Purpose: Independently perform in-field equipment Preventative Maintenance by operating a mobile service vehicle and traveling to customer locations. Job Essential Duties:
- Performs maintenance tasks on all John Deere equipment at suggested intervals.
- Performs required work quickly and efficiently within standard job times.
- Performs repairs on all makes and models of equipment.
- Inspect machines during routine maintenance to identify any additional repairs noting them on the work order.
- Accountable for billable time and assigned work orders.
- Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
- Always maintains a professional appearance and demeanor while on duty and at customer job sites.

KONE is looking for qualified Maintenance Technicians in Pretoria , South Africa . Our team comprises maintenance professionals who provide on-site customer service to ensure our equipment's smooth and safe operation. We seek a service-minded Maintenance Technician to provide our customers with professional elevator and escalator maintenance service.
In this role, you will be at the core of KONE - an everyday hero who makes people's lives easier. You will ensure quality service, improve equipment safety and performance, and promote regular and proactive on-site communication with customers and the people using the equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for customer satisfaction through quality of service and regular, proactive, and precise on-site communication.
- Responsible for accurate and real-time back reporting of work performed.
- Maintain excellent relationships with the customers, the contact person, and end-users on site.
- Manage the site environment during service operations.
- Identification of site risks, and timely communication of any such occurrences.
- Identifying “unplanned” service repairs based on the equipment needs, contacting the on-site contact person, getting his approval if not covered by the contract, and performing them.
- Management of PAR stock levels (shelving, inventory, stock transfer) and timely issuance of replenishment orders.
- Submit timesheets based on the execution.
Skills & Experience:
- Successful candidate must live in Pretoria.
- One or more of the following qualifications:
- Red seal trade test certificate lift mechanic.
- Completed NQF level 4 certification with apprenticeship program (minimum 4 years).
- Completed Electrical/Mechanical Engineer Diploma/Degree with completion of at least 12 months shadowing a competent lift mechanic.
- Completed NQF level 5 certification with completion of at least 12 months shadowing a competent lift mechanic.
- Good communication skills with basic IT skills.

Position Description
Supervision: Under the direct supervision of the Machinery Lead Technician
Position requires 2 to 4 years hands on experience in an industrial setting.
Performs preventative maintenance and repair of injection molding machinery & support equipment.
Rigs, installs and tests injection molding machinery and support equipment.
Works under general supervision with a certain degree of creativity and latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
Work scheduled on the 1st shift – 40 hours per week. (May include overtime & weekend work)
SCOPE OF WORK PERFORMED
Troubleshoots, tests, repairs, and services electrical systems, hydraulic systems, electronic systems, material handling systems, chilled water systems, pneumatic systems, and other production support equipment.
Conducts preventative maintenance services per written PM instructions on all production equipment.
Installs machinery under the guidance of the Plant Engineer, Maintenance Supervisor, and Machinery Lead Technician.
Fabricates and installs safety devices, access platforms, water systems, and electrical services.
May train others on specific jobs.
Performs related work as assigned.
GENERAL QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES
Experience And Education
Experience and formal training in industrial mechanics required.
Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is required.
Graduation from trade school or two year college with major in industrial mechanics is required.
Specialized training in specific maintenance crafts is highly desired.
May be required to complete formal training in areas of specialty.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Job Description Continued – Maintenance Technician – Level II
Should have above average experience, knowledge, and understanding of industrial machinery mechanics, electricity, electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, plumbing and pipefitting, solvent welding of PVC pipe and fittings, metal cutting , welding, & brazing, rigging, and safety procedures.
Must be ‘qualified’ to work on electrical systems up to 480 volts per NDS defined procedures.
Must be familiar with the safe operation of hand tools, power tools, and equipment common to the maintenance of industrial systems and machinery.
Certified forklift operator.
Maintains clean DMV report.
Physical Demands & Work Conditions
To perform essential functions of the job, the following applies: Requires standing, stretching, bending, walking, lifting and transporting a minimum of 50 lbs.
Must be able to climb stairs.
Must be able to climb silo ladders to an elevation of 40’.
Work involves working with and exposure to oils, gear lubricants, greases, lubrication equipment, water treatment chemicals, cleaning chemicals, cleaning & disposal equipment, paint & painting equipment, high levels of noise, and welding fumes.
Non-smoking environment.
Will be required to wear personal protective equipment as appropriate for the work required.
Requirements
Must furnish standard hand tools and tool box per attached Tool List.
Must wear protective footwear during all work hours. (steel toed boots)
Must wear provided eye protection and hearing protection.
Must follow all company safety rules and regulations. Must be proactive in protecting self, subordinates, other workers, and company assets from harm.

The Field Services Technician will deliver high-quality customer service by ensuring the proper installation and maintenance of systems, guaranteeing their optimal operation.
Education, Experience, And Competencies
- Grade 12 and Qualified Artisan (Red Seal) Electrician or Automotive Electrician
- 3-5 years of experience in electronic installations
- Strong knowledge of electronic systems, including installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Own Transport and valid driver's license (willing to travel and work overtime)
- Medically fit to work on a mine (Underground and surface)
Responsibilities
- Installation and Maintenance:
- Install systems accurately to meet standards and deadlines.
- Conduct site and system surveys before installation and quoting.
- Effectively repair and upgrade existing systems on-site.
- Ensure all wiring and installations comply with the mine’s electrical and mechanical requirements.
- Commission and test products, providing education to customers on proper use.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections to ensure optimal equipment performance.

- Additional Duties:

- Respond quickly to reported failures and ensure timely repairs.
- Thoroughly test equipment to analyse faults and ensure compliance with installation manual specifications.
- Order necessary repairs and parts promptly to fix faults.
