Introduction

To achieve the Procurement team goals by providing administrative support to the Buyer and to ensure the smooth running of the department.

  • Perform essential administrative tasks, including document management and report preparation, to support the smooth functioning of the team.
  • Communicate daily with suppliers to coordinate product availability and facilitate weekly reconciliations.
  • Liaise with buyers and planners to ensure product supply meets demand, initiating corrective actions as needed.
  • Provide support in managing orders and maintaining accurate static data records.
  • Support the commercial team with general administrative tasks, including price and pack updates for suppliers.
  • Prepare departmental reports, presentations, and supporting documents across Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Conduct market comparisons, update promotional calendars, and assist in managing departmental operating expenses.
  • Ensure timely follow-up on outstanding issues stemming from meeting minutes.
  • Coordinate logistics for meetings, including room bookings, travel arrangements, and parking.
  • Compile, update, and maintain organized supplier files.
  • Support monthly commercial presentations, contract preparations, and trading terms documentation.
  • Manage ad-hoc queries and perform other administrative duties as they arise, including critical tasks during events.

Technical Skills:

  • Minimum of two years of relevant administrative experience, preferably within a retail or commercial environment.
  • Diploma or Matric (Grade 12) qualification required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Familiarity with COGNOS, CAM, JDA, and Oracle systems is advantageous.
  • Basic understanding of retail accounting practices, including expense management and reconciliation.
  • Foundational knowledge of buying and planning principles within a retail or supply chain setting.

Key Performance Outputs

  • Visit internal and third-party growers and consult on specific horticultural issues to achieve optimum fruit quality
  • Use scientific methods to trial and evaluate different treatments to achieve the best possible results and implement on all farms
  • Test and trial new fertiliser products to achieve maximum yield and obtain best fruit quality
  • Assist with the designing of irrigation strategies and schedules
  • Train and support growers and production managers to effectively apply all irrigation and fertigation practices and schedules
  • Promote better and standardised farming practice across all farms in the Group

This position will work primarily outside in the orchards and would have to walk, stand and most likely kneel for extended periods. This position will also require frequent travel and a valid South African drivers’ license is essential. Our farms are located in the Cape Wine Lands (Paarl, Wellington, Tulbagh, Ceres, Worcester) and the Northern Provinces (Waterberg, Rustenburg, Limpopo, Lephalale and Randfontein), we are open to placing the ideal candidate in any one of the above mentioned locations.

Duties & Responsibilities

You must have some horticultural knowledge and be a strong, independent Sales Executive who can work the Gauteng territory to gain orders. Call on all nurseries as well as buyers from large retail chain stores that offer a gardening section and gain new orders. Maintain these relationships to obtain ongoing business from them.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Matric. At least 5 years of external sales experience. You must have an understanding of plants and trees, either through personal passion or work in a similar environment. You must have your own reliable vehicle for business purposes that upholds the corporate image.

Package & Remuneration

On offer: We will consider candidates who are currently earning a basic salary of between R15,000 – R25,000 plus commission. Offers will take into account your current earnings, sales track record, and experience. Salary will include a basic, petrol allowance, and commission.   • Conduct field research and trials related to indigenous fruits and herbs, including planting, cultivating, harvesting, and post-harvest activities.
  • Collect, prepare, and process plant materials for laboratory analysis and agro-processing activities.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment; perform basic laboratory tests and record experimental data accurately.
  • Assist with agro-processing operations such as fruit pulping, drying, juicing, and preservation, as well as essential oil distillation from herbs.
  • Compile verbal and written reports detailing methodologies, activities, and research findings for supervisors and project leads.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental protocols during all project phases.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff and interns as required.
  • Participate in technology transfer initiatives, demonstrations, and training for stakeholders and community outreach activities.

  • National Diploma in Horticulture, Agriculture, Food Science, or any related discipline.
  • At least 2 years of practical experience in horticultural research, crop production, or agro-processing.
  • Hands-on familiarity with laboratory and agro-processing equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct fieldwork in variable conditions.
  • Knowledge of indigenous crops and traditional processing techniques is an advantage.
