranty.
- Work and enter third party tire claims through various electronic applications.
Shop Assistant / QC Tech Responsibilities:
- Examine and test-drive all vehicles to ensure that the cause of vehicle malfunctions and recommend/ perform repairs are completed. Communicate all discrepancies to the Service Manager.
- Road test vehicles as required or refer to the inspection technician as appropriate.
- Inspecting all work as described on the repair order with efficiency and accuracy.
- Charge all vehicle batteries.
- Move Vehicles in and around the shop.
- Assist in towing in all non-running vehicles using shop supplied equipment.
- Shop organization including equipment, tools, supplies, and parts.
- Communicate discrepancies to service advisors/service managers.

Qualifications include but are not limited to:
- Knowledge of OE scan tools
- Ability to learn new tools as needed
- Knowledge of wiring repair procedures
- Ability to service A/C systems
- Possesses diagnostic skills in the automotive trade
- Basic computer knowledge including using email, spreadsheet and messaging systems
- Willing and able to update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading technical publications and the like
- Must possess high school degree or GED equivalent
- 4-10 years related service technician experience required

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB : Must be an Automotive Petrol Qualified Technician, preferably experienced with the following brands: Citroen, Jeep, Opel, Peugeot, Alfa Romeo, Abarth. Responsible for repairing and servicing motor vehicles according to manufacturer standards and specifications.
MAIN JOB FUNCTIONS :
- Determine parts required for service or repairs and ensure correct parts are ordered.
- Report any additional work needed to the foreman promptly.
- Obtain authorization before performing additional work or fitting parts costing more than approximately R.00.
- Seek technical information from the foreman on complex jobs.
- Follow strictly the technical specifications laid down by manufacturers.
- Perform duties in accordance with manufacturer standards and workshop policies.
- Write concise descriptions of all work performed on the back of the job card, including causes and corrections.
- Ensure old parts are stored properly, tagged when necessary, and returned if warranty work is involved.
- Record oils and consumables used on the job card.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and use seat and fender covers.
- Keep the work area safe, clean, and organized.
- Accurately record time worked on the timesheet promptly after completing each task.
- Report faulty or broken equipment to the foreman.
- Use special tools and equipment carefully and maintain them in good condition.
- Possess and maintain a complete set of personal hand tools as per M.I.F., in good working order.
- Repair vehicles according to specifications within the flat rate time.
- Mentor apprentices and learners, ensuring they acquire the necessary skills, and inspect their work.
- Maintain a neat appearance and foster cordial relationships with workshop staff.
- Ensure customer vehicles are not used improperly, and accessories are not tampered with.
- Keep components, parts, and accessories organized, safely stored, and recorded for proper recognition and reassembly.
- Handle tools and equipment responsibly, signing them out when used and keeping them in good order.
